Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

Wouldn't Quasar make more sense as a Green Lantern rep (aka construct maker)?

Songbird would be alright though, I wouldn't object much to be honest. Maybe throw Medusa in there too somewhere as an Inhuman rep.

Thunderbolts being part of MCU isn't out of question tho since James Gunn want to make the movie. It's matters of them approving the project or not.

Edited: Songbird art if anyone cares.

EDIT: But yeah, nobody likes Beast, he can go.

EDIT2: Posting for archival purposes, and stirring shit because it's either that or ruminate over the underwhelming Ryce/Saikyobro leak:

The reason why the Mega Man X series is heavily represented in MVCI is because apparently( I found out yesterday ) a new MMX game is coming
The voice cast from MVCI that voices the mega man X characters will be returning for the new MMX game as well
But yeah I know Ray Chase is voicing a Mega Man Character and I don't see him voicing vile or sigma lmao, he sounds just like zero so..

Yeah, they cut [Akuma] in favor of a SFV rep

My source is [Riku's] source and he gives me a little more info for some.. Odd reason actually
I think the Leaked roster from Ryce is an E3 playable build( but I doubt they'll do reveals for that many characters before e3 )
If it is a playable build, there will be no trailers for all the playable characters until Trailers during and after E3, which is weird
Everyone on Ryces list appears to be in minus a few characters, it's possible there's a couple of typos from Ryces source
I'm Sharing the full roster after E3, stay tuned.
My source is giving me the full roster on June 13.
For those who don't want a bunch of UMVC3 veterans.. The roster is a huge fucking dissapointment( not much better than Ryces honestly )

No Ken sadly

ah shit there's a slight chance Dante in MVCI might not be classic Dante.. Damnit
we got the first amnesiac leaker, always missremembering

Beast is better than trash like Iron Man.

Dante being based on DmC would be like when we got Bad Box Art Mega Man in SFxT. Some are gonna love it, but there's gonna be a good chunk of pissed off people. Even if he played the same.

DmC Dante would make for a pretty dope gameplay gimmick with the light and dark (or whatever it's called), which I presume is what PSASBR did with the character. But because that character is already in PSASBR, I'd prefer DMC3 Dante.

Or... DMC5 Dante if an E3 reveal is to coincide with an announcement. Which was also a rumour back with MvC3. Everything is cyclical.

Going through this VesperArcade podcast:

I have to heavily disagree with the point of exclusion of characters based on FG legacy or character tier. I think it was Sneakers who said that he's glad that he doesn't have to see Magneto/Storm/Sentinel dominate another Marvel game again. I mean ok but neither Storm nor Sentinel really dominated Marvel 3 and you still have characters like Morrigan, Dante, Nova, Firebrand and Strider who were good/dominant in Marvel 3. I do not believe that you should be excluding characters just because they were good in the past game or the game before that... that's just asking for more trouble. You fix this issue through balancing, not just straight up exclusion. Magneto was good in Marvel 2 because he was good in Marvel 2... if he was ass like Thanos then no one would play him.

Yeah that's just about the dumbest logic possible

Get rid of Fox in smash bros eh

Fuckin hell

Makes no sense to remove an entire character because they're too dominant, as if by that point in the meta they're not acutely aware of where the imbalance stems from and can't correct for it like a regular balance path.

I mean.. Morrigan is back, and different.

That part legit made me roll my eyes while listening.

Only guy that seems to know what the hell he's talking about is the guy with what seems to be a crappy mic. Its funny, because it seems like every time he talks, the others downplay him.

EDIT 1: Rocket is definitely a new character. You didn't see them calling Hawkeye, Hawkeye/Ant-Man in UMVC3 because he had Ant-Man in his special. The real question is, is he riding Groot the whole time.

EDIT 2: Neoxon is who I was referring to.

Maybe I'm just a naive hopeful Marvel fan, but I'm optimistic about E3 next week.

I think everything is going to be alright.

Please don't throw things at me.

Thanks, man. That being said, my little bro jacked my better mic.

Letting characters out because they were dominant in 3 is just dumb IMO.

Storm, Sentinel, Magneto and so on are supposedly not in the game because of the ban rather than if they were top tier or not.

I'm currently trying to save up for an even better mic for future podcasts.

Might I suggest getting a Blue Yeti. Its the mic I currently have and I find it dope. Its a usb mic though and it sits on your table. So im not sure exactly what you're looking for but it's some quality stuff.

It will be a massive dissapointment to not see the xmen characters on marvel vs capcom infinite

They are truly the world warriors/champion edition roster of the series. You have to include as much of them as possible in the game

Even with the SFII characters, not many would lose any sleep if E. Honda or Dee Jay never return. Take SFV for example, it pretty much has all of the SFII characters that most people give a shit about besides Sagat & (maybe) Fei Long, and the former is already rumored to be in Season 3.

As for the X-Men, I'm sure they'll be DLC with Marvel changing their ways (plus what Ryce & Sneakers said). But given how petty Marvel Entertainment was at the time, Capcom likely couldn't do much about it.

I'd say the World Warrior equivalents are Wolverine, Storm, Magneto, Dr. Doom, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America and Hulk.

Only Wolverine, Storm, Magneto, Deadpool and Dr. Doom are the musts of the X-Men/F4 characters that need to be in. Most people do not care about Cyclops, Sentinel, Phoenix, X-23, Iceman, Colossus, Rogue, Psylocke and Gambit in the grand scheme of things. Heck, Beast, Nightcrawler, Kitty Pryde and Mystique have never been playable and they are more important than a lot of the other X-Men characters people clamor for.

So as we all know, both sides are rough. But I want to know, which side do you personally think is the worst. For me, It's the Capcom side. Like I dont even know where to begin with it...

I've realized that the 2 people on here that I seem to agree with damn near all the time is Neoxon & Dahbomb.

Neoxon is, in my opinion, the face of NeoGAF's FGC division. I imagine he has a corner office and everything...

For me, the Marvel side couldn't be much worse than what was leaked (I guess they could have traded Captain Marvel for someone more boring as well). I would have preferred dumb characters over incredibly boring ones.

Marvel is probably worse objectively. Not many fan favorites, wanted newcomers, big surprises, and its really avengers heavy. Capcom's representation may not be ideal and full of reused mvc3 characters but it covers most of the big franchises and we did get Jedah and X out of it.

From a purely personal standpoint i fared better with the marvel side since i got Captain Marvel(with a really good design unlike the current comics), Gamora, and Ant-Man out of it. Capcom is just jedah and nemesis.

Yeah, same. With Marvel, there's a built in excuse for that roster. Capcom has no excuse for their side. At all. Both are terrible, though.

Capcpom side way worse, marvel is scummy and trying to sell dlc of better folks. Scummy but I understand.

Capcom even if they are doing the exact same thing has no reason for their roster to look like that. There are bunches of other folks even they wanted to sell dlc, would look better
