Forget about toilet paper, computer parts might be hit next with shortages.

Remember, companies/schools want people to work from home. So now Laptops are starting to run out.

I put this up there with the other stupid panic-buying. If you have a job or school that had even the remote capability to do such things before, how did you not have a computer?

I hope he was coughing at an arch to make sure he get gets the respiratory droplets to rain down. What an ass.

Well I'm waiting for a test. I woke up yesterday with a pain in the chest, have a burning sensation in the upper lungs.

I work in an hospital and 4 cases were confirmed there yesterday. I just want to know asap since if this is something else like a pneumonia i need antibiotics.

Just great...

A state-by-state guide to coronavirus lockdowns — The Wall Street Journal

NEW YORK

• Effective 8 p.m. on Sunday, all businesses that aren’t deemed essential must shut down their in-office personnel functions. Gov. Cuomo’s order exempts financial institutions, retailers, pharmacies, hospitals, news media, manufacturing plants and transportation companies, among others.
• “Non-essential gatherings” of any size and for any reason are temporarily banned.
• In public, people must keep at least six feet away from each other.
• Residents 70 and older and people with compromised immune systems or underlying illnesses must remain indoors (unless exercising outside), wear a mask in the company of others and prescreen visitors by taking their temperature.
• Casinos, gyms, theaters, shopping malls, amusement parks and bowling alleys are closed.
• Barbershops, hair salons, tattoo or piercing salons, nail salons, hair-removal services will be closed starting Saturday at 8 p.m.
• Bars and restaurants are limited to delivery and takeout.

CALIFORNIA

Gov. Newsom has ordered everyone in California to stay home except to get food, care for a relative or friend, obtain health care, or go to an “essential job.” People working in critical infrastructure sectors may continue to go to their jobs.
• People outside must keep at least 6 feet of distance from each other.
• Dine-in restaurants, bars and nightclubs, entertainment venues, gyms and fitness studios are closed.
• Gas stations, pharmacies, grocery stores, convenience stores, banks and laundry services remain open.

PENNSYLVANIA

Gov. Tom Wolf ordered “non-life-sustaining businesses” in Pennsylvania to close their physical locations as of Thursday evening. The restriction exempts sectors, like gas stations, food retailers and transportation companies. It also doesn’t apply to “virtual or telework operations.” Businesses that don’t comply could face enforcement actions starting Saturday.
• Pennsylvanian residents are strongly encouraged to refrain from nonessential travel, but it isn’t a requirement.
• Restaurants and bars must stop all dine-in services.

ILLINOIS

Gov. J.B. Pritzker commanded residents to stay at home, leaving only for essential travel and activities such as health and safety reasons, getting supplies and caring for others.
• The Illinois directive says, “non-essential business and operations must cease,” a requirement with many exceptions. Nonessential businesses can still allow employees to work remotely and process payroll and employee benefits, among other limited activities.
• Gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited with limited exceptions.
• All places of public amusement are closed to the public, such as carnivals, amusement parks and concert halls.

TEXAS

Texas. Gov. Greg Abbott’s directive instructs all Texans to avoid social gatherings in groups of more than 10 people starting Saturday morning.
• Texas residents “shall avoid eating or drinking at bars, restaurants, and food courts, or visiting gyms or massage parlors.”
• People may not visit nursing homes or long-term care facilities unless to provide critical assistance.

FLORIDA

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has ordered the closure of all restaurant dining rooms and bars in the state, as well as concert houses and other entertainment venues in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
• The city of Miami Beach directed all hotels to close down by Monday night.
• Miami-Dade County has shut down beaches, parks, bars and restaurants.

NEVADA

• Days after closing Las Vegas casinos, Gov. Steve Sisolak ordered a shutdown of “non-essential businesses,” including movie theaters, massage parlors, brothels, nightclubs, hair and nail salons and gyms.
• Retail cannabis dispensaries may operate by delivery.
• No on-site dining at restaurants.

I have developed a cough and now I am all paranoid.

My brother had a cough and it ended up being normal ass flu. We were all like "that's not news"

We actually have a pretty big flu outbreak in my region, a couple of schools were closed before this all happened because of that. It is burried pretty deep because of he bigger issue. Wonder if anyone has both at the same time?

I had the flu about 3-4 weeks ago. This is a similar feeling as when that came on. Right now my only symptoms are the cough and a headache. I've been isolating since the 13th but the wife has been going into work. Thankfully she will be work from home starting Monday. This shit sucks, but it necessary.

Not to mention container ships carrying more stopped leaving China a while ago. People wringing their hands about supply chains have a lot more to worry about electronics-wise than they do food-wise.

We are still getting a good amount of cargo through LA/LB port not sure what we are bringing in though. I think Saturday we had a huge ship from China and we are getting more within the month.

Work on the port is still as of today gathering 600+ people on the daily before work. I'm just counting the days till something bad happens. I don't fucking get it. I get cargo must be moved but they cant figure out at least something to mitigate that?

Not downplaying this but for every story about a 30 year old or 25 year old there is probably 20 storied about a 60 ot 70 year old we dont read.

Anyways we need a new meme. Its just pnemonia bro.

Seems like CCP sold us the flu bro when it really is a killer pneomonia. I have heard stories from people i know that pneomonia can be really bad and kick your ass. So i dont wish it on myself or anyone.

This is basically a killer pneomonia where you luck out and recover or you die. % depend on your age and health.

US is still in the early days, 69 cases per million with exponential growth rate.
Given the huge lag in testing and the blatant ignorance of the administration for so long, there will be a rather large lag for figuring out how effective the quarantine is.
The irony of downplaying shit comes to bite you back in that now businesses will have to suffer longer until there is a clear plan to re-open.
Stay home, stay safe, help people in need. The idiots in charge often make bad decisions but there is a lot you can still do.

Asked this in response to a Twitter thread (first make right there), but do we know if the rate of positive results vs. number of tests being performed is growing exponentially like some claim?

There's definitely an exponential growth in confirmed positives around the world, but is the infection rate (confirmed positive vs. number of tests performed) actually growing explosively?

I worry the US is going to get hit hard soon. Oregons governor is taking an incredibly soft "oh please please stay home " stance and in reality people are everywhere! Basically looks like a normal day except you can't buy toilet paper lol

I just don't know what some of you expect government to do. Do you really think mobilizing of the national guard and military to enforce a nationwide quarantine is going to go over well in America?

Good question.

I can tell you in Canada we are still reporting 99% negative tests. Only 1% positive even as testing increases. We have done something like 70k test so far.

Thats the only thing i dont get. If 96 to 99% of people test negative how can 80% of the world get it? Why wouldnt the postive rate keep increasing so now it 90% test negstive then 80% then 60% and so on and so on.

Well i am no pandemic expert so these guys must have figured something out about it.

Of course it won't go over well, but thats what may have to happen since apparently Americans are too dumb to do it on our own! Just blows my mind how stupid the general population is. I guess let darwinism do its thing..

And what makes you so smart, if you don't mind my asking? You see people all around the world moving about as normal, because honestly, the true danger of this thing hasn't been clearly conveyed and we're seeing wildly different results depending on countries. Japan's doing quite well without dramatically limiting people's freedoms. Meanwhile Italy is in lockdown and people are dying en masse.

A lot of folks are just not willing to give up their freedoms to lock themselves up in their homes for an undetermined amount of time. Many people don't even have that ability.

80% of the world hasn't gotten it yet.

But if the growth is supposed to have been exponential (as claimed in the Tweet I posted), wouldn't the infection rate necessarily have to also spike in accordance with that growth?

A long time ago I got pneumonia in my early 20s in the Army and coughed up blood, I didn't experience anything like what people are saying. Hell I didn't even get put on a respirator and I got sick on Post in the states.

I just dont get how it would spread that high if 96% test negative.

Even SK which has done the most and complete testing has 96% test come back as negative. If this thing could spread to so many people there should be a way higher % of positive test if you are just doing random testing. I mean even SK alot of testing is focused based around finding people who had contact or used the same route as someone who is infected but most everyone comes back negative.

I guess it doesnt make a difference in the end. 99% negative still leaves alot of positives.

Maybe the current methodology for testing being done is inaccurate?

I never said I was smart nor am I on lockdown. I still work and mostly living life normally. But that doesn't mean I'm taking my kids to the fucking park and having them play with 20 other kids!! There is just too many retards to even fathom.

Doubt it. Seems that most counties etc agree on the testing methods. Maybe a month or two ago there were some concerns and false postives. But for now everyone seems to agree that the testing being done is valid.

But ya it could be we find out in a few months that we needed to test for B and not A and that 70% of the negative tests were actually positive.

Japan's officials recommend that people go to parks and play. Are they retarded with their sub-50 death rate?

I think the worst part of yesterday is the proof that USA can easily surpass Italy numbers in the coming weeks if they test

Italy has like 60 million people. US has 300 million. US has more population centers where outbreaks can occur.

Which is to say, of course the US can surpass Italy's numbers, but unless you take other factors into account that is meaningless. Just because the US has more cases does not mean we have it worse by any meaningful metric.

I believe one of the main factors when it comes to the spread of Corona is that alot of people walk around with it but without symptoms of it. That is one of the reasons a total lockdown will be successful in halting the speed of spread of the virus.

And if 99% of tests come back negative, it hasn't spread yet in any huge numbers. And that is great news.
