I honestly don't know what team I want to play anymore. Maverick Hunters were looking like day 1, now Thanos, Gamora, Jedah, and Captain Marvel are making that difficult. I'll just play around with everyone until I'm comfortable.

Right?

It might take me some time to find a definite team to use.

Did anyone catch what Haggar said to Spidey before the match began?

"You're not the only one protecting the city, web head!"

Ha. Awesome.

Haggar also appears to say 2 different lines to Thanos. He talks about him needing to fill out an "alien registration form", and I think he called him a "2 bit heel" in the other. Gotta look again, but this banter is cool.

Yeah, there's a lot to play around with here.

I have like 10 possible teams in the air. Kinda sucks that it's not 3v3 because that would help me alot in deciding my team. Will probably use the maverick hunters just because I love the characters and been wanting to use them in a game for so long.

What do people think of Haggar's voice/lines? I feel like there's still some weirdness there like the others but Haggar seems to be having fun almost all the time in this game :P

I like Haggar's dialogue.

I'm already thinking of the amount of dialogue unique teams will have. You know Sigma is going to say something to X/Zero as a teammate and an enemy. I wonder if Chris will say anything to Nemesis.

Yeah, he also said "I'll pay ya back back for when ya saved me!" as another intro.

Love it.

I like the fact that that they just embraced the hammy and protective badassery nature of the Mayor.

I just want to play X. I just need a buddy for him that's simple to learn and covers his weaknesses. So Haggar seems like a good place to start. Morrigan, Captain America, Hulk, or Thor are also in play.

Speaking of Thor, does anyone ever pick him in the previews? I don't think I've seen a live Thor in the leadup to this... What does he even do?

In the EVO video footage Max posted a Capcom guy was doing crazy stuff with Thor/Strider Hiryu

Anyone else feel like the meters at the bottom of the screen make it difficult to see low attacks in the corners? The hyper meter is fine, but I feel like the infinity meter blocks too much of the lower part of the screen. Am I just crazy?

Thanks, I haven't watched all of Max's footage so I missed that one.

So Thor has a chargeable divekick now? That's new, isn't it? I mean if you hover in the air and emit sparks, your intentions are pretty obvious. (You're going to tag in your partner for a low kick, of course.) He looks like he's at home in the air in that video. He might be a good partner to X, then. X has anti-air, but he looks pretty grounded.

Honestly not seeing much of the Thor I remember from 3... which is likely a good thing. Thor was not all that great in that game. I do hope he kept Mighty Speech. I mean it's useless in a real fight, but a god's gotta style, too.

Thor with mind stone

Infinity surge into Mighty Speech :P

Hmm...wait...could you trap the opponent in the space surge and then go to the opposite side of the screen and mighty speech?

Also forgot about Venom and potentially Winter Soldier. Loved Venom in the OG days and Bucky is my boy. I'll be playing them hella.

I don't play Spider-Man but his web throw tech is going to be outrageous. He and Haggar are my favorite characters I don't actually play. Dormammu is tight too

Skrulls in Captain Marvel movie.

SS DLC in 2019 :3

Vedah is easily my primary Day 1 team. So hype for both of them.

Ryu/Haggar and Gamora/Thanos might be my other teams.

I had no idea the teammates spoke to one another this time. That means even more dialogue and personality, the latter this game definitely needs more of.

And I think that first line to Thanos is a reference to mutant and superhero registration in the comics. Seeing as how Haggar is a politician, it makes sense for him to be more aware of these things.

Yes, so long as they don't have a full screen projectile or attack. (which is almost no one)

I'm realizing a Marvel vs Capcom game is just way too huge in scope. Fans will probably always be pissed their favorite character is left out.

I'm thinking best route to go is probably a 'service' game where it constantly evolves like a MOBA. Granted, folks will gripe they have to pay for DLC characters so you're gonna be the bad guy either way unless you pull a Valve and release a game for free with full supporting cast and only charge for accessories.

Granted I have decided all I want is Black Panther. I only will probably main like 2-3 heroes anyways

While I was pleasantly surprised to see some characters pop up that weren't in the leak (iirc), this still feels like a cash-grab on Capcom's end and Disney forcing an MCU agenda on the other. It doesn't feel like it exists for the right reasons, as opposed to something like UMvC3 or many older titles that felt like a passion project.

Gameplay sounds very much like a passion project.

If it weren't, they would have just copied the UMvC3 engine. They didn't do that at all.
The fundamental engine is extremely different.

2v2, entirely different button config, wild stone system, free tag system.

Plus, it's the first Marvel game to have a legit, cinematic story mode. Cheesy or not, that takes A LOT OF WORK. Work that MvC3 didn't put in. In fact, that was one of the biggest complaints about MvC3...no story.

I don't know how anyone could say there's no passion here.

Yes. People were doing this at E3.
Seems like a perfectly natural way to use the shame cube to me. Of course, the real trick is to know for every character the exact range where that's safe to do so you can taunt them exactly one step away from that.

I wonder how the Mighty Speech works with tagging out. Does Thor keep talking or does he leave ASAP if you tag mid-speech?

Yeah I'm with you I would like a story of some sort just to get me started along with some tutorials + arcade mode. Just those bare bones at least before I hop online.

Granted I also want Frame Data which apparently no one seems to do except NRS? Seems like mandatory base feature too me

My favourite part about time passing is MvC2 nostalgia wearing off and people realizing how (U)MvC3 is far and away the greatest MvC game.

It could have been in top 5 best fighters ever if UMVC3 got a small patch to iron out the little problems, still is the greatest Mahvel game tho.

Speaking to this a bit, I think it'll be easier to swap characters around you like a lot more often, since:

a) you have fewer characters to choose from so teams aren't as set in stone and
b) the combo system (at least, as we know it) feels like it makes it easier to mix and match characters, leading to fewer situations where characters have to rely on someone else to work.

Speaking of Thor Ragnarok, How would people feel if
Surtur
was DLC

Western devs tend to do frame data. Skullgirls and Killer Instinct have them IIRC. Skullgirls has a hotbox viewer.

We would be lucky for them to rip off MvC3 gameplay and add a dozen characters in.

Seems like they've put a lot more work into unique voice lines this game.
Such a shame the voice acting isn't there to back it up. Extra in match dialogue based on match ups is one of the best details Blazblue has (that we can't enjoy any more because of no dubs) so I'm glad another game is sort of doing it too.
