Probably the latter. I wouldn't be surprised if we got a release date, too.
 
Just saw a guy say someone (on a French website) said the game was slated for a September release with pre-order characters. I honestly wouldn't be shocked if this ended up being true. August would really be a surprise.

I wonder if we would hear anything about those pre-order characters soon.
 
If it ends up being true, I'd like to think they would announce it right away. If it's a character a lot of people want, that would probably get the pre-orders up and running quickly.

I kinda expected something like this.

You can make an easy guess that the release date is September 19th based on that tournament in Thailand as games release on Tuesday.

Dat deductive reasoning.

Also the pre-order DLC is probably going to be Wolverine and Akuma based on the dream I had.
 
Based on what GCyoshi said after talking to Combofiend, this launch is very important to them. The guys at Playstation Experience said they'll only release the game when it's ready. If they're aiming for a Sept date, that must mean they're confident in the game. We'll see.

In this case it's getting rushed out for no reason.

We don't even have that many big tournaments at that time. Tournaments don't really start in full swing until early in the year. Marvel Infinite would be coming out at a very weird time.

We should have the story mode on disc. So that alone will do a good job of propping it up. Really the only thing MVC3 was missing, outside maybe a better sort of mission mode than just combos.

I forgot all about that. So they should definitey be making sure MVC:I is coming along well.

Thinking back to Thor. Would be nice if his default design was changed as well from his MVC3 look. Definitely wouldn't mind him looking more MCUish

To be fair, it would not be the first time that unfinished games have small tournaments, if that is the case
 
Where did the 10 years thing come from? Is that the time since Marvel 3's release? That's like 7-8 years max.

There's no way those VS veterans twiddle their thumbs for over a decade, come on now. Most of them probably worked on SFxT/Marvel 3/TvC in some capacity but now their role is bigger due to less outsourcing.
 
September would be an amazing release date if true. It's a good time for the game to come out (obviously hoping it wouldn't be rushed). Otherwise it will get drowned out by other games in the fall.
