Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

I'm just looking forward to seeing matches right about now. The roster is whatever. Still annoyed, but being annoyed won't change it.

Hope Ant-Man is in the E3 build.

Agreed, but hopefully Marvel doesn't go for an additional kick in the balls by picking Sam Alexander.

Gameplay still sounds hype as fuck and we're going to see pros getting hands-on within the next two weeks, so it's going to be super exciting what they figure out based on the limited early knowledge we have about the systems. My hype is pretty much where it was at pre-leaks, and we're about to get reveals too.

As a poor casual fighter I'm just praying they at least show off the capcom newcomers. Seeing Jedah and Monster Hunter would help if they're at lease hype.

I am more excited to see Dante... in his new outfit (hopefully)

Dante, Monster Hunter, Jedah, Thanos, Antman and Gamorrah are the only characters I am really looking forward to seeing game play wise. Maybe Rocket/Groot depending on how much they changed his moveset.

I think Firebrand too because I am pretty sure there is no way the unblockable remains so he's probably going to be retooled as well. If the unblockable remains then we will still have Firebrand unblockable set ups because of the Tag system.

I prolly want to play gamora and ultron but for sure ultron is going to be my main.

I said before why I think gameplay wise this interest me much more than MvC3 so I'm still excited to see pros get their hands on it.

I know nothing about Sam outside of the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon. Would they fight differently? Or is it just Sam in particular that you dislike?

We haven't seen Ryu in awhile. I could see Hado Kakusei being gone now.

Sam in particular, though he does better as part of an ensemble (w/ Miles & Kamala) or with Richard as his mentor. The main problem was that Marvel, up until recently, tried to cram him down our throats (similar to their Inhumans push).

That said, Sam has the more powerful helmet despite being wet behind the ears, so I could see him fighting somewhat differently compared to Richie.

Interesting. There's still a lot I don't know about current Marvel. I didn't even know who Ms. Marvel was until I read Civil War 2.

I warmed up to Nova in UMVC3, since I didn't know much about him beforehand. I liked the way he interacted with the cast. Based on that alone, I'd like to see Richie return.

Part of me also wants to see Richie & Gamora interact in MvCI, given their......history.

Going through this VesperArcade podcast:

I have to heavily disagree with the point of exclusion of characters based on FG legacy or character tier. I think it was Sneakers who said that he's glad that he doesn't have to see Magneto/Storm/Sentinel dominate another Marvel game again. I mean ok but neither Storm nor Sentinel really dominated Marvel 3 and you still have characters like Morrigan, Dante, Nova, Firebrand and Strider who were good/dominant in Marvel 3. I do not believe that you should be excluding characters just because they were good in the past game or the game before that... that's just asking for more trouble. You fix this issue through balancing, not just straight up exclusion. Magneto was good in Marvel 2 because he was good in Marvel 2... if he was ass like Thanos then no one would play him.

between that, "i main wesker and he's totally like dante or strider but with shades", "dante and vergil are basically the same character" that dude is an endless source of entertainment

like, the amount he shills for capcom and the ignorance he has in terms of what the games actually are while attempting to give an air of being knowledgeable and above it all makes me think of that initial reveal interview w/ the 2 producers on this game where the marvel side guy kept saying really bizarre and moronic shit like how you wouldn't need a $300-500 dollar custom controller to be competitive after nuckledu had already won capcom cup at the same event

anyways for nova it's like 99% chance it's richie just 'cuz of re-use potential + how much more connection he has with the space bros like thanos, guardians (gamora esp.) and co. in terms of character interaction in the story

Tbh, I'm not really losing sleep over the loss of Vergil, Doom, and Zero. Maybe it's a poor reason, but I've seen more than enough of them, so I do understand the sentiment.

Not gonna lie, that part gave me red flags back when I watched it.

I just didn't understand the point of even bringing it up there.

They could easily have made Groot his own character with Nemesis' moveset, just replace the tentacles with tendrils and the rockets with some plant based projectile.

People would have been a lot more accepting od Groot over Nemesis getting a slot.

Nah, Thanos has to be retooled.

He only had 2 specials in MVC2. The Bubble and that stupid headbutt looking attack. He had a diving elbow, but that was a command normal.

In MSH, I think his cr.HP was some rock projectile he throws at you.

All of his supers were from the Infinity Gauntlet. I doubt he'll be wielding them this time around.

Would be interesting if it was such that if you have Thanos on your team, you cannot pick an Infinity Stone, but he has all of the infinity stones as installs.

I remember when Phoenix Wright's moveset leaked, I thought it was so fake. He has his own bit of the UI added? No way they'd do that. And then it happened. And now Chris has some form of ammo mechanic too. I like when characters break the rules of the game, and if anyone is going to take a unique strategy to play against (like Phoenix), it should be Thanos.

That's an interesting idea. Would be hella crazy.

We've already seen Chris with the reload mechanic, so I'm expecting to see more with future characters. I'm expecting Ant-Man to have a timer for how long he can shrink or grow. I wonder if Frank's lvl system will return.

Based on the impression I read, Chris has a lot of trouble reloading without getting hit. With no assist to cover him, I wonder how this'll be a thing.

marvel 2 moveset copypasta
Jesus that would be disappointing, I'm 100% positive that it won't happen though. That shit moveset wouldn't work in a vs game plus thanos look has changed as well. I really hope he gets the Samaritan outfit as an alt. I'm thinking large cosmic energy blasts from his hands some sort of shield and a command grab of some sort. Maybe an armored heavy punch similar to the hulk.

That Thanos idea is Hella cool man. I didn't think of that at all.

I'd love the bubble to come back personally, but I'm sure he won't be even remotely the same.

With Chris you can probably just reload into Tag to cover the reload animation.

You guys have to stop thinking as this game having "no assists". The Tag is the assist, it covers very similar functions with more possibilities because you can also do it during hyper combos.

Sneakers is a game developer so he comes from that perspective.

haha, i guess i wasn't too far off with that vibe i was gettin' w/ that whole producer interview deal then

Not gonna lie, that part gave me red flags back when I watched it.

I just didn't understand the point of even bringing it up there.

it was said in the context of the design goals for the game- specifically, in making it more accessible to the average person. the intent in the statement itself isn't really harmful since it's basically just a followup to "we're designing the game for pads since that's the controller the majority of folks use" but the statement itself betrays the ignorance he has for the what the actual game and community is in such a massive manner that the only real allaying factor is that the dude is workin' from the marvel side of the producer's role where that knowledge might not really be a necessity in the first place

what folks are probably thinking is that chris reloading means he can't cover the incoming char so depending on how fast the tagging char comes out to continue a blockstring since that'd be the primary way to really cover his ass when he does it
otherwise you'd either be tagging into him raw dog by covering him w/ whatever move into reload since raw reload->tag would theoretically open yourself up to getting birthdayed depending on what conversion options there are- theoretically you could just raw super a raw reload->tag and tag in your dude to get a full combo on that kinda shit

Somewhat off-topic but since the other thread is dead, are God Hand, Devil May Cry HD Collection, Okami HD and Strider good games from the Capcom library? Thanks to MvC and other Capcom crossovers I've been wanting to play more of their franchises.

Yes they are. Definitely play those games. :)

Yes they are good games. So is Viewtiful Joe.

Devil May Cry 2 sucks though, never play it.

After beating DMC3, I actually started playing DMC2 despite reading the various opinions telling me to stay away. I assumed it was just over-exaggerated.

Then I realized it wasn't.

Right now probably Iron Man/Ultron/Space Gem. I like beam assists way too much. Seriously have no idea what Nova would look like in this game with how similar Ultron is.

My training mode/wannabe custom combo team would be Iron Man/Gamora/Time Gem probably.

Spider-Man or Cap point/still deciding on a few from the Marvel side.

Hawkeye/Ant-Man/Gamora/Carol/Nova are the likely candidates. Probably not Ultron or Stark if he's anything like UMvC3 still.

If Torch was in this I'd run the BFFs. Time stone looks fun but really don't know until the rest are revealed.

Probably X and Cap will be my goto if something manages to grab me on release day. Need to see what the other gems do before I decide on that. Not that I expect to be underwhelmed, they've been the most interesting and varied things in these reveals.
