Not tested, but the NHS went through my symptoms over the phone via 111 and said I’ve probably got it. The exact term they used was ‘likely’.

If so I’ve been very lucky. I downplayed it quite a bit by saying I’ve had no fever and it hasn’t been a constant cough, but because it’s a dry cough that has lasted longer than 7 days I needed to report it.

To be honest I hope I have got it. I’m now working from home and stocked up on food for the next couple of weeks. I could get this out of the way and start helping others.

If so, be safe. Hope you have a positive recovery.

Situation in Italy: For those who want to see evidence of “flattening the curve” representing numbers of new coronavirus cases look at the figure below. Lodi was on lockdown starting February 23rd, while Bergamo did not follow suit until the national lockdown last week. Cases in Bergamo continued to rise steeply, as they did undoubtedly in other parts of the country. In Lodi, the curve flattened.

[...]

According to Yaneer Bar-Yam, founding president of the New England Complex Systems Institute, “When everyone is locked down for two weeks, if someone develops symptoms, the people with them can be isolated. No one else can become infected. So including these cases and a few random ones, it takes four to five weeks to stop the outbreak. China and South Korea showed that this actually works.”

Why does this news continue to surprise people? This is what happens in jurisdictions when the number of cases overtakes testing capability. It's pretty much been like this all over America for over a week.

Also, the news article is idiotic. They haven't given up on containing it. Anyone that has symptoms needs to self isolate for a period of time (usually 14 days). They just aren't confirming diagnoses because it won't change management.

Dylan Ratigan was saying you can buy South Korean COVID tests online.

Anyone figured out where to get these? And if so, how much are they? I'd pick up one if it's not crazy expensive.

If this man is not a charelton he is the savior of human kind

"three countries in which the situation is not controlled today" . “Italy, France and Spain are not models. The confinement in Italy, that does not prevent that there continues to be an exponential evolution. There continues to be an exponential development in France and in Spain as well. These three countries have decided to put containment in the foreground ” , he regrets. For him,"Maybe we have to accept to change our minds and start again on what Korea has done, that is to say to multiply the tests, to treat people and to isolate only positive people" . "We are in the 21st century, infectious diseases, we detect them, we isolate people who are contagious and we have to shorten the time during which they are contagious by treatments"

Concretely, the scientist tested on 24 patients a treatment called Plaquenil, one of the trade names given to chloroquine. Six days later, only 25% of those tested still carried the virus. While 90% of those who have not received treatment are still positive. “It's spectacular. The average viral load with this virus is normally 20 days. And all the people who die from coronavirus still have the virus. Not having it any more changes the prognosis, ”said the professor. For him, it is therefore essential to"Get back to simple things" . "Infectious and contagious diseases is: when there is a microbe we are contagious, if we do not have it we are not contagious, when there is a drug, we use the drug, so that people are not sick. This is medicine .

Once this is all over, do you think China will be held accountable? Or face international punishment for their initial covering up of the virus?

I imagine not. But someone at least has to bollock them at some point.

Bollock them with what? Sanctions or fines?

I heard pets are immune to this shit. They have their own corona. The world is not going to become The Last of Us. It's going to become Tokyo Jungle (or Planet of the Apes). lol

I wonder how bad it will get for them once young people realise they are going to have to spend the rest of their lives paying for the debts our governments are currently racking up in order to try and keep the old and sick alive for a few more years.

I'm scared...

Brazil is one of the biggest "market" for this virus, it won't be pretty probably.

Poland is in epidemic state since yesterday, still quite low numbers with 400+ cases and 5 deaths https://www.politico.eu/article/poland-declares-coronavirus-epidemic/

Fun thing is that so far this virus is making my life better, there are way less people on the the streets and buses and shops are less crowded, waiting for register is super fast compared to what it used to be. I'm INTP so world right now is more to my liking lol.

Remember in The Stand, there was that old homeless alcoholic guy that survived and it turned out that alcohol limited the virus.

I'm going to try this theory out GAF. For science!!!

btw I am staying at home so it's not like I'm spreading to others.

I think the worst part of yesterday is the proof that USA can easily surpass Italy numbers in the coming weeks if they test
