The Guardians of the Galaxy are back! Following their surprise success in the 2014 movie, the Galaxies mightiest heroes return to another movie.
The Guardians of the Galaxy were created in 1969 by Arnold Drake and Gene Colan. The team was very different back then. The story was set in the 31st Century of an alternate Marvel Universe (Earth 691) and followed the adventures of Yondu Udonta, Captain Charlie-27, Martinex T’Naga, Starhawk and other Cosmic-Based Marvel Characters. The Book was relaunched in 2008 in Dan Abnetts and Andy Lannings new Guardians of the Galaxy book, where the heroes we all know from the first movie – in addition to characters like Adam Warlock, Phyla-Vell, Cosmo or Mantis - formed after a couple of Galaxy shaking invasions and incidents a team to proactive protect the Galaxy. James Gunn is a big fan of this book and his movies are very inspired by this run.

Also and most important: The Cosmic Marvel Timeline It full of fun books, that are mostly unreleated to the superhero stuff that happens on Earth. So dont expect Captain America or the Hulk to show up.
And: Despite Peter wearing the famous red coat from the movies, you really dont want to read the Bendis Book. Its by far not as good as the series from Abnett & Lanning.

Star-Lord is probably the one with the most perfect costume in the MCU, if we ignore Iron-Man, Black Panther and Captain America.

Could be confused with the release date change for Star Wars Episode VIII, which was supposed to release the same month as GOTG 2.
