Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

I recall hearing it was lackluster when it started. I think I watched part of the first episode, but moved on. I guess I need to give it a chance.
Seasons 2 & 4 are currently the most highly-regarded seasons (Season 1 picks up in the 2nd half of the season). Season 4 in particular is, as Garlador said, firing on all cylinders right now.

It's pretty up and down but I have liked it throughout.

S1 - first half bad, second half great
S2 - up and down but overall a good season
S3 - up and down but overall not great, some meh episodes in the middle
S4 - the best the show has ever been, every episode has been a winner

I can vouch for this.

Any other UMVC3 heads in here want plink dashing to return? Best system glitch it took Marvel 3 to the next level & helped characters that would otherwise have shitty wave dash.

Edit: Hope they use Kanye track for MVC inf ads.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Iron Fist will be making a return. I hope he gets retooled significantly.
Yeah but he doesn't need much. A launcher that doesn't hit airborne opponents and a prerequisite of 3 Rekkas to do his best moves didn't help.

In the other thread, they touched upon giant characters to fill the Sentinel niche, and mentioned Hulkbuster Iron Man (which is a terrible idea btw).

Any giant/oversized characters that you guys want playable?

PTX-40 would be the one for me. Just "port" his moveset from TvC with several modifications to balance him out in a 2v2 system (no I did not like that giants were solo in TvC).

However, I'd be cool with Devil Dinosaur, Hauzer, and/or Honda Tadakatsu (lol).

Maybe Doc Ock could be "huge" if he moved around by his tentacles, giving him a bigger effective body, and they have hurtboxes. His actual body would just kinda hang in the middle.

It's not that crazy of an idea is it?

I want a playable Doctor Octopus so bad. He would also be quite the spectacle. It would just be very technical and require some crazy animations--it's why he was shelved for MvC3, right?

For giant characters I want Beowulf from DMC3, Berial from DMC4, the Giganotosaurus from Dino Crisis 2 and American Kaiju.

No clue. Maybe they wanted to try to get him to move by his arms, which would be cool, but difficult.

If they made his stance with his arms in a big arc like a huge spider, he could act as a big character. That would be cooler than him just walking around with his arms flailing, I'd say.

I'm hoping UE4 gives them a a better way to handle it technically so they can actually do it.

Well, obviously Blade and Jack Baker had better be in.

Blade would make a great counterpart to Dante, and Gene would make a great counterpart to Deadpool (penchant pour rochambeau).

A bit unrelated, but I'm watching the old Max Assist Me's and him constantly getting harassed by these crazy goddamn people like X-23 and Doom is still funny as shit

I hard a weird brainfart moment a few days ago, i was watching the Thrill Kill video he made and he had bits were his dog talks, and i was like "what is this linkara bullshit" then i remembered "Oh wait, this has being his gimmick since the days of assist me!"

I dunno why my brain assigned poorly customed fighting game characters as "ok and hilarious" but a talking dog was apparently going too far.

Monster Hunter is the obvious go-to for giant characters. They could go as reasonable and sane or stupid and bonkers as they want.

Definitely would like to see Iron Fist in. An Iron Fist/Gene simultaneous reveal would be the most hype thing possible for me. Gene would be an instant main on my end and Iron Fist would be the same for my friend/marvel sparring partner.

I mentioned my desire for Rajang in the other topic, and I think he'd be an excellent choice. I can already imagine the "Super Saiyan" and other such jokes that the MonHun scene has been privy to for years translating well enough over to the FGC. Plus, scale-wise, Rajang wouldn't be that much bigger than COTA-Sentinel was to everybody else.

Furthermore, because the game's director was a programmer throughout MonHun''s lifetime up to the 4th entrant, I'd like to think he'd have a bit more pull swaying the MH team to give him their blessing on whoever he picks.

I want to say this guess.

Full size Groot playable.

Baby groot will be used by rocket or make appearance in his intro/wins.

I'd love rocket to be use baby groot like choi/Chang.

Rathalos (Or most MH monsters really), Zero Akuma (or Bloodia), and Armor Knight G Kaiser would be good as giant characters on the Capcom side...also PTX I guess. For Marvel, there's Devil Dinosaur, Fin Fang Foom, Red Ronin, and Death's Head, though those all are of varying sizes. I guess overall, Armor Knight G Kaiser, and Red Ronin would be a bit too big even for giant characters, though Bloodia does have a smaller version I believe.

Jack Fremont for MVC

So in regards to swordsmen characters, how many do you think there will be?

I think at least two of Dante, Zero and Strider will be in, but I'm wondering who, without Deadpool, could sort of rival them. I'm hoping Taskmaster comes back, and maybe Blade ends up being the sword dude for the Marvel cast.

With Max posting his vid on the rumored dlc fox characters, i wonder who would actually be picked.

Magneto, Storm, Sentinel, and Wolverine are essentially legacy characters at this point.
That's 4 right off the bat. But would the dlc be limited to a certain amount of characters as well? 5 seems reasonable. Or maybe those are the only ones we would be able to buy.
I mean look at how many they had playable in all the titles capcom had:

Wolverine
Storm
Magneto
Sentinel
Cable
Cyclops
Phoenix/jean grey
X23
Gambit
Psylock
Omega red
Juggernaut
Colossus
Rogue
Silver samurai
Spiral
Marrow
Sabertooth
Deadpool
(Am i missing anyone?)

Also, people had asked for:
Nightcrawler
Dazzler
Bishop
Domino
Emma Frost
Scarlet witch

Other than the four i already mentioned, who really has a chance?
X-Men have new comic series (gold, blue, Jean Grey, iceman) coming out next year. which would be evident that at least a teen version of iceman, jean grey, beast, Angel or Cyclops would be a candidate for dlc. Fox is also starting to film the new mutants movie in 2017.
which opens up the probably that a new mutants character could be in.

X-Men talk is always so boring, because it's always about the same bunch of characters. I was glad at the possibility that they might sit this one out. I don't buy and play fighting games to see the same goddamn characters again and again and again. I like things that are new, even if they turn out to be average or plain bad. At least the additions of Phoenix, X-23 and Deadpool kept thing fresh for 3, but I fear there won't be any X-Men newcomers this time around.

Edit: I get that they have their dedicated fans, and I don't begrudge those people their favorites. But as someone whose favorites will never, ever be playable in a game or even hold a significant role in a comic in the foreseeable future, the X-Men question inevitably leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. At the same time, adding in lots of X-Men risks pushing out other Marvel characters I would like to see or that would otherwise be interesting.

Well, look at me, getting all serious about faitin' game rosters.

I love Nextwave, Elsa is my fave from the crew, followed closely by Machine Man and Monica.

I have a hard time picking favorites, although Monica and Elsa probably left the most impression, alongside Dirk frickin' Anger. If I were to seriously champion one of them, it would probably be Monica. She offers a lot in terms of diversity, interesting powers and badassery (although Machine Man would be great as well). It also doesn't hurt that Marvel has been seemingly pushing her more and more. #MonicaRambeau4MvC

I agree with this sentiment. I was super into the characters introduced in MvC3, especially the left-field ones like MODOK, Rocket Raccoon, Dormammu or Super-Skrull.

Extremely High Chance
Wolverine
Storm
Deadpool
Magneto

High Chance
Sentinel (Borderline Extremely high)
Cable: (Borderline)
Gambit: If he was currently in anything? Extremely High
Cyclops (depending on who's looking at the list at marvel....borderline :P )
Psylocke (Borderline)
Rogue
Juggernaut
Emma Frost (She's a big part of the current X-men series and for some reason...I think she might be pushed)

Moderate Chance
Iceman
Kitty Pryde:I might bump this one up to high chance if I knew what she was up to after she became Star Lord. Plus her phasing might be too much or something
Nightcrawler (I wish I could bump him up higher but...he's a fan favorite character that has never been pushed in these games...)
Colossus
X-23 (this is debatable depending on if Wolverine doesn't make it for some reason)
Phoenix
Bishop (I could reasonably see this happening)
Domino
Jubilee: She was an assist in MVC1. Could see making it

Low Chance
Sabretooth (Borderline Moderate)
Spiral (Borderline Moderate)
Dazzler (I'll say borderline to be fair)
Silver Samurai
Omega Red
Marrow

X-23 is now officially Wolverine and has her own comic named as such. Her chances are waaaaaaay higher than someone like Juggernaut.
