Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

They're probably praying that whatever they have for E3 turns things around. Though really, unless they show a character not from the list to surprise people they won't fix it. They'll get some support showing off Jeddah, MonHun, Gamora, and another newcomer. But it'll turn around when people realize that means the leak is real.

Yeah, that's pretty much the only thing that can stop this negativity. They'd have to show Asura or something. Anything that isn't on the leaked list. I'm sure the people there will likely enjoy themselves because it's available to play, but the damage will already be done, unfortunately.

And we thought Capcom is smart enough after SF V but no. They rather go to the path that irritates gamers instead of making them happy.

Right. They're adding Story/Arcade at launch, which shows they were aware that the game needs modes available. Apparently they didn't realize how important the roster is to those 2 million they're trying to sell to.

Like I always say, Capcom cannot get out of their own way with these decisions they be making.

That was another guy.

Funny enough, he guessed that the 4 meters was the maximum you could get.

From the FB page, Twitter, and various other sites, Infinite is getting trashed....hard.

I really wonder what Capcom is thinking as they're assessing this right now.

Right before E3 at that. Feels bad.
Thanks! It could still be real though.

Haven't been checking the feedback on social media about the leaked roster. They must be praying for some good reactions lol

You now have another guy on Twitter saying the roster will have more than 40 characters. I don't believe anything he's saying.

I give up.

Just going to wait for E3. Everything will be clear then.

What guy?
Maybe Capcom changed the base roster after all the buzz that came with the leak lol.

I doubt it, but maybe the leaked roster is the launch roster but there are secret characters to unlock included on disc? I guess Ryce or Sneakers could shoot this idea down quickly.

When you think about it, it's been a rocky road for this game.

- Game revealed and isn't MVC4 but instead a new MVC.
- 2 v 2 instead of 3 v 3, assists dropped
- graphics have been said to be unimpressive by many
- People wondering why Sigma isn't in the base roster
- roster leaks and dissapointed many.

The saddest thing is, people kept dealing with the other factors too. "Well the gameplay will be fine as it's own thing", "well the graphics aren't too important especially if it means 60fps", "Well DLC is always a thing".

The roster unless it ends up being something else really does seem to be the final straw after people have dealt with everything prior to it.

I'll support the game because I've been following the series since I was a kid but I'm really dissapointed with the base roster and other changes.

Dude is claiming Tom Holland is voicing Spiderman in it the game.

I find that hard to believe.

Edit: and that him and RikuRikuMore are the only legit leakers.

Just someone wanting attention it seems.

lol

ya'll need to stop posting every rando making claims.

They'll all disappear once E3 arrives.

Capcom Said there would be older franchises represented in MVCI so we all should know he's fake

Reused assets from Marvel Heroes Omega? WTF that makes no sense.

Corroborating Riku on SSFIV? But Riku didn't give any specifics on what's launch and what isn't or a number, right?

This is too messy. We got multiple sources on the Ryce/Saikyo thing, and Riku and this dude on the other side with some overlapping material. But it's easy to corroborate stuff to make yourself seem legitimate and make the rest bullshit. Based on the Marvel Omega and the comment about old franchises, I'm not buying it.

If I were Capcom I'd get to porting everyone from UMVC3 that they can get into the game as soon as possible.

when it comes to people claiming leaks without proof disappointing ones are more realistic than hype ones (especially capcom stuff tbh)

Since we might as well be taken for a ride, there's additional info in the replies that people might miss:

I don't have screenshots or Video.. Yet.

[On the source]
It's A buddy who used to work at Capcom until February, he did some work on the game, and FYI: he's now on Ubisoft doing AC Orgins lmao
But yeah when my pal left the company he already knew The entire roster along with 2 season 1 dlc characters and a few VAs as well
And what's funny is my source still gets info from another friend at Capcom seeing he already knows a bunch of secrets
RikuRikuMore and I are the only legit leakers at this point.
Ryces source has to be messin around with him and the others

[On Asura]
Yes but it's still undecided if he will be Season 1 DLC or not seeing as he is competing with another character for the spot
And if the competing character does not make it he will be season 1
I don't know who the competitor is but I think it's gene or Edward Falcon

[On Black Panther]
Not sure if he's in yet, I Only know of 37 characters so far( including 2 dlc ) my source hasn't told me everything yet
wait I just checked my info, yeah, this is one of the characters I'm allowed to say he's in so... I hope black panther fans are happy lol

Seeing that E3 is in a few weeks I can tell you from what I know they planned on revealing Dante at e3, I could be wrong but I'm not sure

I'm 90% sure the roster is 40-44
It's most definitely not 28
I know of 37 so far( but two are dlc )
I think the base roster is going to have 40-44 characters at launch

I'll have more info by E3

Gene Is season 1 DLC

But if Riku is legit didn't Riku also say that Capcom did bungle the launch? I think I've confused myself.

Wait a minute there is ANOTHER DMC character in season 1 DLC?

If it's brand new then it has to be Lady because that guy said Nero is in the base roster. Trish wouldn't be brand new and neither would Vergil (which he says is coming) so he's basically saying that Lady would be in unless there is some new DMC5 character (or Lucia lol).

The bull shit this guy is spewing is on some next level stuff man.

I wonder if I tweet a bunch of bs that collaborates these leaks and adds one more how long it'll take gaf to post it here as a possible real leak 🤔

I remember Capcom saying the roster was going to be big during their last reveal. So here's hoping this is true.

Lol, no one here is taking the guy seriously. That much is made clear.

We already know we're getting the shitty leak roster, so this stuff is simply a little diversion for a laugh.

Themed dlc seasons make sense for Marvel characters to me but no so much for capcom. Would rather see reps from variety of games rather than concentrated into one. Especially since there are a decent chunk of capcom series that only need 1-2 reps which would make them less likely for a season. Of course my opinion would change if you told me there would be an ace attorney season lol.

I guess maybe the same complaint could apply to the marvel side, since I mostly care about the capcom characters more I may be missing what people want from the marvel characters.

Edit: thinking about it I guess the theme would need to be game specific. It could just be something more generic that applies to multiple games like "fighters".

Yeah, no, I have all the reason in the world to believe Ryce and not this rando.

At best, you can cross your fingers and hope there are a couple of secret characters that Ryce and co don't know about, but it doesn't make much sense that they wouldn't know characters just because they need to be unlocked. That generally isn't how it works.

Seriously. Also, Combofiend is involved with this, yes? Surely as a FGC player and fan he knows what MvC fans want, right? Shouldn't he be aware that we want Jin, Captain Commando, Vergil, Black Panther, Regina, Leon, Power Stone Characters, etc?

This is my opinion of course. Now I'm not confident how DMC 5 will be handled. Don't tell me base game of DMC 5 12 missions only and the rest will be DLC. Oh dear.....

Yeah, Combo is co-producer, I believe. That's one of the reasons why Spencer likely returned.

I think Capcom is aware of what fans want--especially if the producer actually searched YT videos and other places online to get a feel for what was desired. I refuse to believe they're that oblivious. They're just likely holding those characters back for DLC.

Of course it'd make more sense to put a lot of fan requested characters into the roster to convince people to buy the game to begin with. If this game ends up being busass, all of these DLC plans will be meaningless.

Capcom just doing Capcom things.

Man, I was so excited for this game the moment I saw X. "Mega Man has returned! They listened to us!" I exclaimed. I was ready to buy this game day 1. Then, all this crap happened:

When you think about it, it's been a rocky road for this game.

- Game revealed and isn't MVC4 but instead a new MVC.
- 2 v 2 instead of 3 v 3, assists dropped
- graphics have been said to be unimpressive by many
- People wondering why Sigma isn't in the base roster
- roster leaks and disappointed many.

And, now I'm conflicted. It's just been a never-ending stream of disappointment after another. I may have finally gotten a Mega Man in new Marvel vs. Capcom, but is it worth all of this? The graphics bothered me the most before the roster leak because I don't know how much I can stomach its hideous art direction.

Fake. Why are we entertaining this guy?
Off-chance that Riku is more miffed by there being an aggressive DLC plan and that being the reason why the launch roster is fucked, while not corroborating Ryce's roster count (yet) or explicitly saying what is or isn't DLC because they might not know. It's confusing to follow, but basically requires you to believe Riku knows more and has a different source than Ryce (e.g. maybe Ryce's source is covering their tracks).

I remember Capcom saying the roster was going to be big during their last reveal. So here's hoping this is true.
Trust devs or not, trust leakers or not, some things to consider when reading all leaks:

- If you're going to port, why not port more? Especially to avoid an anemic roster? Better to have more of the same than less of everything in general.

- VG24/7 Interview comment about strong female characters: "So, we're telling a story this time and a good story has really fun interactions between characters. Especially in a crossover game like this – in the stinger you saw X and Rocket Racoon having a back and forth there. Or, like, two strong female characters – Chun-Li and Captain Marvel, and them coming together as leaders in the story. So we're thinking about as fans on both sides... what kind of pair-ups do we want to see? What kind of cool interactions could we envision in the story?" ... Why say some shit like this to only include 2 more female characters total?

- Also from the VG24/7 Interview: "It's definitely not Marvel coming to us and telling us, y'know... hey, we have this movie coming up so you have to include this character. It's not like that. There's a really long history with Capcom and Marvel back to the 90s, well before Marvel is what it is today, and the Capcom approach to bringing these Marvel characters to life in these games like X-Men Children of the Atom and X-Men vs Street Fighter... bringing them off the page of the comics in a way that nobody was really doing at the time is part of the Capcom DNA and approach. They really respect that on their side too, so in that sense it's a collaboration." ... Again, why reference these games and the legacy of this franchise in response to a question about Marvel dictating what they include? Like a covert way of dispelling the fact that it's another MCU trojan horse? And them reiterating that they have this freedom, only to keep it MCU-centric in the end? They also mention Marvel gives them a roadmap of what's going on in the comics in the future to inform what characters they include. Again.. how is that relevant if it's all MCU at the end of the day anyways?

- Metro Interview which has a flat out denial that they'd only include MCU characters and a no comment on X-Men/FF (and some joking about other characters). Also noted is that the Japan team has input on what characters they want.

- Also in the Metro Interview: "You also have Chun-Li and Captain Marvel: two very powerful female characters that are at the forefront. So we're looking at characters that play off each other well, work together well. But also important, as you say, is those more fan service characters that people want to see brought back." - Again, why mention fan service and strong female characters if you're going to forgo that for the most part.

-----

I'm not saying that these statements from a company people have little faith in in 2017 are the rule of law, but it just feels like it doesn't add up. And despite Capcom going suddenly silent on things like a story mode for MvC3, it just feels weird for them to go hard on talking points like it's not just the MCU, and there will be strong female characters, for there to basically just be an MCU cast and like no female characters. Just things to consider that can either inspire hope or make the ditch they're digging even deeper.

I think that's how a lot of people are feeling about the game right now, Giga.

I don't see an issue like this affecting its popularity in the FGC, but that's so minuscule to the demographic they're trying to sell this game to. The FGC will get over it. Casuals likely won't. They'd just avoid it altogether if it doesn't seem appealing to them.

But it is funny when you think about how thirsty we were for news, only for everything to just be bad. You had the DP change, but that was something everyone got over quickly once we learned more. This roster leak pretty much destroyed the hype all at once. Meanwhile, all of those who were waiting for Capcom to fuck up are just gloating about it. What a time to be a Capcom fan....

Nice analysis, enzo.

This time, we were talking about this twitter account, not RikuRikuMore.

He said Tom Holland would voice Spider-Man in MVCI. My point is none of MCU actors and actresses voiced any of those characters in the game, so why would Tom Holland would be the exceptional in this case?

What if Ryce's source was given bogus info so that Capcom could pinpoint who the leaker in house was?

no I'm not serious. Hopefully...
