I've seen a lot of people share 7Th's opinion on that. Wolverine has never missed a Capcom Marvel game. If they couldn't get him in, chances are it wasn't possible no matter what.
There's no legal battles to fight to include the Xmen. Marvel is internally barring them. How many times does Neoxon have to tell us?
I know, I was joking. There was no battle because they didnt even bother. They know.
It's why I think people asking Capcom devs about Fox character is shitty. They cant do anything, they cant say anything, and you are putting these people on the spot when you already know the awnser.

Honestly right now my biggest hope for this game is that Joe and Ammy are being saved to release alongside Gene in some kind of Clover pack.

so we are done with covers right? so at Gamescom its either just Firebrand / Dormammu, or its those 2 plus 2 others (at least?) we dont know about, probably Ghost Rider and...someone judging from the zip leak.
I don't think you know how these negotiations work either tbh.

None of us actually know. What we know is that the X-Men aren't in because Marvel said so. That's that.

Defenders having Ghost Rider and Jedah
Black Panther having Monster Hunter and Black Panther
but for Thanos I do not know
Thanos having Thanos and maybe the second Capcom DLC character or maybe Morrigan?

And it really should have, since that game still looks visually appealing. Upping the textures, increasing the polygons per character, and adding a bit more details to the faces so they can be better animated for the Story Mode would have almost been enough imo.

I'd guess Jedah on the Thanos cover and Morrigan on the Defenders cover. I'm still convinced that Jedah wasn't going to be announced.

By "wildcard", do you mean "totally unexpected brand new character in the base roster"? Cause that's not happening.
The best we can hope for is Venom and Monster Hunter actually being in (though I don't care about MH, personally).
My biggest concern right now is how the online play is going to be. I think this game is going to be more demanding and require a better netcode than UMvC3 provided in order for people to actually have fun with it.
Right now the most surprising thing that can happen is Hunter being base instead of DLC, probably.

Yeah, a character no one expected.
I think Venom and MH would be great additions to the roster. I just wish there was a character we weren't expecting to make the roster.

What happens with Winter Soldier and AntMan is still a wildcard (in my opinion). Also, the fate of MODOK....is still sorta in question.

You either misunderstand my point, or YOU misunderstand how contracts work yourself.

Nobody believes that, but to assume that Marvel is cool with Capcom using literally anybody they want is ludicrous.
Even with someone like Demitri, all Marvel would say is "Can you take out Midnight Bliss?" or something like that. Beyond the remote possibility of Marvel wanting parity in newcomers on both sides, I don't think they really care about who Capcom adds.

Yeah, I find it kind of hard to believe that Marvel would really dictate much regarding the Capcom side of things. I'm pretty certain that the roster on their side and its lack of X-men and FF characters, and heavy focus on the MCU, was mostly Marvel's doing though since that was (and still sort of is) their prerogative right now. They may have wanted to push for a more realistic style, but then again, they may have been fine with the look that MvC3 had. Since they're not a game company, I think that they wouldn't have much of an opinion on how Capcom handles things beyond the Marvel roster and representation of those characters in the game. Given how much flak Infinite is getting, I don't think we'll have actual clarification regarding how much input was had by Marvel for a long time.

Capcom's best animations have been in SF3, Darkstalkers, Marvel 3 then in SFV and the DMC series.
