My niece's school had leaving parties for the year 6s today - looks like they are closing for 6 months then. Unreal. (UK)

Tried 5 shops to get a loaf of bread today. Finally found one, sitting pretty on the shelf. Got to the counter to pay and turned it around and there was a massive hole in the paper on the other side. No wonder no fucker wanted it. It feels like you are winning a competition every time you find milk in stores now. Never thought I would live to see the day.

How is Germany keeping the deaths down? Are they super healthy? More false positives?

I dont know maybe we gotta ask why are the deaths in Italy so high.

Even other countries are not as high as Italy if you look at where Italy was case level/death level.

exponential growth can be there, but a place like Spain has about half the cases but 1/3rd of the deaths. Its still bad but unless it grows at insane exponential rate they will still be behind Italy. Italy already had 1200 deaths when it was at 17000 cases, thats 400 more than Spain has now, 50% more.

When Italy had 10K cases it had 630 deaths, compared to the US 161. Thats like 4 times at the same case point.

(of course case numbers are all BS anyways since its only based on how many test you do).

High number of tests.
Less old people affected.
Different social cultural behavior.

Italy is pretty much on the same track as China. Before somebody starts questioning this, just check the charts of China and Italy and compare them day by day. It will get better.

What are Italy’s lockdown policies? Are people allowed out of their homes?

If not, I don’t see how so many new cases keep happening.

If no ones getting together, then how is this thing still spreading long after they put these lockdowns in place?

Incubation time. It will take 2-3 weeks until you will see a change in cases. It's expected and it's exactly what happened in China. The tests and cases published today only give you a picture of the infections 1-2+ weeks ago. Every single country has to endure this and that's why it is important to do a lockdown as soon as possible.

Didn’t Italy lockdown like a month ago though? Maybe it just feels that way, time lately has felt like it’s been slowing to a crawl.

9 March Lombardy and some other regions, 10 March rest of Italy. So about 1,5 weeks ago.

Unfortunately we have to accept that it will get worse before it gets better. That will be true for every country.

Why would you hoard the zinc if you don't have the Chloroquine (and the knowledge to use it) ? Better leave it for the health authorities.

Because the mentality with this will be:
  • Chloroquine + Zinc = good
  • I can't get Chloroquine
  • Therefore people will assume, zinc = half as good, which is better than nothing
  • Therefore, people will scramble to buy
Honestly, it's not too difficult to get chloroquine (or did not used to be) - basically goto a travel clinic, say you're going to a malaria infested location (ie. a safari in Africa) and they'll generally give you atovaquone. Say you're allergic to it, and they dispensed chloroquine.

UK coronavirus death toll rises to 137
From CNN’s Livvy Doherty in London

Another 29 people in England have died of coronavirus, bringing the total deaths in the UK to 137, the National Health Service England said in a statement Thursday.
The patients were between 47 and 96 years old and had underlying health conditions.
Six people in Scotland, two people in Wales and one person in Northern Ireland have died of coronavirus.

People saying China's #'s aren't truth because of what is going on in Italy don't have facts to back it up. If you look at China and even South Korea and see the measures they took to stop the spread and also looked at their treatment plan for those that were infected you would understand why their #'s have continued to drop. Italy isn't taking the same measures they have or followed the same treatment plan, plus their population is older which means a greater risk for the virus to spread.

My Dad is a Doctor and we were talking about this over the weekend. It's Hydroxychloroquine(500mgx2) + Zinc is what will kill the virus. That's why countries like China and S. Korea have been able to put a stranglehold on it and have fewer people dying. But if you just treat the virus with Hydroxychloroquine or Chloroquine by itself it won't really do much, you need to be taking a Zinc supplement with it. Zinc is what stops the virus from replicating. It's getting Zinc into the cells and that's where Hydroxychloroquine comes into play.

Here's a good video on it:

More? WHO knows anymore.

Didn't Italy also treat a bunch of people with ibuprofane and Advele, which now shows makes it worse?

Due to lag that could explain the higher deaths lately all those people who were given those drugs dying?

Or just old people with Heart conditions, diabetes, high blood pressure. 99% of deaths had underlying conditions.

A lot of deaths in Italy are reportedly not being counted, because many people are dying in their homes and tests are not being performed posthumously

(((TRIGGERED)))

RIP dude

We're told on March 7 he developed a cough, and the next day he coughed up blood. He flew back to LAX on March 9 ... and immediately went to the ER, where he also had a high fever.

The family says a chest x-ray confirmed Jeff had pneumonia, and he was tested for COVID-19 and sent home with fluids and antibiotics and instructed to self-quarantine until he got the results back.

We're told the results came back positive on March 13, and Jeff was provided a portable oxygen meter to keep an eye on his levels ... which took a turn for the worse that afternoon.

On March 14 he was taken by ambulance to the hospital and quickly transferred to the ICU when it was discovered his lungs were 60-70 percent blocked with pneumonia. Doctors decided the best path forward was to sedate and intubate, hoping a ventilator would help his lungs heal.

Sadly -- and despite the family claiming he was approved for antiviral meds -- he took a turn for the worse and never got the medication in time ... and passed away Thursday morning.

It appears Jeffrey was an at-risk patient. He had a history of asthma and frequent bronchitis as a child, though he outgrew that. He also had beat testicular cancer back in 2016.

The CDC now says young people can also be at grave risk ... and this underscores the danger.

He was 34.

RIP

Deaths will take a bit to catch up. Notice how SK was 0.5% or so and has been slowly crawling up to about 1% now. Probably deaths that also weren't attributed to corona. Italy levels probably won't happen unless the system collapses or something though.

there's going to be a run on zinc supplements now - better grab some while you can...
When inside the cell, Zinc will stop the virus from replicating. However, Zinc supplements on their own aren't going to do anything because Zinc won't be able to get into the cells. Zinc is an ion that can't get through the cell membrane. You need Chloroquine, a Zinc Ionophore, for that. Chloroquine opens ion gates in the cell membrane which allows Zinc to pass inside.

have u guys seen this?

most pathetic shit i've ever seen. there is more than enough for everyone if people stop acting like chickens with their heads cut off. everyone rushing to congregate during a highly infectious disease outbreak also hurts my fucking head

I dont understand it. Cosco, walmart, and HEB is just like this like this where I live, yet I can walk until a local grocery and get what I need in minutes, for a few $$$ more.

People are dumb? Rewatch Zombieland and replace zombies for corona.

I know the MOA, but ahead of this, people will likely grab zinc w/o chloroquine being prescribed. by the time someone gets chloroquine prescribed, I'm sure zinc will already be long gone off the shelf...

It's okay it's just the flu, bro.

Sigh.

Signing off for a bit.

Ya gotta think outside the box in these situations. Your average person is going to hit the Costcos, BJs, Walmarts, Targets and so on. Regional stores, mom and pop places are the way to go. Hell, I'd even hit up a dollar store and see if you could snag some essentials.
If you're low on food, hit up the asian food marts. My wife and I had no problem getting huge bags of rice, spices, and bats. 🦇

A guy I work with is like who cares about TP, if it runs out, I'll use my hand and wash it, we still have running water right?
Little too outside the box there. Think something a little saner would be hopping into the shower afterward and letting the water run down your crack. To each his own, though! He sounds like a wild man. I'd recommend not shaking his hand.

Not sure if I’m right about this but it could simply be because Italy might have a higher elderly population compared to Germany.

Thanks to recent massive testings, as we confirm more cases, now the fatality rate in NY has dropped to similar level of SK/Germany(0.5%). I am afraid unconfirmed number in CA(2.4%),WA (5.7%)and Florida(2.5%)are seriously underestimated.

What you see the death toll in Italy is the result of collapsed medical system combined with majority seniors populations. Right now wealthy states like New York and California got most of the spotlight and media coverage due to its location and economic importance . I am afraid that the situation would get worse in the mid-eastern and Bible Belt due to previous massive church gathering and limited resource (Like what happened in South Korea, like 70% of confirmed cases came from religion cluster)
