I can judge a game based on character design images released 9 months before the game comes out.
Give me one example of a character that looks like the new one that didn't turn out to be terrible.

Ashley got a bad nose job and lip injections. Why would they mess with the original character model?

Samara/Jack/Ashley are all based off a model's face. I doubt they would change what she looks like

Ah Mass Effect 3 threads. I don't recall story based sequences being featured in ME2 pre-game coverage either. Were people losing their shit to this degree?

For ME2 the precedent was ME1. For ME3 the precedent is ME2.

Ugh after discovering that there will not be any new romance options in this game like Kasumi or Samara. The least they could do is allow me to stare at Kasumi's ass on missions damn it.

Actually that was unconfirmed by Hudson. It seems there will be new romance options.

Not great. I'll be stabbed for this but I'd rather have Miranda on the team than Ashley. Ashley just got on my nerves, she was a space redneck, Aliens taken aw dem jerbs. Miranda was aloof, detached, sort of a bitch but a more interesting character to me.

The more Bioware pull away from the 60/70's classic sci-fi influences, the worse the series becomes.

Also thought I was staring at Samara the whole time, until someone pointed out it was Liara.

They probably pegged Miranda to begin with before they realized how much Strahovski's going to cost them second time around.

I wonder if he'll refer to himself as the Vega Train and his sidequest will be to trade down memorabilia from his threshball playing days

Fcuk, I just noticed this Vega guy has a Knight on his armor??? Ashley has a bird, Kaidan, have no clue. Maybe it mean light armor and heavy armor.

I never really got the Ashley hate. To me she actually seemed more real than a lot of female characters in games. Maybe it's because so many people didn't agree with her personally, I didn't either, but part of that was because in ME1 she actually reminded me of women I've met: the assertive female jock with conservative beliefs. Even her hair fits what you usually get with female soldiers.

And those types of women can have long hair and makeup too without losing that personality. I think Ashley looks fine so far. This is probably a really bad example to use, but the quickest similarity I can think of would be Sarah Palin 20 years younger.

Maybe it's because that kind of woman is a uniquely American thing (not sure), maybe not even common all over this country. Maybe most of the people who hate on Ashley just don't like that kind of woman either.

dunno why yall hating

at least hes not a pretty boy generic motherfucker

i like that hes beefy and ugly, makes him less generic

The knight is to tell you that he's made by the dragon age team.

Is James Vega (the third Vega bro) this guy?
I believe they're different. I think that guy was exclusively for the video, if I remember correctly.

Ashley was great. She had problems with her career, cherished her family, and was committed to her faith. It's really refreshing to see a character as grounded as she was.

I don't like her for being racist, but I'm glad they put her there.

Garrus and Tali, yo.

Garrus is in, and Tali most likely is too.

Her ass will be the mission complete screen, believe.

Oh well then I guess it may not be all bad as long I get to slide it in Kasumi/Samara's butt when the time comes for it.

EDIT: @above post: If it isn't I hope somebody makes a mod for the PC version making it so.

I was referring to the hissy fit people threw when BioWare didn't announce straight away that Garrus and Tali are in ME2.

And Tali's not official yet? I wonder how BioWare's boards are taking this.

I don't mind Vega's design since I expected something like that. He looks like a guy from the GeoW universe. I'm more annoyed at the ACTION, ACTION, ACTION theme they keep using for marketing. Not a fan of the Wolverine claw and giant robots battles :(

Shepard can actually be gay in this one? That's actually quite some progress from the ME team. I was under the impression that they didn't want to go this way because of the dudebro crowd they are trying so hard to get. I guess they realized it was somewhat hypocritical to have lesbian and xenophile romances and not gay ones. Hopefully they do it well if they retcon a character. I didn't like how they retconned Anders in DAII.

I actually thought that was one of the most interesting things in the game. Her having to come to terms with these aliens on board and having hands-on time with human technology was kind of cool. Like Kaidan, I really wish this had been played up more than the sister thing, but I digress. Her family issues did at least build toward her need to be the best.

People don't like Ashley because she's a space bigot. That's what made it so fun to blow her up.

Well I'm probably going to pick it up for $10-20 six months after release exactly the same as I did with the first two, regardless of quality. All of the latest news just makes that decision easier.
I would but I might as well just get it over with as quickly as possible.

Jarmel said:
They already said Vega wasn't the British sniper guy. I would prefer the British sniper guy though.
To enough fan pressure, Bioware will make him British and a sniper.

Why do they keep showing Ashley at the same damn angle. Even in the gameplay vid where she showed up, EXACTLY THAT ANGLE. I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt for not messing up Ashley at all and just letting her hair down and stuff. Not exactly helping her case here.

I will say that I'd take Ashley over Jack or Samara in a heartbeat. I really just want Aria. Just pay Carrie Ann Moss whatever she wants, it will be worth it.

According to Wikipedia she's confirmed to be in 3, but I doubt its as a party member (or probably a DLC party member.) I bet she ends up being like the mission coordinator.

Lost in the discussion of this awful character design is that fact that his name is JAMES VEGA. What the hell.

The reasoning behind Vega is actually very good. Too bad many people aren't making the constellation connection.

And now that she's a
Spectre
I honestly expect her to become even more hard-line than before now that
she's got very few rules holding her back.
I wouldn't be surprised if her decisions became much closer to those of renegade Shepard.

Character models look much better than ME2, but what the hell was the thought process behind Vega? Seriously? SERIOUSLY?!?!?

I forgot who Miranda was for a second, then I remembered, then I remembered why I forgot in the first place.

How did I miss this... yeah he looks bad.

Powers are also back on a single cooldown. There's a weird mention though of certain exceptions that are separate from the single cooldown system though.
They were thinking of changing it? I had no idea. Well, I didn't mind the single cooldown in ME2, so I guess this is fine by me.

Lacking something better to complain about, GAFfers will pick up on really stupid shit to complain about.
Of course, that's why we're complaining about it. I'm not going to complain about good things.
I know what you meant.
