Until the next big event,
Seriously i hope we just have X-men be X-men and chill with the extinction events.
The big things about this relaunch is that it's doing away with extinction events in favor of more classic style stories of the X-Men being heroes in a world that fears them.
Changed between the last issues of DoX and the start of IvX. Hell, the "terrible things" Cyclops did is still referred to even when everyone knows Emma did Cyclops DoX stuff.
They didn't know and the book + interviews explained that it was the Inhumans and the media that had everyone see Cyclops that way. I agree about rewrites though.
Bendis
made Angela's girlfriend Sera "disappear", AKA she's probably gone and will never be heard of again.
Bendis said that the story continues, but he can't talk about it because it's another writer's work.
Why is Greg Land still around?

And is Jubilee still a vampire?

Greg Land gets his work done on time and he has experience working with the writer. Jubilee is still a vampire.

They keep making the same mistake, i like X-Men but i don't want to follow 8 different comics just to keep up with them.

They previously cut back on the X-books, but comic fans started complaining and accused Marvel of trying to kill the brand.

Ha, that Astonishing line up is 90's as fuck. And by that I mean like a 90's wrestling team trying to regroup 30 years later.

To be fair the actual content was poor, they made weird story lore/story choices and they created a mutant replacements who were better and had no baggage.

High quality books with only 3 different series would be best,X-men already has a massive linage which scares off new fans. It also makes it harder for old fans to reengage.

Having a shit ton of books makes it even harder to follow especially when you know half the books are going to die before the end of the year and they start doing cross overs.

Marvel sure is pushing a franchise they've been trying to kill...

Yeah, I'm honestly pretty sick of seeing the completely absurd rumors that they've been trying to bury this property because Fox has movie rights. There's nothing at all that indicates that.

That said, hot damn did that trailer do it's job

I'm on board this but feel a bit blah since we just had a reboot a year ago and we're possibly getting another one in fall if rumors are true.

And Jean, Xavier, and Logan are still dead.

To be fair, shouldn't you really only be following the books that you have an interest in and trust the creative team. Not just the whole line.

That doesn't make any of it better.

The main books are Astonishing, Blue, and Gold. And if that's too much Astonishing is looking to be the X-book that will at least deliver good stories.

I kinda agree with you, but I think the X-Men franchise has too many popular characters for only three titles. The number of titles here isn't as bad as it was a few years ago though.

I think it's about time we got the real Wolverine back
Rumor has it that he will be returning soon.

X-Men was at it's best when it was one book.

I like OML and Laura so I hope he stays a statue for awhile longer. I also wished Spider-Man stayed Superior for longer too but whatever. Comics need to give major changes wider berths to develop organically and cause better shifts in the status quo.

Comic book fans only like the illusion of change so you're never going to see stuff like that.

Didn't I just correct you regarding Wolverine's adamantium claws and Mr. Fantastic's skin? Don't dismiss me for simply being a Jean fan, as if that's all I know or care about in comics.

And fuck Hope the Phoenix Intern...she and Quentin Quire both should be relegated to fetching coffee and jotting down notes for Jean and Rachel in Jean's upcoming book.

Chill chill it's just a joke. It seems like 90% of the time you pop up in these threads, it's a Jean shill, so I made a joke about you actually being Jean, which was far too good to ignore. The image of her going onto message boards to shill herself is amazing.

I would be interested in the Jean solo if it didn't have to do with the Phoenix, but it only proves that people don't know what to do with Jean if it isn't Phoenix or Scott related. Like Warren and Archangel. They could do something different, but why bother? Bendis tried to do something different with Jean by having her say "Fuck Phoenix" and then develop a new power set, but they did away with that shit real quick. She had the Phoenix back halfway through Lemire's Extraordinary.

It's honestly a shame.

WIth the Jean book I just see the Phoenix as the endgame, and the journey that will have her traveling around sounds interesting to me. You've read more X-Men then me so we probably have different perspectives though.

There's 3 teams Gold, Blue, Astonishing, the overlap between the two I dunno, I imagine Gold and Blue might have a little and Astonishing won't but I'm just guessing here

Everything else is solo books and off shoot teams. Weapon X will probably be it's own thing, and Generation X should just be teen mutants.

It's not that many...

The problem that I have with that is that it makes it seem like, to me, she's just surrendering herself to the Phoenix. Like "Oh I guess I have to do this." What Bendis did by making her rebel against that and develop a whole new power was so cool (though I'll admit that I'm a huge sucker for the whole "GOT A BRAND NEW POWER!" thing). Traveling around and learning from others is neat as a journey to that, and I will give you that it does seem like an interesting angle, but I honestly can't get excited for Jean. This journey that Young Jean is taking feels like what should have been Hope's storyline, and I'll admit that it also plays a small factor as to why I'm so tepid to this. I'm not against it, just lukewarm on all counts (which pretty much sum up my feelings on Jean as a whole).

The Astonishing group is a cast of characters rather than an X-Men team.

Fair enough.

It's not just Jean, though. I'm lukewarm on Iceman and Cable as well. Cable's cool and all, but I honestly don't care about Bobby outside of him being the voice of levity on a team.

The Iceman book is supposed to explore his potential as an omega level mutant and he has been getting ignored a lot lately, so I think it will be cool for him to get a trade that focuses just on him. I'm not picking it or Cable up as singles though.

Ahh so then there's just the two teams then and Generation X?

With solos and WEapon X and Astonishing X-Men just doing their own thing somewhere over there?

Perfect...

Basically it's the 80s: X-Men, X-Factor (X-Factor being literally the original X-men) New Mutants

And 90s: X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, Generation X

Back to basics!

He was just in Lemire's Extraordinary and the younger version was in Hopeless' All-New.

Can't be THAT ignored.

Weapon X is basically 90s X-Force in everything but name. The books will start to differentiate themselves as more members join though.

"Comic deaths are stupid, they bring them back like a year later anyway!"

This new trend where they kill a character but immediately just bring in an "alternate reality" version because they can't stand to not publish the character for a year is one of the dumbest things I've seen come out of Marvel and DC.

They are taking Lemire off of Old Man Logan? That sucks, he's been doing good work on that.

X-Men Gold is something to try. Finally, the weird looks for Colossus and Nightcrawler are done. Astonishing and Old Man Logan is something to keep an eye on as well.
