Then yea punisher makes the most sense for next year and D3 for phase 2

are you counting JJ S2 or defenders as your thirtd next year, assuming Punisher is next year?

Best character of DD S2 getting his own show seemed inevitable.

Seriously, the Punisher/Bernthal elevated the series every time he appeared, cleansing the show of the shit ninja appearances.

Come on, Netflix, there's only one last dream that you need to make come true:

Come on . . .

I have little knowledge of Punisher outside of DD, is he based in NY in the comics/other incarnations? I got the impression he was all over the place.

Glad to see the very best thing of DD season 2 (and that's not even close) getting his spin-off.

Bernthal was incredibly on point and saved Daredevil from mediocrity.

Are they actually doing 3 shows in 2017.

Sure, why not? We know for sure that Iron Fist and Defenders will be 2017, because they're shooting the former now and the latter later this year. That pretty much rules out Daredevil S3, Jessica Jones S2, or Luke Cage S2 for 2017 since they'll probably still be shooting Defenders in early 2017. Punisher is disconnected from all that cast-wise, so they can shoot that this year as well, for a 2017 release.

Should be just Strike Back style with two/three episodes for one plot and then an overarching season plot on the background, and they can lift the episode stuff straight from Ennis' MAX

Beautiful news. The Punisher was too good to just be a Daredevil side character.

Since he is not in The Defenders (afaik), I hope he is a little more separate from their street world. By that I mean I don't want him to be limited to Hell's Kitchen. If he is not in The Defenders, I want that fact to be taken advantage of,to do things that are not possible in Daredevil and Jessica Jones. I haven't read the comics so idk what's in there but I like to imagine a Punisher series having him do stuff like taking on the Mexican drug cartels or Italian mafia and completely annihilating them. Or maybe even fighting in an actual war as a one man army.

Too many boring ninja fights. Practically anything dealing with the Hand in the later episodes was just uninteresting.
I don't think the ninjas were the problem. The whole Hand thing was just complicated and uninteresting. The issue was with the way it was written. We had the [Daredevil season 2 spoilers:]
Hand thing, drama with Elektra and the poorly treated and under appreciated Stick, Karen investigating something with the Punisher, etc. There was a ton of stuff going on but none of it felt well connected and the major plotline (The Hand) felt flat.
Even Arrow's ninjas were more interesting in its first half of season 3.

I don't really consider a character with his own comic line a spin-off, but this was expected. I knew there would be no way he'd come out without a show.

But now I wonder about the state of these Marvel Netflix shows. That's a lot of shows so far. Are any of them other than Daredevil going to get a second season?

Great news, he was the best character in season 2. Loved his outburst in the court room
'THE BIG BAD PUNISHER, WELL HERE I AM'.
. Marvel / Netflix giving us what we want!

That prison brawl was better than every ninja shit in the series. My ranking of fights:

1) Punisher prison brawl
2) Daredevil stairwell fight with Biker gang
3) Daredevil hallway fight with Russian gang
4) Ninja shit

I think DD S2 is mediocre at best and some of those Punisher scenes which are considered the best by some fans (graveyard scene for example) were seriously terrible to me.

Don't know if I'd like a show on the Punisher but will at least give it a try. The actor did a good job nevertheless. First and foremost I'm hoping that DD S3 will return back to what I loved about S1. Which were actually great protagonists and antagonists, fight choreographies and a good mixture of hero and lawyer stuff.

I think Jessica Jones has already been greenlit for a second, and if they do well then there's probably no reason Luke Cage and Iron Fist can't do the same.

I mostly hope Netflix don't stop making them once they've done The Defenders.

That was one of the biggest problems of season 2, the disjointed plot made the show overly cluttered and made some storylines feel unimportant.

That Prison Brawl was definitely a season highlight.

If that's the case, then this is definitely a 2017 series. Rumors was 2018 I believe.

You should edit the title as a production thread, or someone can make another.

That's soon. So next year is Iron Fist -> Punisher -> Defenders?
That's what it's looking like. Rumors are Iron Fist is in spring, I'll assume Defenders is summer, and Punisher is Fall. October Novemberish. I personally don't see Punisher coming out before Defenders kinda like Ant-Man and Avengers: AoU.

Fantastic news. I do not think anyone expected them to get started this soon which is why so many people were thinking a Shield appearance when it was reported he could not make that convention.

Disagree. I think Punisher would be the summer show and Defenders the fall one. Punisher starting now seems like it is probably to get Frank in Defenders also.

So uh, fifth member of the Defenders maybe, please?

I think JJ S2 is before DD S3, they'll be the 2018 series.
I doubt Punisher will be a cameo if anything in Defenders. Defenders is scheduled to start filming later this year according to Charlie Cox.

They could be filming it now simultaneously with Punisher which wouldn't be off as Kristen Ritter said they'll be filming JJ season 2 immediately after Defenders wraps up filming.
