Or he was supposed to be revealed at EVO, like Ghost Rider, Dormammu, and Firebrand were supposed to be revealed through these twitter announcements. (accidentally leaking the cover in July screwed that up, but they still kept with the original plan, it seems)


Why would Marvel and Capcom reveal everything they have weeks before Gamescom? And I stand by that if Venom was planned to be DLC S1, they would have revealed him earlier (SDCC DLC #2) and he would have been on his cover.

It's great for them to be trying to have a long term strategy for esports. It just can't come at a cost of content in game at release. If they release a solid game with a not-pathetic amount of content in the package like SFV that plays well and people are excited to compete in then those plans can only benefit it long term. If the game sucks then those plans will fall apart faster than you can say Street Fighter vs Tekken.

That's not my point. My point is they are still actively planning for MVCI's future so they aren't going to drop everything they had for the game because of doomsayers and angry fans. I meant we heard a lot of nonsense things from people, for example: we wouldn't have Character Pass 2018; or people being concerned that Character Pass 2017 would be our only DLC. I really found it odd for people to think we wouldn't get Character Pass 2018 despite that they probably already started their jobs for next year contents.

Fact is, Capcpom said way back in 2016 that they were gonna support SFV till 2020.

I would be surprised AF if they didn't have a similar plan for MvC:I uptill at least 2019.

You don't butcher a game's roster this bad and push it as an Esport this hard only to abandon if things don't look good at a particular point. Whatever their strategy or plan is, it's something they're going to see through barring some incredibly horrible unforeseeable event.

Exactly. And Marvel already approved their plan so they probably wouldn't give up on that unless something went pretty bad with the companies.

I meant Marvel already considered the game as Service-A-Game so I don't see them bailing out on the game anytime soon.

That cover is not a place holder. However it might have been a last minute replacement to avoid spoiling a big reveal at Gamescom? Maybe?

I definitely feel like X-Men are in development for DLC, and as long as the game does well I think we'll see good DLC support for at least 2 years.
 
you know Neo, I mean... Season 1 will go very fast as far as we know / what they've said.

All characters are supposed to come out this year. that means in the 3 months following the September release.

Pushing Venom to season 2 isnt as far fetched as you make it out to be, if we assume season 2 would start early in the year and he, for example, was the first one out.

Not sure about last minute, but I could see Venom being bumped from DLC S1 to default if AntMan was scrapped because they couldn't make him work or something,

which means the artist has an awesome Venom/MonHun or maybe Haggar (BP was supposed to be Monhun maybe?) cover that will never be released/be released in another MVC Variant month(Marvel does these a lot).

It all depends on when Season 2 starts.
 
Capcom really fucked up. They only waited for big events to drop news. Problem with that was that they didn't consider that they could get overshadowed. The Marvel covers came out before they were ready to make announcements for the last characters, something they also didn't consider which means they had to announce characters on Twitter. Lol.... Such a mess.

They "revealed" these characters on a freaking alternative comic cover.

Clearly you need a reminder of who's developing and publishing this game.

Well, if Gamescom only really has Firebrand, Dormmy, Rider and Jedah, and they dont say anything definitive, I hope at least some outlet asks them directly "is this the final roster?"

But since I dont think anyone like Max will be there, they probably wont X_X

Does it strike anyone else odd that Capcom chose Rogue and Lilith to put next to MVC1? Yeah, they were in the game, but as assist characters.

In fact, that's a lot of X-Men characters in places where it doesn't really make sense.

what are you talking about? that CPT internal video? dont even try to get "clues" from that dude, nothing in there could possibly mean anything concerning choices for the game, its just random stock footage.

Rogue is MvC2 art.

They used Lilith with Morrigan color palette so It made me wonder if they meant to pick Morrigan or they are trying to censored Morrigan by going with Lilith since she's not too revealing as Morrigan.

Or they likely just took whatever art they happened to have on hand.

It'd be kind of ridiculous to censor Morrigan with Lilith when the later is way more problematic on a cultural level.
 
Its just weird. Why no Spider-man art or even IRON MAN? Why use MAA art for ONE character when there's perfectly good MVC2 Psylocke art to choose from? There's gotta be non-xmen related stock footage.

Morrigan isn't covered enough but Felicia is?
 
I was actually really impressed with the video. Like, John D is purely an eSports guy. It''s what he was brought in to do, and this is actually the first thing out of MvC:I's time in public since the debut where I can go "I totally understand what you're doing and this makes complete logical sense." Which has not been the case for so, so many other things w/ this game and its marketing.
 
I believe we should call Mr. Gerrard to the stand.

What if Gerrard is the SaikyoBro leaker from yesterday and is now impersonating a Capcom rep and intentionally posting that here?
