Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

Yeah, Sneakers threw the idea of the Soul Gem and the character not disappearing out there pointing to a revival, iirc.

I didn't think about it beforehand, but it makes perfect sense. One thing that sucks is possibly not seeing X or Sigma explode. I actually wanted to see that.

Depending on how these theoretical revives work, they could always explode then beam back in.

Storm MUST be revamped if she's in this game.

She MUST be. I need to see lighting type strikes all over the screen a la Zero's Raikousen in MvC3.

Everyone's flight time needs to be adjusted too. The flight length should be double the flight time in MvC3 at LEAST.

Just no NRS has DC let Capcom keep Marvel. It's nice to have games for different groups of players.
I don't think sixteen-bit denies variety, but if Marvel was about MAXIMUM SALES for a console fg project they would've been enlisting the help of NRS as they've expressed interest.

easy there big fella

i'd actually go the opposite route and say busy people looking for lots of casual, solo content is the much bigger market (and probably closer in line with what Disney/Marvel wants this time) - not a smaller "unique" one
Some of the biggest games out in the market are competitive multiplayer games.

It's good to have content that appeals to everyone but let's not kid ourselves as to what we are playing here... this is still a fighting game.

Realistically, they should go with NRS if they want sales. I2 will probably outsell MvCI 2:1. Much more mainstream appeal to NRS titles.
They can go with NRS only if they agree to outsource the gameplay and art design to Eighting or whoever and let NRS handle the fluff and promotion.

that'd be pretty sick now that I think of it.

That's cool. Still doesn't change that there's not a right or wrong way to enjoy a fighter. If they add shit that appeals to those casuals to make them buy it, great. Doesn't mean that "getting better at a fighter" isn't fun. Doesn't mean that there shouldn't ALSO be depth for people that want more than just modes to fuck around with. It's not an either or.

And I'm a person in that "unique" situation. That's what I meant. Stop using being busy as an excuse to not care about developing skills in a fighter. You have different priorities.

That's cool, too. So do I. Not everybody has to care about versus modes and training in a fighter. Not everybody is going to care about tons of casual modes. You don't need a reason for it. You like what you like. Doesn't mean that what I like is wrong just because it's different from what you like.

I wonder if an MVC game would ever have a customization/gear system. Some sort of What if? Mode/Customization with you designing a custom look for Spider-man (for instance) based on his thousand upon thousand of costume changes :P Seriously, I'd argue Marvel characters would be better with a gear system than DC characters based on Spider-man alone!

And I thought people hated Star Labs anyway? Isn't that why its not returning?

Maybe it would be beneficial for Capcom to do themed/stipulated arcade modes or something like the different challenge ladders in the NRS games?

Just...no...stats....NO

So people, we have a new leak, take it with a grain of salt. (From GF)

right just going to throw this out there weather you want to buy into this or not. With the recent trailers for MvCI, I can no longer contain my silence. What you are about to read below if the full roster for Marvel vs Capcom Infinite. The FULL roster will clock out at exactly 68 characters. This includes the full launch roster which totals 50, the 6 "new" DLC additions per the recent trailer along with 12 returning fighters including the "Fox owned" characters which will be added post launch. Scarlet Witch (with her unique ownership) notably was added as one of the 6 to show that "Fox" owned characters joining the roster is indeed a reality. There was also debate of which new Darkstalkers character would be included, Dimitri, Jedah & Lord Raptor were all considered but ultimately Jon Talbain got the nod. The debate lasted so long that the development team left him off the initial roster & lift him as DLC. Lastly Hayato was considered to return but Samanosuke was chosen to add representation for the Onimusha series.

~ Enjoy the spoilers below my dogz.

Same and same. This list has the biggest ones on my wishlist, those being Jin, Venom, Asura, and Loki. Only omission that I can say would be Gene, but if Asura is in, then I really can't ask for much more.

68 characters on the full roster? I just don't believe that, in this day that's way too many characters for a game that clearly is barely gonna make release date.

Onimusha was definitely a hard no. Power Stone seemed a little softer. Either way, no Power Stone is a real missed opportunity with the whole stones theme. I won't be too bitter about it though, the prospects look good. We're going to have a solid roster.
Maybe they could add one rep from PS as DLC, given that the trailer said "All new characters". Tessa, Gene, Asura or a Ps rep would be nice.

Would everyone be open to Infinite have a beta of some sort?

I've seen mixed opinions on that.

I'd love to play the game all the way up to release on PC!

Who wouldn't there's just a lot of risk putting out there on PC (SFV Beta had people using beta after it was shut down), maybe console beta?

Imagine this as the unique character gimmick for a Power Stone character: When activating full a power infinity stone -- the character transforms into power up mode with upgraded special attacks alongside the infinity stone special effects applied.

*Bro fist*

I'm really curious how long this game has been in development.

Any insiders know anything about it?

I just noticed something in my old interview with S-Kill. He said there were no throw assists in MVC3 because they can cause technical issues, but in MVCI the free form tag system might mean we can do odd command throw mixups similar to what throw assists would have done. I wonder if they were able to tackle the problems they ran into.

Nah man, the updates control scheme should be fine and if they can bring her back closer to Mvc2 storm that's all we need.

Don't change storm that much imo.

MVC2 Storm is so bad design and game play wise.

Most of her playstyle would not be left in tact. Being able to dash above the screen, float and then spam HP to build meter. Well that's gone because you can't build meter from whiff normals anymore. They can't improve her mobility beyond the capability of the game's mechanics.

What they actually need to do is improve her zoning/special moves. Her Lightning Sphere sucks, her Whirlwind sucks, her Typhoon sucks. Even her Lightning Attack isn't that great. All of this carried over into Marvel 3 but without the advantages that Storm in Marvel 2 had. She just feels like an incomplete character.

Runaway is Storm would not work without good specials to use on the enemy... otherwise you are just being annoying doing no damage to the opponent while you stay away from them.

I have one request that I think might fix the character:

-Bring back "HO!" everytime she uses HP

That is all.

Stupid shitty minigame modes and Heroes and Heralds.

Give people a way to pick a character, buy a house, farm Marvel item stuff, decorate, etc. Let Iron Man invite girls to his house and bathe with them and the game will sell a few more million copies.
Prefix all of this with "stupid shitty" as well. Even moreso than the idea of H&H.

See: Disney Infinity 3.0.

Do we still think x men characters won't show up in the base game? It seems that the marvel mobile game features xmen characters in it.
