Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

I would love to see some megaman battle network representation in some form. Would love to see either Megaman, Protoman, Bass, or Colonel even. Even an alt costume for X or a stage would make me happy :)

I haven't seen any recent Marvel title that's given me confidence that this is the case. Perhaps it's only the titles not yet released that they've taken this new stance on, time will tell.

the marvel games guy in the interview saying a whole bunch of really stupid shit especially doesn't give me confidence in the actual competitive quality of the game in regards to their oversight, but that's mostly out of their hands anyways so it's still a strong unknown.

for the casual side though i'm sure they're investing quite a bit and that'll probably work out. at the very minimum i'd imagine the story mode is going to be somewhat hefty.
really hoping for a complete experience on that aspect, with a whole buncha shit there but capcom has a strong track record of barebones releases for pretty much forever

Hope Marvel has its own tour and you know with how Marvel / Disney / ESPN will push this game it's gonna be huge..bigger than CPT so no wonder Asian players looking to pick it up and get off the sinking ship that is SFV big $ seeing as Capcom did not even announce a prize pool for next year that Sony money dried up fast.

Thank fuck Marvel will be overseeing Capcom so we don't have the cluster fuck that was SFV launch.

lol this is still Capcom's game and Marvel only have say in terms of characters and not in terms of core development and which direction it goes as the team at Capcom Japan are the ones who are in charge of that, not Marvel. As Capcom already has eSport experience it's obviously a no brainer to include MvCI too. SFV CPT has been bigger than ever this year and it just finished so expect to see a prize pool soon.

I think Ghost Rider should make the without too much difficulty.

Would it be Reyes or Blaze, though?

It's going to be Blaze. While Marvel likes pushing their new iterations and such, they're still aware of the actually popular shit. That's why we're getting Tony Stark Iron Man and not the new girl that's taking over the Iron Man role in the books now.

The only character I can see going either way is if Nova comes back, and it's between Rider and Sam.

I hope. Nothing against Robbie but the bike....man...the BIKE

For me, its not Blaze vs Reyes

Its Car vs Bike

From Marvel, personally I wouldn't mind as long as we get some form of Venom/symbiote. If we get that? I'm cool.

Who actually plays MvC2 on Japanese sticks? Never mind having that on a non-head to head setup -- it would be actually impossible to get two American players to play on that damn thing.

...and I actually used to go to an arcade that actually ran MvC2 on Japanese sticks, and the players hated it. Never got much support from the local community, but the owner was too stubborn/prideful to switch it out. Never was an issue for people playing other games there like CvS2 or 3S (never mind something like GG or MB).

I really have no problems with Japanese sticks. I also have Semitsu LS-56's on all of my cabs which are stiffer compared to the normal Sanwa JLF's you usually see. Im not master of MvC2, but it do perfectly well with these. Here is a vid of myself installing them

https://youtu.be/DuHJN3WztbY

Its marvel 2...they'd play it.

OG parts BNgames or did you pop in your own gear into that egret? Slick cab btw. All you need now is a cozy bench or some bar stools for the setup. Been trying to figure out where on earth in my new house I might have enough room to justify getting one of these cabs. Still not sure what I'd put in it either. Probably go mame since I'm indecisive.

edit:

waitaminute...

That thing says egret and atomiswave. From the speakers its definitely the atomiswave. Still piecing together the machines sticks?

lol its an Atomiswave which used the same housing as a Egret II, I happen to own one of Each. The Atomiswave was Built in 2003 and has a VGA trisync monitor where the Egret II was built in 1996 and is only dual Sync.

It has an Egret panel because it originally came with a single player panel with a Card Reader and I often have someone over to play so I needed a 2p and its the only one I could find that didn't cost a small fortune.

This was the original setup

I talk about them in depth here: https://youtu.be/T6jRz_fKVYQ

For all we know Marvel has final say on a lot of shit, seeing how closely they are both working together and even showing up in interviews together is pretty big never saw that for UMVC3.

Them not announcing Prize pool for next year during CPT finals was huge..no doubt the Sony deal is done with the game performing like it did. Will Capcom step up and pump in the same amount of money next year? I think prob not. It will heavily rely on community funded support from buying DLC and the other stuff I'd say.

Capcom could run the "eSports" event but I don't seeing it being a big stretch if has its own "tour" it honestly ends up being better for both games without having to split up time between the two games. Though, seeing as MVCi won't be ready for a tour kick off till 2018 for all we know SFV could end up being put on the back burner as far as "esports" strategy when 2018 season comes about..I guess that all depends on how SFV's long term viability sales wise looks to Capcom investors when it comes to 2017 sales.

Bucky and Falcon are popular and well known too, doesn't mean we'll be getting Bucky or Falcon Cap instead of Steve Rogers.
Spider-Gwen and Miles Morales are popular, doesn't mean we'll be getting either instead of Peter Parker Spidey.
X-23 is Wolverine now, yet if we get Wolverine in MvCI, it'll be Logan, not X-23 in yellow-and-blue duds.

If we get Robbie Reyes, it will be as alt costume or as a low effort clone of Blaze, but Blaze is THE main Ghost Rider.

Regardless, Capcom are the ones who are developing the title and any core elements within the gameplay and the direction of the game comes from them as they are the ones working on it. The relationship between them both seems healthier though, I just wish they gave MVC3 on PS4 to Iron Galaxy to fix the netcode.

We both probably know as much as each other regarding the CPT prize pool (i.e zilch) and since it JUST finished last week I think they are reviewing and retooling some things within the tourney before they announce it and they have time to do so. The pro tour DLC did very well too so I'm sure they will do that again next year.

I feel you bro on UMVC3 netcode. :( Just pay and use GGPO for fuck sake Capcom!

Regarding the prize pool I think honestly it's better to incorporate more DLC for prize pool we end up getting cool shit (has to be priced decently of course) and people get to support the players they love watching. Hell release classic SF2 stage pack, and other cool shit and watch people gladly buy it.

dream roster?
Marvel: Baymax, NFL SuperPro, Purple Man, Dazzler, Six-Arm Spider-Man, The Big Wheel
Capcom: Yellow Devil, Godot from Ace Attorney, a dinosaur from Dino Crisis, the car from the SF2 bonus stage, Scrooge McDuck, Willow

Is this for the base roster or counting DLC? Also, why no Ant-Man or Rocket?

No Antman for no particular reason. No RR because I figured they'd try something new. Honestly Groot, RR, and Starlord are so neck and neck its hard to tell which will be in. Someone GG will make it though. Antman...like I said no reason.

But at the same time, all signs point to no Fox characters until at least DLC (if at all, though the DLC part is going off of what Ryce has heard), so there's some room to be made in your list. Also, Eurogamer did mention Ant-Man & Groot (though Ryce did say that Groot may not be his own character). Rocket's basically a household name now & is now one of Marvel's most marketable characters, so it'd be weird to see him cut.

Marvel: Baymax, NFL SuperPro, Purple Man, Dazzler, Six-Arm Spider-Man, The Big Wheel

He's called Doppelganger.

Also, I'm disappointed at the lack of Phone Ranger, Typeface, the Wall, and most importantly Turner D. Century. Oh and Adam X the X-TREME for the X-Men/90s lovers.

Actually, by all accounts, this game is being developed by Capcom (internal), Capcom U.S.A. and Marvel Games. While Capcom is still doing most of the work, Marvel is way more hands on with this than ever before.

I hope we get Luke Cage to replace Juggernaut, Captain Commando and Baby Groot to be a Servbot to Rocket Raccoon.

would Luke really play like Juggernaut? I mean, yeah...he headbutts people but from the comics I've read with him in them he doesn't seem the type to head crush someone.

I'd think someone big and heavy like Kurse, Executioner, Rhino, Iron Monger, the Destroyer, maybe...but Luke...

Or Hammerhead...because that's basically his shtick

On the other hand I do recall Luke tackling Purple Man in a thunderbolts issue in a manner sorta similar to Juggernaut....ah I don't know

I see no one talking about it so I am going to throw it out there.

Speculation for Infinity Stones.

I am with Max that there's a button for the Infinity Stones. Press it once to activate the buff and then it has an active ability that you can use if you press the button again. The Power stone active ability is a knockback explosion (like a get off me move) that wall bounces them and the Time active ability is a teleport dash.

So I am going to try to speculate on the other gems.

Mind: This was used by Thanos in MSH and he used it as a zoning tool. I think this stone is the one for zoners/projectile characters.

Active: High durability, high speed projectile beam attack.

Passive: Enhances damage, speed and durability of projectiles. Projectiles may get additional projectiles added to them or some normals may have projectiles shooting out of them like Dark Phoenix.

Soul: This stone gave more vitality in MSH. I think this will be the main defensive stone of the game.

Active: Allows for a charge or counter move with super or hyper armor properties.

Passive: Higher HP bonus, red HP regeneration even as a point, impervious to chip damage.

Reality: You hid and found items with this stone in MSH. This one is the hardest to predict. In the movies it could change the villain's size so maybe changes in hitboxes/hurtboxes? It can also resurrect the dead maybe it brings back your partner and you can use the partner as assists!

Active: Can call dead partner for an assist.

Passive: Better hitbox/hurtboxes on attacks. You can use team synergy stuff despite having a dead character (but the 2nd character still counts as dead and immediately tags out when they have served their puporse).

Space: In MSH this gave players the ability to jump higher. I think it will be a gem that increases aerial mobility.

Active: Allows for the character to perform an air dash. Double/triple dash if they can already do it.

Passive: Allows for additional jumps and special actions in the air. In Marvel 3 you had 3 special actions in the air, this gem might allow you to surpass that limit. Maybe increased flight time/speed, better super jumps and better air dash speeds too.

From Marvel, personally I wouldn't mind as long as we get some form of Venom/symbiote. If we get that? I'm cool.

Give him some of his signature moves, his duel cannons, and maybe some Ultra Combo attack with Gospel and we have ourselves an amazing character!

I also second the symbiote talk! I would love to see Venom's glorious return! Or maybe even Agent Venom plus another symbiote to have an even more diverse roster! :)

I thought Thanos's Mind attack reversed inputs back in MSH, rather than being particularly about zoning. Filled meter too for regular characters, not that it has to do that in this game. .

I missed the beginning of this thread, but I'm not the only one that wants Ruby Heart back right? Her design was striking and way too good to just be used for one uncancelled game.

I'd like Ruby back, though I do feel like there would be a lot of people complaining because she doesn't really have a game of her own, unless you played her old discontinued Japanese phone game.

Didn't Maximilian say this game is being developed wholly by Capcom since over a decade ago? That interview at PSX also indicated the producer (Michael Evans) goes to Japan to help with direction over there. I still think we need clarification over this but hey, at least we have a new MvC game.

I'd be pretty happy with Bass.EXE. Not sure who else I personally would want from Battle Network though. I think overall...having any more than 3 or 4 reps for Mega Man total is overkill.

We already have X, so...two or three more of any of these and I'd be good:

Roll (Classic, TvC)
Proto Man (Classic)
Dr. Wily (Classic)
Sigma
Zero (X)
Zero (Megaman Zero)
Bass.Exe
Tron Bonne
Harp Note

There were a few more I wanted but can't remember off the top of my head lol.

The Destroyer would be a better Juggernaut alternative.

It's microwave beam face sound effect was pretty cool in the Thor movie.

The only good version of bass

Alright, think what you want. But when we get Miles and Peter like spider shoto's and Reyes instead of blaze, i'mma hold you to it.

As far as X23, she could totally just be called wolverine. And Wolverine could just be called logan, and he could be a Oldman.

I'd fucking love LaserMan.EXE. He's such a badass.

I said Miles INSTEAD of Peter. I never said anything about getting both of them at the same time.
Also, if X-23 is in, it's likely she'd get the Wolverine duds as a costume instead, but I sincerely doubt they'd call her Wolverine while also having Logan in the game.

Season isn't over and I disagree that it's the best. Missing Ward is a huge shot
