Fake. Why are we entertaining this guy?
Off-chance that Riku is more miffed by there being an aggressive DLC plan and that being the reason why the launch roster is fucked, while not corroborating Ryce's roster count (yet) or explicitly saying what is or isn't DLC because they might not know. It's confusing to follow, but basically requires you to believe Riku knows more and has a different source than Ryce (e.g. maybe Ryce's source is covering their tracks).
I remember Capcom saying the roster was going to be big during their last reveal. So here's hoping this is true.
Trust devs or not, trust leakers or not, some things to consider when reading all leaks:
- If you're going to port, why not port more? Especially to avoid an anemic roster? Better to have more of the same than less of everything in general.

VG24/7 Interview comment about strong female characters: "
So, we're telling a story this time and a good story has really fun interactions between characters. Especially in a crossover game like this – in the stinger you saw X and Rocket Racoon having a back and forth there. Or, like, two strong female characters – Chun-Li and Captain Marvel, and them coming together as leaders in the story. So we're thinking about as fans on both sides... what kind of pair-ups do we want to see? What kind of cool interactions could we envision in the story?" ... Why say some shit like this to only include 2 more female characters total?
- Also from the VG24/7 Interview: "
It's definitely not Marvel coming to us and telling us, y'know... hey, we have this movie coming up so you have to include this character. It's not like that. There's a really long history with Capcom and Marvel back to the 90s, well before Marvel is what it is today, and the Capcom approach to bringing these Marvel characters to life in these games like X-Men Children of the Atom and X-Men vs Street Fighter... bringing them off the page of the comics in a way that nobody was really doing at the time is part of the Capcom DNA and approach. They really respect that on their side too, so in that sense it's a collaboration." ... Again, why reference these games and the legacy of this franchise in response to a question about Marvel dictating what they include? Like a covert way of dispelling the fact that it's another MCU trojan horse? And them reiterating that they have this freedom, only to keep it MCU-centric in the end? They also mention Marvel gives them a roadmap of what's going on in the comics in the future to inform what characters they include. Again.. how is that relevant if it's all MCU at the end of the day anyways?
-
Metro Interview which has a flat out denial that they'd only include MCU characters and a no comment on X-Men/FF (and some joking about other characters). Also noted is that the Japan team has input on what characters they want.
- Also in the Metro Interview: "
You also have Chun-Li and Captain Marvel: two very powerful female characters that are at the forefront. So we're looking at characters that play off each other well, work together well. But also important, as you say, is those more fan service characters that people want to see brought back." - Again, why mention fan service and strong female characters if you're going to forgo that for the most part.

I'm not saying that these statements from a company people have little faith in in 2017 are the rule of law, but it just feels like it doesn't add up. And despite Capcom going suddenly silent on things like a story mode for MvC3, it just feels weird for them to go hard on talking points like it's not just the MCU, and there will be strong female characters, for there to basically just be an MCU cast and like no female characters. Just things to consider that can either inspire hope or make the ditch they're digging even deeper.
