Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster |DT2| oh dear...

So after looking at his cover, the chances of a Miles Morales skin being included are pretty good, right? I remember reading he was very close to being in the last game.
 
It feels like everyone braced for a bad 28 character launch roster

Then zero was confirmed and the zip leak got people hopeful for a better launch roster then we had anticipated

And now people seem even angrier at the 30 character launch roster we seem to be getting

The roster would be embarrasing coming off umvc3 even if all the dlc chars were in day 1, but this has been one of the most insane emotional roller coasters I've seen for a game that's not even been known for a year.

Same here. Didn't matter if I completed it in the actual Arcade or on Console. Something about putting your initials just always felt cool. Outside of Arcade ports of classic games, I can't think of any newer game that's had it. Maybe Tatsunoko Vs Capcom had it back when it came out, but I'm not sure.

I'm not gonna call the devs lazy as Capcom has some talented people hamstrung by management but... As a consumer its not my job to care about devs. How much do these devs care about the product they're selling to us for $60?

Thats what this is: a $60 product which pales in both value and quality compared to other $60 products on the market.
 
It disappointed me that Origins did not have a results screen, that I could find. I could add my name and things but not see the results screen with the names and points

we have 29 confirmed with 14 Marvel and 15 Capcom characters announced.

looking at the Zip leak, one can deduct that Ghost Rider is the missing Marvel character because he was in 3 and like 85% of the roster is already done, you just need to port him and change some stuff.

If you assume that Hunter (from the zip leak) is in the base roster, you then also have to assume that another Marvel character is for parity, which would be Venom or Winter Soldier.

But since we know that the season pass will be 6 characters this year, they have to have files in the game in theory since they are all coming shortly after release (theres 3 months from the game release til the end of the year). So it's more likely that those characters are the remaining DLC, judging from the rest of the roster and the game's seemigly lack of budget.

That logic would apply to Monster Hunter just fine, but not so much Venom. As I said a few times in the past, Season 1 has currently been advertised as being comprised of all newcomers (& while Ryce couldn't find any newcomer mentions in the Japanese listing, the same apparently applies to SFV's Season 2). Unless Venom's in Season 2, it'd be weird for him to be a DLC character when all of S1 is supposed to be newbies. And if Venom is in Season 2, why is he in the story files already? And in the case of Monster Hunter, the franchise isn't as big here as it is in Japan (where MvC isn't that big of a franchise).

I'm not saying that Venom is definitively in the base roster, I'm just saying that we should wait a bit before going into Doomsday Mode.

and I've said a few times that you are being way too literal with that trailer message. Maybe they mean new compared to 3, it never says "new to the franchise never in a versus game before". You said it yourself, the japanese trailer doesnt have the same phrasing.

Or Venom is so different from his MvC2 version that it might aswell be a new character, I dont know. What I do know is that we have what, 4 new characters in the whole roster with no new ones announced in ages? We have characters that CLEARLY should have been in the main roster and are DLC (Sigma). I'm sorry for not being optimistic that all of a sudden we will get announcements for new characters.

But hey, let's say youre right, and Venom doesnt "count" for dlc because he was a sprite in 2, so Venom is in, so now Marvel is ahead by 1 character (assuming Rider is also in from the zip), so now you need another Capcom character. The only Capcom characters in the zip are all new, so what you are saying is, we went through months of fuck all announcements, the very few we had were mostly old guys killing all the hype in the game, the comic covers dont show anyone else, but at Gamescon they will announce (and by announce I mean officially show):

Firebrand
Dormammu
Ghost Rider
Jedah
Venom
New Capcom character, let's assume Hunter.

They killed the game's public perception for months, including pulling Jedah put of their asses ahead of time apparently at Evo in a desperate atempt to show something, only to save all the new reveals for 2 weeks before the game comes out?

I'm only being logical here dude. And it's not Doomsday...well maybe for some it is. I dont give a fuck if Venom is in the main roster or not, im buying the game either way, this wont make or break anything, i'm just telling you what I think will happen roster wise. I'm not saying this to go "LOL GAME IS DED", its just I firmly believe when looking at all the "evidence" we've had, that a 30 character roster with Ghost Rider as the last spot is the most logical conclusion. To me :)

edit: oh and by the way, suffice to say, obviously I hope I am compeltely wrong lol

Or could that possibly be the Mad Gear hideout from SFXT/USF4 which could be merged with Kingpin/The Hand/whatever Defenders/street level area

I think the frank/spidey level is that NY streets level shown that has the aimbrella building in the back.

Which is sorta fitting, since it gives Frank a Zombie source.

Well, I thought that stage was New Metro City and was NY mixed with Final Fight, not Dead Rising. But now that I think about it, it also appears to be the home of AIMBRELLA so there might be tons of crossovers in New Metro
 
putting down my roster thoughts in writing has bummed me out btw lol :/

can we fast forward time 4-6 months to when the game has been out for awhile, the 6 dlc character have filled out the roster more, and discussion is mainly about the game and its tournaments and not all this depressing pre-release anti-hype?

Also, it's not like Capcom doesn't already treat Metro City and NY like the same thing, given Abigail's stage in SFV.
 
If Final Fight were to get 2 stages....maybe CFAS Death isn't out of the realm of possibility as an NPC...


But I'm thinking Williamette would make more sense.


EDIT: Yeah, Abigails stage with the Statue of Liberty took me by surprise

I've already came to terms with a lot of shit and am at peace with all the crap that is MVCI. I'm buying this game either way. One character or two not being in isnt enough to make me not want to buy the game. If you guys have heard me say before, my whole team isnt in the game, still... I'm buying it. Because I'm a MVC fan and will support the series.

Apparently this isn't the first time a Marvel-related game was lacking in women. In Disney Infinity, there were only 2 women (Black Widow & Gamora) out of the 28 playable Marvel characters (the likes of Captain Marvel & White Tiger were assist characters). Spider-Gwen would have been the third if the game didn't get cancelled.

All of us are MVC fans, it's okay to be dissapointed, you don't need to feel forced to buy the product just to support the series

With every small step taken forward, two big ones are taken back. Venom was personally the straw that broke this camel's back.

Like i said earlier, the only reason I'm committing myself to this game at launch is because I got it for $30.

Also true. But weren't they focused mostly on their TV shows/movies? They did skipped over White Tiger but what about others? Was that Hulk show with She-Hulk airing at the time?

Going by the MCU alone, they have a decent array of women. That number is further increased when you factor in the cartoons.

Checking the Wikipedia page, at the time the game was released, I guess Peggy Carter and Nebula? USM was the only cartoon they focused on so yeah it's weird they chose Venom, Nick Fury and Nova while skipping White Tiger.

Looking at my original comment, you're right that Marvel can do good without the restricted characters. Too bad that by focusing on the MCU they kinda limit themselves when it comes to female characters. I would love to see She-Hulk, Songbird, Hellcat, Jessica Jones, etc. featured more.
