I just can't believe that someone at Bioware saw this and thought "this looks great!"
They didn't. Its been changed in the patch. Still doesn't look great, but the "noot noot" thing is much reduced.

This is so jarring and creepy. Different lighting in these two shots and the eyes resemble stickers.

Animations and eyes aside...
..I've learned a lot of people on this board don't know what women look like without makeup.
It's almost like you didn't imply that all games get downgraded in your previous post!

Some presumptuous, self-righteous high horsing going on here.
Plenty of makeup on those women. And that has nothing to do with why they look terrible.
The developer also revealed how PS4 Pros support for FP16 GCN instructions brings about 30% improvement in performance while rendering the game in checkerboard mode.
Wait, they acknowledged this and said it's being fixed in a patch? I didn't see anything like that. You have a link?
Found this when looking for additional Pro version details. I don't recall this being discussed.
FP16 showing meaningful improvements?

This thread is so fucking dumb, like Witcher 3 graphical 'downgrade' levels of dumb.
Any actual Mass Effect fans in here? Or is everyone just jumping on the shit-flinging bandwagon?
New engine and new team, they're just reusing the same animations from ME1-3 apparently. I just saw the famous cross-arms-lean-back pose by Ryder and the lean-back on left-leg-with-hanging-arms.

That animation bug you see is also replicated in ME3 if you reload between holstered and non-holstered weaponry.
Yea I just watched the romance video and surprisingly they're reusing a shit ton of animations from the original trilogy:

Really very funny this thread XD It is very strange to see this lack of finish on a game as big
I don't know if they've acknowledged it, but looking at the more recent streams of that point in the story it doesn't look so bad to me

Here's the same point as that gif, you can check if I'm hallucinating.
Jesus, why do they all look like shit. Massive shit.
The eye shading is just so wrong in ME:A, even if one were to concede they were going for "stylised graphics" (which they were not). I wonder how they got that wrong given how it is usually agreed upon the largest and greatest step to crossing the uncanny valley and looking correct.
People tend to look at people in the eyes when they talk. And in a game that has so much talking they did not even get anywhere near close to how light interacts with eyes. In fact, the eyes in MEA generally look to have the exact same type of (incorrect, mind you) shading across the entire surface. When in fact all of the many eyes sub components have very distint and important reactions to light.
The thing is, frostbite should have a tool chain and shader set up for eye shading given all their other games. Why and how did Bioware not utilise that correctly?

My point was that downgrades are normal, not necessarily guaranteed to happen every time.
Posting "b-b-b-but what about this one game that didn't have a downgrade" isn't a strong rebuttal.

I mean that's because UE4 is a powerhouse and is insanely flexible with different game types.
It's a completely different one actually.

that's pretty surprising to see actually.
This happens in a world where CDPR creates 7000 new animations just for Blood and Wine in a year.

I mean...
Damn you. I have bronchitis and it hurts to laugh. I'm about to die here. There is one plus to these character models, I am hoping to see some really funny ultra ugly model videos.

I think one of the huge differences is that Dice made extensive use of photogrammetry in both Battlefield 1 and Battlefront.
It doesn't seem Bioware is using this at all (at least from what I've read/seen).
So they are relying solely on an artist instead of using actual real-world props to give things unique and highly detailed textures which just can't compare to photogrammetry.

Nope, she shoots a drone out of the air moments later. They just put one of their most iconic pistols, the design of which was even in ME1, the wrong way around.
Posted this earlier in the graphics comparison thread...gif from the Peebee scene the OP pics are from:

Whahah wtf
What's this trying to prove? The newer ones looks better.
Eyes are worse though. Too white and flat or something. My only real complaint of how characters look. As for animations well, yeah. A couple of nice new ones but too much oddness and facial in particular is just a bit basic. I don't really mind that much. I just wish it had been better. What's this trying to prove? Normal to whom? If you don't show your hand early there's nothing to "downgrade". I could give you plenty of other examples but let's agree to disagree.
I don't understand how, for a massive company with hundreds of employees, that they can let these things slide. I mean who thought this looked "okay"?
