It's always so fucked how shit like this has to happen BEFORE things change.
It's a bit late now though.
Is this building a council estate?

Thats horrifying.
Buy a smoke alarm people, it may save your life one day.
People underestimate how fast something like this can happen, when the room gets hot enough everything catches fire so much faster.

Here's a link to their blog.Dunno. BBC reported there was a pressure group with a blog who've complained for years about poor safety standards here and fears of a fire.... Electrical surges due to poor wiring. If all true the people responsible are going to jail for fucking life.
It is a truly terrifying thought but the Grenfell Action Group firmly believe that only a catastrophic event will expose the ineptitude and incompetence of our landlord, the KCTMO, and bring an end to the dangerous living conditions and neglect of health and safety legislation that they inflict upon their tenants and leaseholders. We believe that the KCTMO are an evil, unprincipled, mini-mafia who have no business to be charged with the responsibility of looking after the every day management of large scale social housing estates and that their sordid collusion with the RBKC Council is a recipe for a future major disaster.
Worrying reports that very few people seem to have been seen being treated after escaping, the inference that not many have managed to escape. Saying the fire was actually in the fire exit stairwells.
Really not good at all. God help them all.
The council has a lot to answer for this
With a blaze like that and the fact that it started at the very dead hours of the night/very early hours of the morning, I'm fearing for the worst.
Smoke alarm really? Have you seen the picture of the fire?
Dude look at the fire...
Also apparently none of the fire alarms worked.
Via Sky...
The brigade is warning neighborhood residents: if they receive a call from a trapped relative, they should be told to self-evacuate now, and not to wait for rescuers.
This is bone-chilling, just straight up evil.

Looks like there are a few people on the roof.
Jeez, there is, what sounds like an Australian guy called Jody, live on BBC5 that was there at the beginning who doesn't think anyone above about the 4th floor got out. He ran around with a fire axe trying to help but couldn't find a fire exit.

I believe this started on floor 3 or so.. at about 1am. Horrible stories on BBC saying people were making farewell phonecalls to family. Whole building looks engulfed.
This is going to be horrific. Also worrying the building might collapse and take others with it.
Shit.
Fucking hell.......makes me wonder if it was started on purpose. I heard there are many Muslim families living in the building.
It received refurbishment recently.

Those orders telling loved ones inside to self evacuate are heart breaking. There is no possible way to rescue them.

It does sound like police and fire are still attempting to do so, complete with battering rams via Sky.
Don't do this, it's not the time.
We have no idea what caused this and it is too early to be saying something like that. Building could have been well maintained and in code. It could be something that multiple inspectors didn't catch. It could be intentional. We have no idea what caused this yet and it is way to early to make this claim. No no no no no
I'm shaking just thinking of making or receiving that call
The building owner needs to lose everything, but it still wouldn't be enough
