Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

Is Arms considered a fighting game? Yes.

Did Arms get a nomination for the E3 fighting game award? No.

Did Arms just not outdo both Street Fighter V and Tekken 7 in less than a week? Yes.

Okay then.

The pure fact that I can confirm features about the game from watching a rando Youtube video or get impressions from someone who isn't paid makes your point moot.

We can go deeper:

Ahem.

We can't trust that a random youtuber saying that MvC:I is good isn't just saying it because it's a "controversial" opinion right now. Perhaps they're saying it because they want to be contrarian to get more clicks.

More clicks = more money.

In that interview, Evans says they weren't restricted and simply choose the characters that fit the system well.

He also said "not all characters appearing in the future are from the MCU". The "future" could be referring to the remaining unannounced characters or DLC, but I think it's about the latter. I wish there was a better translation of this.

That's a bold face lie. We all know damn well that if they could have put Deadpool & Wolverine in this game they would have.

Just imagine this thread and the reception for the game had Capcom not fucked up the presentation.

Doubt we'd be in the pickle we are now. We could've just been worrying about the roster.

How do we know Capcom hasn't paid off the people hitting the Like button?

Makes the noggin' start joggin' tbh

Yeah, the E3 presentation was bad. I'm not sure why they didn't just do the gameplay video instead.

I'm really not sure what's going on at this point.

Okay then.

I'm not denying Arms is a fighting game but this is like how Mario Kart sells way better than other racing games like Forza or Gran Turismo.

That makes sense. People complained about that for SFV, so that would explain why they showed the trailer and gave us the story demo.

I'm not denying Arms is a fighting game but this is like how Mario Kart sells way better than other racing games like Forza or Gran Turismo.

My main reason for using Arms was mainly based on the fact that it didn't get any awards at E3.

MVCI got none while DBFZ did, but what does that really mean? DBFZ was a pleasant surprise that came out of nowhere. Most seem to use the awards as a reason for why this game is going to crush MVCI. It's stupid.

Also, I know a lot of us are just fans of the game but ALL of us can see that this game doesn't look good visually, how come nobody at Capcom thinks this game doesn't look good either. The problem with Capcom is that they can nail one aspect of a game (usually the most important aspect) but neglect the rest.

Well, Noizy said both the E3 and the demo were months old.

I hope the current build is considerably more impressive visually.

It would be perfect if this was an Injustice 2 beta situation where the game looked significantly better months later.

Mechanics and design wise this game looks perfect. They did everything right. They made the game easier to understand while simultaneously raising the skill ceiling. That is no easy feat.

From a graphical or marketing perspective though the couldn't have fucked up harder. They could've had so much hype from the public right now if they handled that better but instead people are hating the game and turning Dante's God awful model into a meme.

Also the roster is ass but that's probably due to budget constraints

1. As far as gameplay and mechanics this game is good, real good.

2. Them failing on the graphics and marketing is their biggest fail. When it comes to graphics especially with a sequel at a minimum it should look just as good as the previous entry and if there is a generational leap then yeah it should look better. The marketing of this game has been abysmal. No other way to put it.

3. The roster. It can be tied to both the budget and bad decision making. The budget would limit how many characters are in the game and how many can be built from scratch to a degree. Now the bad decision making from both Marvel & Capcom can be seen here immediately. You know there is a problem when people are already talking and looking forward to DLC characters legitimately months before the game comes out.

The shilling commentary has gotten way out of hand.

I can understand complaints about shilling when Justin and co are invited to Capcom VIP posting pics of the experience and then using #MVCI to tweet out their impressions. That's suspect as hell but not even that out of the ordinary in the past.

At this point way too many people have gotten hands on the game and the general consensus is that the game is hella fun and Marvel like. Everyone is not a shill so people need to get off with this shit asap because it doesn't promote healthy discussion.

People still complaining about shills now are just those with agendas and want this game to be bad so they can justify their hatred towards the game or Capcom.

It's Dem Primaries '16: Capcom edition. It's ridiculous.

It's such a cynical mindset. It's like they actively want to game to be bad and do bad to fit their narrative and come around and go: "See! Crapcom sucks! Told you so!" It's weird how easy it is to flip some of the most passionate fans.

I actively want it to improve and do well. I want it to sell well so that we get a plethora of content down the line.

it's the stream monster/youtube comments mindset.

everyone is a shill. everything is fake. collusion. fixed. scripted. etc.

I personally feel like this is the mindset most have. Just when you look at how capcom has taken feedback, seems they only listen to overwhelming negativity. Thus you have everyone being mean to the game since it's a stance of "We want you to be better, if you're not gonna bother even after all this, fuck off".

I can't completely blame it, since I don't really recall the last time feedback was taken not stemming from some form of negativity.

Sad part is that these stream monsters/youtube comments are influencing the game's perception at a wider scale.

The game is a new meme for people to whip. Even Pewdiedie is getting in on the meme action.

LMAO @ the Velociraptor video though!

"This is the best game ever made... best fighting game, best video game... hell better than games like basketball"

"The word is not ready for it!"

"This game is so good that the players don't deserve it."

This is all you need to know about this whole shilling non sense:
: Do you have any thoughts about the accusations people have been making towards professional players in regards to their opinions on Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Specifically the claims of them being paid by Capcom?

UltraDavid: Nobody in fighting games has enough influence to bother paying them to say good things about a major developer's game.

I already thought that top players and commentators didn't have much influence on which games people like; certainly my own enthusiasm for games like SFXT 2013 and UNIEL never did much for their playerbases. In this case, some parts of the community have pushed back on top players' opinions so strongly and unthinkingly that you had to interview me about the legalities of an obvious nonsense claim.

Is there any better way to demonstrate how little weight top players' opinions carry? Why would Capcom pay to influence opinions that can't influence opinions?

I hope people who believe this shilling stuff realize that their own reaction is the reason why their own reaction is absurd.

"And I hope through some series of terrible events, they're unable to ever play it."

I'm sure someone already posted but here is a 40min video with various pros (and Keits, ex-pro :p) battling it out at CEO. Starts off with a Rocket which I hadnt seen yet, so for me its new.

edit: the more I see people use tags the more it actually looks like assists, I'm seeing alot of "special move into tag rush in while the previous character stays doing the special move" much like you would do with a assist. Neat.

Damn, I was downgraded to ex-pro instead of upgraded to fighting game combat designer.

(Rocket ground combos were so hard for me to get the hang of. I blame years of Rocket UMvC3 muscle memory.)

I know you know your shit, so how are you feeling about the game?

Everyone in this thread is a shill tbqh.
Including the people who don't like the game.
We've been Sony shills, Microsoft shills, Nintendo shills, PC Master Race shills, Street Fighter shills, Tekken shills, Mario shills, etc, ad nauseum. I've seen Neogaf being called a shill for just about every game or company under the Goddamn Sun.

What I wanna know is, WHERE IS MY MONEY THEN?

But also, yeah this whole thing reeks of "Stop liking what I don't like" and it's simple minded as fuck.

Lets take literally the worst possible section of our game and make it the only way people have to play it for months! On the worst stage! GENIUS!

I may be a minority but the demo blew me away and sent me from "I hope this game fails fuck Capcom and Marvel" to cautiously hyped. Also Xgard is an awesome stage IMO. I understand a lot of the complaints and they are all justified but I don't get how people are complaining about the stage. Vakanda looks especially gorgeous

The fact that any discussion is being framed in this manner - shills and nils, as were, is definitely a testimony to failure at some juncture.

Yeahhhhhhhhh, that demo was a bad idea.

I absolutely agree, it shows the worst parts of the game and uses their incomplete lighting which makes the game look a lot worse than the E3 build (graphically).

Capcom is kind of blundering their way through this generation. I want more good fighting games but this is the first Capcom game I'm passing on on release. I've been burned twice. I hope people enjoy the game, but a lot of people aren't hyped and are really upset with how they've treated us in the past as customers.

IMO it's important to remove the bias from what people are saying. Top players are going to be biased towards a successful game they're good at if it's their primary source of income. It's an inherent bias. It's like backing up your friend even if he does something stupid. I don't think they're shills, but I do think that bias is very real.

I think everyone wants to see good fighting games released, but people should judge the game for themselves. There's a lot of people who don't like it, legitimately, and are not trying to take it down as some sort of vendetta. There are people who can look past the questionable graphical quality, heavily reused resources, the possibly predatory DLC structure, and uh, well the story maybe some people like that style of ham, but I don't think it's even unintentionally entertaining from what I've played. The people who can look past that and find a gameplay system they like, or subjectively enjoy some of those things, that's cool for them. I hope everyone gets along and likes what they like.

But there are valid criticisms and I hope everyone takes them seriously. I am pretty upset at Capcom releasing a game that simply does not look like it lives up to the standards they should be reaching, but everyone is entitled to liking what they like and I won't knock that.
