Since the MvCI esports pitch mentioned CPT DLC like what SFV's getting, what do you guys think they'll do to justify the higher cost (besides directing 80% of the DLC revenue towards the CPT like SFV)?

nothing
it's going to be some existing alt costumes, some blue/yellow colors and a stage

I know about the blue/yellow colors & a stage, but they also come with unique costumes. On top of an alt made by whoever wins Capcom Cup, having costumes with unique voices would be a cool way to have other alts within the pack (similar to the formal costumes in SFV).

Lady Thor is like a foot shorter than Thor and three times as narrow as him. Thor's MvC model is massive.
So you're saying that like Miles, Lady Thor has the potential to be her own character.

I just had a beautiful thought about reps for each RE. Jill for RE1 in the MVC2 style, Leon for RE2, Nemesis for RE3, Ada Wong for RE4, Chris for RE5, Wesker for RE6, Jack Baker for RE7.

I know it'll never happen, but the idea gave me the feels.

EDIT: Whoops, I've been corrected, Wesker wasn't in RE6.

Honestly we just need a full on RE fighting game. The cast is so big now it'd totally work.

Give me the Sheva/Ada team up i so desire

Why would Wesker be for RE6? Was he even in that game?

spider-gwen should be a separate character

She barely does anything differently than Peter. She should be a color/costume for a possible Jessica Drew if anything

Since the MvCI esports pitch mentioned CPT DLC like what SFV's getting, what do you guys think they'll do to justify the higher cost (besides directing 80% of the DLC revenue towards the CPT like SFV)? Perhaps they'll do costumes with unique voices like what Injustice 2 does with Premier Skins. For example....
  • Spider-Gwen alt for Spider-Man (swapping Robbie Daymond's voice for Laura Bailey)
  • Sam Alexander alt for Nova (swapping Benjamin Diskin's voice for Logan Miller)
  • Lady Thor alt for Thor (swapping Travis Willingham's voice for Erica Lindbeck)
I'd mention Miles Morales, but I already gave Spider-Man a Spider-Gwen alt for a potential CPT Premier Pack. Plus Miles actually has powers that Peter lacks, thus giving him potential to be his own character later down the road (like he was planned to for UMvC3). I'm also not sure about the Capcom characters. Maybe a Ken alt for Ryu (swapping Kyle Hebert's voice for Reuben Langdon), but then they may have to change the effects of Ryu's moves.

i agree with this, change up the effects for characters who would be the same just for easier inclusion for the later patch that updates move.

She doesn't really do anything that Peter doesn't already do. At least Miles has some unique powers of his own.

and what does x-23 do that's different from wolverine? isn't x-23 literally called Wolverine in the comics now?

maybe I'm giving them too much credit, but they could make a fun and different moveset out of a character that does the "same thing" as another character. again I point to Ryu and Ken in SFV.

If DLC for this game lasted like 10 years, would Ustanak and Nemesis be welcome in the same game or would only one BOW enemy per game be smarter? I guess Lisa or Alexia could also be there

Ada could also be the RE6 rep, and Wesker the RE4 one, I suppose?

X-23 has claws in her feet that change her fighting style, so she doesn't fight the same way as Wolverine does. She's more of an assassin than a beserker like Wolverine.

Plus there's at least 6 spiders that would be more interesting than Gwen

you say this, but wolverine's feet in marvel 3 were approximately 237x more deadly than laura's

Potential RE Reps for MVC. Not counting the ones that are already in.

Resident Evil: Jill
Resident Evil 2: Leon
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
Resident Evil: Code Veronica: Wesker, Alexia
Resident Evil 4: Krauser, Saddler, Dr. Salvador
Resident Evil 0: N/A
Resident Evil 5: Chris
Resident Evil 6: Ada
Resident Evil 7: Jack Baker

Potential SF Reps for MVCI:

Street Fighter: Ryu, Sagat
Street Fighter 2: Chun-Li
Street Fighter Alpha: Bison, Nash
Street Fighter 3: Gill, Urien
Street Fighter 4: Viper, Juri
Street Fighter 5: Rashid, Necalli

Not all. I just made a quick-list of ones that would seem like obvious choices.

All-Aksys!‏ @AllAksys

Greetings! As you've heard, #Jubei does indeed come out on 8/31 (barring any issues), and the balance patch is free. #Jubei will be $7.99.

off-topic but $8 for one character, oof.

Imagine if it was Capcom lol

I'd say Sakura would have a shot for the Alpha slot, since she's so popular.

I'm not sure about stuff like Gwen/Jane Foster/Sam Alexander being alts for Spidey/Thor/Nova, mostly because their body types are different. I guess Thor might work out more or less, but Gwen would look really weird with Peter's build, and especially Sam with Rich's.

I do wonder why Chris Redfield has been stuck as the main RE represent in this series. Later we got Nemesis (which was an amazing addition, like Super Skrull was, at least to me), Wesker, and Jill Valentine before them.

But being Leon Kennedy so highly popular and recognizable, one has to ask; why he hasn't been in this series, yet. Jack Krauser would also been a really great addition too!

Also more Rival Schools characters and Power Stone would had been perfect. Even getting Kyosuke (from Capcom .vs SNK 2) would had been enough for me.

They could get away with Gwen as a Peter alt, they're both pretty slender. Plus Richard did have a Sam alt in UMvC3.

How do you not have Claire?

People call Capcom out for $6 characters.

I do wonder why Chris Redfield has been stuck as the main RE represent in this series.
He's the star of both the original Resident Evil and the best-selling Resident Evil (5, which also happens to be Capcom's best-selling game of all time), and he has more spinoff appearances than anybody else. He's the obvious choice for an RE hero in this type of game.

Despite Leon being more popular since he has been attached to the better games mostly.

Chris has for whatever reason been shifted into the main role of character for the series. I think this is in part due to him appearing in the first game, being tied to the highest selling RE title, and the love he has in the gay community.

Ok the last might be a stretch. But that's my usual go to. Chris I think at this point has the most game appearances as well.

They could get away with Gwen as a Peter alt, they're both pretty slender. Plus Richard did have a Sam alt in UMvC3.

He had a Sam costume, but he wasn't Sam. Sam's a kid, and much smaller.

I still don't know about Gwen being Pete though. Pete's model in MvC always seemed to have exaggerated arms and legs that I think would look awkward on Gwen. That's why I think Jane Thor could possibly work despite not being as muscly, since regular Thor isn't as odd looking as Spider-Man.

Because he is the main protagonist of RE.

It's as simple as that.

Well max was saying on a stream that Leon would have been in TvC but Frank made it over him because capcom Japan thinks Americans love frank.

I've separately read that Leon was considered for TvC and that Dead Rising's Western popularity was a consideration for Frank's inclusion, but never that Leon lost out to Frank.

I have a question.

Why has Capcom never put the amount of work into the cast of MvC3/UMvC3 alternate costumes like they have SFIV and SFV?

And please, unless it's the truth beyond reproach, don't say: "#lolmarvelIPpreventiondummy" or anything of the sort. Please

They lost the license pretty soon after UMVC3 was originally released.

MKX was 5 dollars each. INJ2 came out in a post SFV world so figure it out.

Also given the gear system, the sheer amount of dialogue and the considerably larger variety of shaders, it means that there's also a lot more work put into a character as compared to MKX.

Also if you buy the Ultimate edition/Ultimate pack then it comes out to 4.4$ per character which is still a good deal for people who are going to buy all the characters anyway and it includes 3 premium skins which all have their own unique dialogue as well as 2 shaders for the entire cast.

By comparison, the character passes will be 6 characters and 6 premium costumes for 30$. Not a bad price IMO considering the effort that'll definitely go into creating absolutely new characters, but charging the same amount for characters returning from MvC3 using recycled assets? Now that's gonna be some bullshit.

ASW has always been fucking mental when it comes to character pricing.
Still only slightly better than 40$ for 1(ONE) character and a patch.

Thank you. So it stands to reason then since the license is now acquired back that we can AT LEAST expect that amount of detail/effort in alternative costumes for this game...provided "the game is supported", no?

yes, we will be nickel and dimed with a ton of DLC if SF5 is anything to go by

Shaders that I have to rely on RNG to get or spend ~2.50 ea. per color for every character.

The dialogue is dope though, for sure. Just saying...it's pretty weak that everybody doesn't get access to characters at the same time.

Yeah it's bullshit that the gear and shaders are RNG, but they're still manually MADE for each character, and with more free gear and shaders on the way. Not gonna defend the timed exclusivity, that is indeed shitty.

Again, not saying that the RNG element doesn't sting but it doesn't take anyway from the potential value of the overall product that you get from paying for it. 100$ for the base game + Ultimate Pack is a damn good piece of value IMO, can't say the same even for the 90$ Deluxe Version of MvC:I.

I agree...mostly just commenting on what other companies get away with. :P

Honestly, I'd rather a way to just pay for the things I want, but consumers have had their say and lootboxes are the future.

Does anyone else wish the "REAL... MEGA BUSTER" came back?

*Puts hand up* Would also like to see OMIGOSH come back.

Dumb soundbytes are always fun. DRONE and Gammy's LINE EM UP/TAKE A RIDE are early faves.

Make the stone quotes dumber please. Ryu's POWERRRRRRRRRRR STOOOOOOOOOOONE is good tho, more of that

I actually really like the Carol and Gamora picks overall for the cast. Both look like a ton of fun with slick movesets

I hope they reduce premium costumes prices but I know they won't :(

It really fucking sucks man. SFV has the (legitimate IMO) excuse of characters and stages being obtainable without paying a dime so the costumes are the most reliable way of income through DLC, but that's not even the case for this game.
Didn't stop Tekken 7 with its bizarre mish mash of languages that everyone understands but doesn't speak.

It just dawned on me that now I want a Cinematic Story Mode for the next KOF as long as each character speaks in their native tongue. Japan Team would speak Japanese, the Brazilian team would speak Portuguese, and Terry would have full conversations screaming "OH KAY" and "GO BANG" that the other characters understand like he's Groot.
Also I don't think I have the vocabulary necessary to convey in written form just how fucking awesome this would be.

this Chris G salt tho

good times.

edit: Iron Fist's absence from the roster (well, one assumes at this point) is probably the most baffling thing in this whole mess in my opinion, given what we know.

He's not a Fox character, in fact, he is a MCU character (like its not a She Hulk or Taskmaster comic only situation), he has a tv show, he's on another tv show, The Defenders, that launches very close to the game, and he has another season of his show coming... like, what? No really... what?
