But how many of the male characters could you justifiably drop in favor of one of these characters? The simple fact is that most of Marvel's best characters are male and that's why the roster is the way it is.
I'd drop Nova, Venom, Thor and Hawkeye.
Hawkeye can easily be replaced by Hawkeye, Thor can easily be replaced by Thor, Venom is trash he can go to hell replace him with Quake or Ms Marvel or something, Nova is boring just replace him with She Hulk.
There, I just fixed Marvel-side roster.
Swapping Thor Odinson for Lady Thor or Clint Barton for Kate Bishop would piss off more people than it would please.

Nova is perhaps iffy, Venom isn't even confirmed to be in, but Thor and Hawkeye are core characters and Avengers so there's no justification for doing anything other than giving them female alts. I think you could sell dropping Dorm for She Hulk more easily.

I know next to nothing about the comics either, and I want She-Hulk, Hela, Valkyrie and Ms. Marvel. And not at the expense at other characters from previous games, JUST ADD THEM ON TOP.

Thinking about it, I wonder if She-Hulk was cut because she's green, and they thought that people would confuse her with Gamora.
Anyways, I still say an issue with most of the MCU female characters is that they're abilities aren't that interesting for a hyper fighter I think. If I could add two Marvel (Non-Fox related) characters, I guess I would go with with Ms. Marvel and Songbird, or maybe Hela and Songbird, though we already do have a good deal of demonic characters in the case of Hela.

This is a fantasy scenario where Marvel isnt hell bent on pushing the MCU and nothing else, where the game doesnt have a roster of 30 fucking characters.
Im pretty sure when people say "the game should have more females" it is also implied that "the game should have more than 30 characters"

My impression is that people aren't satisfied with only four women in the game no matter the roster size. So that means they're expecting some of the included male characters should've been excluded in favor of female characters. Everyone wants a bigger roster ideally.

Replacing Hawkeye and Thor would NOT be the way to go and would just infuriate/alienate more people. Venom is the only thing keeping some people interested in this and was massively requested for 3.

I don't think the people making MvC are the ones doing much thinking about color and gender. My guess is they're just trying to include characters who are interesting.

Well, my point was that they could have afforded not including Gamora at all over someone else, moreso than others (like Thor). Though I like the choice after seeing her and she does make sense with Thanos being involved.

in Infinite you mean? He was shown in the very first trailer when the collective internet groaned at the DLC mention lol. Hell, it was where the whole new characters in dlc narrative came from.

not including Gamora makes no sense too me. She's one of the few Marvel women the masses are familiar with plus she actually looks pretty good. Granted, wish her hair was a tad bit longer
poor Capcom. Guilty Gear releases with way less then that and the fans love them. McVI announces less then 30 and they get slammed. Makes no sense too me I am not going to every master 30 chaarcters. I've got 100s of hrs into Injustice 2 and am only half decent with 4-5 tops.

I would rather to add more characters top of existing roster, because cutting characters for other characters doesn't make any damn sense to me.

Guilty gear was all new assets and looked amazing. There is also different expectations when it comes to all star games when it comes to roster size especially when it's lower than the previous entry.

Use any amount of thinking before posting something like this, please.
1) MvCi is almost entirely reused assets.
2) GG Xrd is 100% new assets.
3) MvCi looks like it was made by first year undergrads.
4) GG Xrd brought took anime visuals to an entirely new tier of excellence.
In no way is this a "poor Capcom" situation. It's an incredible failure that people will reference for the entire next generation of gaming, just like SFxT now.

The silhouettes for the DLC characters in SFV in particular have either been weirdly cropped so you can't tell, also with new costumes(Season 1) or just entirely new characters so you have no reliable way of knowing who 's who.
That's not the case with this game where they're most definitely not gonna give the characters "new" costumes and they also will be more recognizable unless you crop the images heavily.
Plus unlike SFV, you're getting them ove the course of half a year instead of almost a full year.
As long as you know what happened to bruce, you should be alright. You can kinda gleam what the hell is going on in the rest of the world.
You know how its refreshing for serious characters to be kinda fun, its also refreshing for characters who are fun to be serious. ( also its still fun, so... sometimes its not as edgy as advertised )

It still would've been fun. There's no excitement or teasers for this game whatsoever.
Yeeeeah that doesn't look so good lol. I'm curious as to how they're finishing up the base roster in this case and maybe we've been looking at it wrong? Firebrand and Dorm are obviously on the base roster but what if Ghost Rider and Venom are dlc? That would be some bungled PR.
