How are they of no use ?
Because you have to wear it perfectly for it to do anything, and nobody wears them perfectly (and I mean NOBODY). I am a safety administrator with a lot of training if you are wondering what my credentials are.

N95s are not for keeping you from getting sick, but they work pretty good to keep sick people from spreading it to others. Hospitals need them to keep the asymptomatic workers from unknowingly spreading it more.

If you want to keep from getting sick you need a full face mask with organic filters. Good luck finding them and good luck cleaning them without infecting yourself.

You are better off staying at home and washing your hands a lot.

"Getting BETTER!!!! ALMOST THERE GUYS!!!!"

waiting for the normal sources, but typically these have been spot on.

this is fucking unbelivable.
My city has now today over a 100 cases.
A week ago we had a few.
People are not giving a shit at all.
One mall had 2 stores closed cuz they both had corona cases. But all the other stores are still open. Its not like the people didnt walk from that store to another store right?
I see florida idiots on the beach partying.
They said on the news they dont give a shit.

What i am getting at is that one guy i know who is stuck in his apartment for 3 weeks now said to me they were just like us right now in the fourth week of february and look where it got them.

Stay the fuck home as much as you can and this no time to party like the young ones do.

Runny nose is generally not a symptom of Coronovirus from what I have heard.

uncommon but still possible. iirc 15% of the positive cases reported runny nose.

The press seem much more interested in tripping Trump up, than they do getting information. This is embarrasing.
lol, talk about priorities.

The reporters are not to blame if America ends as the largest clusterfuck of all countries in a few weeks, because Trump and his whole administration absolutely suck at handling this situation.

Do you guys reckon it's a risk to go for a run in the park? Got some weights for home but feel like I'm going mad without cardio.
Id say avoid the parks. I went yesterday and fuckers were having full soccer games and about 20 kids having baseball practice. People just don't give a fuck. I left and went back home. Id say run in your immediate neighborhood through the streets won't run into people nearly as much and can stay away.

Yea, I know hospitals need them bad and they don't want ppl hording them...and rightfully so, but I ain't buying that they won't do anything. Shit I'll put a bandanna over my face as opposed to nothing at all.

I'm with you on that last part, but I gotta go get groceries.

Going back to an earlier post I made in regards to the UK getting hit by Covid in December.

It's now general consensus at my work place, with my colleagues' friends and family and most communities around our workplace, that we were hit by Covid in December. Again, i have no proof and we would never be able to prove it, but three people had to seek hospital care and have respiratory checks done and placed on strong anti-biotics. Every one else I worked with, including their families, suffered coughs, strong flu symptoms (aches, pains, fatigue, fever).

Hopefully, this is true, because it isn't as bad as we think. YMMV of course, I was only off my game for two days, while others were knackered for a week.

Good article on VICE about how copper is a good anti bacterial and anti viral material, and the history behind it.

In 1852, physician Victor Burq visited a copper smelter in Paris's 3rd arrondissement, where they used heat and chemicals to extract the reddish-brown metal. It was a dirty and dangerous job. Burq found the facility to be "in poor condition," along with the housing and the hygiene of the smelters. Normally, their mortality rates were "pitiful," he observed.

Yet, the 200 employees who worked there had all been spared from cholera outbreaks that hit the city in 1832, 1849, and 1852. When Burq learned that 400 to 500 copper workers on the same street had also mysteriously dodged cholera, he concluded that something about their professions—and copper—had made them immune to the highly infectious disease.

Has that been established? I mean specifically for COVID19?

Generally speaking about coronaviruses, you can't become immune from the common cold because the common cold is caused from about 200 different strains of corona virus.

Specifically speaking, COVID19 is just one strain(as far as we know), and theoretically could be defended against.
For the coronaviruses family. The type of immune response they trigger in our body only lead to short term immunity, regarding the same exact virus, covid19 is bound to be the same.

England on lockdown as of tomorrow - pubs, restaurants, bars, cinemas, theaters, clubs etc. all closing for a while. Be interesting to see how we react to that given how stubborn we are.

Bruh, the social distancing is a joke around here. Despite seeing ads everywhere, in practice, people are huddling next to each other.

What good is wearing a mask if everyone is crowding inside a Bus shelter for example?

This shit is getting Brutal. That Italy number is a damn tragedy and is making me depressed right now. I feel like I’m the only person going to work right now. I work in dairy and my building will be the last place to shutdown. When places like mine shutdown then no one will be getting any food

Interesting Trump statement regarding stock buybacks @53:20

"When we gave them a tax cut and they took the money and did buybacks, that's not building a hangar, that's not building an aircraft, that's not them doing the things that I wanted them to do. We didn't think we would have had to restrict it because we thought they'd know better. But in some cases they didn't know better".

1. He's speaking in generalities but giving very specific examples: Hangar and aircraft. I wonder who he could be talking about . . . lol.

2. This is another example how in some cases, the primary interest of the owners is to enrich themselves, not invest in the company or its workers.

Fun times in the UK. This time last week I was getting the Central line to work which was noticeably as busy as usual - now we have been wfh for 4 days and people are already losing their minds.

I don't have enough booze in.

More deaths of people around 30-40 being reported, without any previous condition. Don't trust the "only the old folks" saying cos it looks like the fucking virus doesn't discriminate that much. Right now everyone is pretty much in danger, ranging from mild to extreme danger.

Economy is fucked up either you go to work or not so don't put your life on the line unless you have to report for duty or something like that.

The media in my country are now trying to make up for their HUGE BLAME when not even 3 weeks ago they were chanting "just like a flu, bro" They are as guilty as our fucking goverment. All of them should lost their jobs once this shit is under control and the blame game starts.

Bandanna will help actually because will probably prevent you from touching your face.

Thats the biggest protection for non hospital workers, from touching your face. Just be careful when you take it off because well you can touch your face LOL.

My province only 18 case increase. 74-94-121-139. But case numbers will probably go up with more testing. 7000K + negative tests. I like that they are sharing the number of negative tests. We freed up 4000 beds.
Yesterday calgary area had a 100. Lets see where we will end up today.

I have faith in my governments leadership so far, they seem to be doing a good job. Not sure if I can say about the rest of the provinces. Stay safe out there in Alberta.

I saw the Chart with Italy vs Canada and we are starting to fall a bit behind Italy right now. If people take this social distancing stuff seriously and report cases ASAP we can hopefully keep slowing it down.

Also testing numbers are ramping up, if your province shares test numbers look at the negative test numbers as well. With more testing numbers will increase.

Man that Italy news is really sad. I thought we were going to see a downward trend soon.

I think everyone is holding their breath watching Italy hoping each that that we have seen the peak. Every time you think it cant get worse, it seems to. Im just hoping that we arent seeing the effects of the lockdown yet and that the numbers will start to fall off soon. If we continue to see these mortality rates in a week or, god forbid, two more weeks, expect to see other countries take much more drastic measures.
