Thormammu

Why do the best team names involve Dormammu? :(

Even in SFV.

that black and red Gamora and black and red Chun combo... for Justin ;_;

oooh 2 weeks off work officially starts now boys.

The sad part is that even if the game gets good reviews, most will write it off as Marvel paying off critics. Some on GameFAQs are already preparing for this, saying to only look at user reviews.

Infinite has already turned into a meme. The narrative is that the game is garbage and that FighterZ is going to come in and steal its lunch money. For most of these people that believe this the release of the game is a formality since in their minds it's already a failure. The idea of the game having extremely sketchy presentation but having super fun gameplay and being really exiting to watch completely fucks up their narrative so the fact that the game is getting extremely massive praise from the early players for the gameplay can't actually be because the game is as good as they're claiming it to be. So they pass those reactions off as either coming from Capcom fanboys or people that are financially incentivized to say that it's good. Don't want pesky reality potentially getting in the way of a perfectly good meme.

Frankly this kind of crap is pretty disgusting to me and it's becoming increasingly prevalent in gaming. I remember back when No Man's Sky was first being shown off people were memeing about how Hello Games was making the whole triple A industry look bad because they were going to accomplish so much more then them in terms of scope with a small team of people. Fast forward to now and the game is infamous for how it failed to deliver on stuff that the community head promised. (Even though I feel like anyone with a cursory knowledge of how game development works and how hard it is to make them could have seen that coming from a mile away) Rainbow 6 Siege got memed quite a bit too for being shit because it didn't have a single-player campaign and aside from a very rocky launch with a collection of technical issues the game has been extremely well-received and has a bigger community now I believe then it ever has. I can see Infinite following an extremely similar trajectory as Siege. A couple years down the line people's issues with the roster will for the most part be solved assuming the second batch of fighters they have planned are as good as the first season, especially if Disney can get the rights of the Xmen/Fantastic 4 like they're apparently trying to. Also with any luck Capcom will have updated the game's UI and everything won't look so cheap. The people that are going to be dedicating shitloads of time learning this game all like it so far and are going to likely be sticking with it. And SFV has shown that the competitive scene can still thrive even if the game ends up flopping so even if the memes have a massive impact on game sales it isn't going to kill off the scene. A lot of the big problems with MVCI are things that are inevitably going to get fixed in time but by the time that they are fixed the meme will be dead and people will have moved on to something else.

Meme culture has polarized people's views on crap because it's harder to meme about "the gameplay is really cool but everything else is pretty subpar" then it is to just pretend that the whole game is terrible. Ironically despite these people hating on shilling, fanboys, and the corporate hype machine this sort of polarized view on game quality creates an environment where this kind of stuff thrives. (As evidence by the hype behind No Man's Sky, Watch Dogs 1, and Evolve despite there being a lot of red flags)

It gets even more silly considering these are probably the same people who defended KoFXIV when, let's be real, that game looked ugly as fuck at launch.

They're also the same people that dismiss Smash as a party game and talk about how SFV is shit because they made it appeal to casuals while hyping up DBFZ (A game that is very much a streamlined fighting game that is trying to appeal to casual players, especially if you compare it to how intense Arc System Works games usually are in terms of mechanics) as the next big thing.

The game is super fun so far. Been toying with Thor/Dante, Thor/Dorm, Thor/Thanos, and Thor/Strange. Thor/Dante seems best so far for Thor.

I've also been enjoying nearly every character I play. I think the only ones I'm not feeling so far are Hulk and Spencer.

I wonder what Red and Silver/Grey Spider-man is

Looks a bit like

But that can't be right, right?

Probably something simple I'm just not remembering at the moment.

Side note: We need Spider-man Noir as a DLC costume

Looks like The Spider from Millar's Ultimates.

A...strange and pointless character with zero links to the actual Spider-Man.

Oh wrong color...red and silver...no idea.

Got off my lazy bum and took a look around local shops to see if any had the game early.
Didn't have to look for long as the first place I visited had it for only $50!

What about Firebrand?

Got my email/refund from CDKeys.

As much as i want to play this game, I have no fucking time for it right now. I'm unfortunately forced to skip it for the time being, which pisses me off, but I'd rather do that than buy it and never be able to play it or playing it instead of studying/doing work I'm required to do and only compounding my issues. Besides, by the time I actually can find time to play it, the price will probably be way lower and I'll find a great DE bundle for less than $60.

I'll still be lurking here until my schedule manages to prohibit that, too, however.

If you have a PS4 it'll be a redbox

The persecution complex from Marvel fans is ridiculous. Can you think of any prominent KOF players which did that? Maybe there were some but I definitely can't. Where as I distinctly remember FChamp shitting all over KOF XIV..

Persecution complex? Bruh I was one of the first people laughing at how bad the game looked during it's early showings. Enough time has passed to where I can accept the game is very basic looking with almost no style, but I'm not gonna use that to jump to conclusion that the entire game is awful. I think everyone can agree this game in some areas is visually not good.
