Yeah, there's quality stuff there now. But compare the first 9 months of the 3DS or Wii U eShop to the current line up for the first 9 months of Switch and it's a night and day difference.

No argument there. 3DS didn't even have an eShop until like four months after launch!

So so glad that I held off on buying so many of these games. Most of these games also seem much more well suited for a handheld than for PC or console.

The switch is really going to be a success, at least among the hardcore gamer (as in people that play a lot of games, not talking about master races here)

I'm probably going to be getting...

Thumper
Enter the Gungeon
Ultimate Chicken Horse
Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove
The Binding of Issac Afterbirth +
Duck Game
Yooka-Laylee
Tumbleseed: A Rolly Roguelike
Fast RMX
Flipping Death
Snake Pass
Stardew Valley
WonderBoy and the Dragon's Trap
Overcooked!
The Jack Box Party Pack 3

Damn 15×20 = 300 bucks only in indie games this year???

I'll have to take out a few...

Yeah that's pretty good for sure.

A lot of interesting looking games there, but probably the top highlights for me were Mr Shifty, Flipping Death (Stick it to the Man was really fun) and Wargroove.

Yeah my wife is gonna hate me in the coming months lol.....
I always see people on here say things like this and it always confuses me. Like why don't yall just talk about it and reach a consensual decision?? Or get her into games more, lol

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Sincerly, while I always thought that indies would have been one of the great areas for Switch support...I would've never expected this kind of invasion of games (both old and new) so soon. I'm positively shocked, mad props to Damon Baker for what he's doing and the presentation itself.

Also, at this point, between Switch dev kits becoming more spread and the seemingly ease of porting, I wouldn't exclude the possibility of more games getting announced and released this year.

Shakedown Hawaii is also a timed exclusive apparently, that one surprised me.

edit: nvm it just wasn't underlined in OP

Absolutely. It seems they weren't lying when Nintendo said the Switch made development easy. I'm probably going to need to expand the storage sooner rather than later.

I already have Shovel Knight basically unplayed on 3DS but I'm tempted by this, I'll see if the Zelda+Fast Rmx combo will be enough to me to last until MK8

Great "Direct" and great list of games. Definitely getting some of those Day 1.

Hopefully sell well so it attracts more devs.

A lot of good stuff there. Switch launch year is instantly looking better than Wii U launch year.

I still remember the drought after launch until MH3U and LEGO City Undercover in March and, then, another drought until Luigi U (DLC for Mario U) and Pikmin 3. It was quite bad at times. Had Runner 2 in February too.

Ok so I'm excited for many of these indie games, but then I saw all the raving of Thumper on Twitter and later this thread.

So I think "what does this game look like?"

I check out some gamepl-

Rhythm based gameplay? Great aesthetics? Intense action? HD RUMBLE??? How the hell have I missed out on this game? Day 1, without a doubt. This is going to be incredible.

Real life typically means any time spent on gaming is seen as wasting time. Even when sig other loves to game too. Gaming typically means something is neglected when you have a wife, kids, job and a house.

Not too shabby.

Will take off Overcooked, Ultimate Chicken Horse and Thumper from my steam wishlist. Would much rather have those on switch. Might actually have to pick up extra joycons if they get gangbeasts! Hopefully nidhogg 2 and mount your friends as well - though that is a bit lewd.

Redout is a nobrainer, Enter the Gungeon if it's more nuclear throne than binding of isaac. Already kickstarted yooka-laylee for PC though.

Nice.

Now I just want kororinpa with dat hd rumble! Might end up getting the switch before christmas at this rate.

---oh hover too? Also on my steam wishlist lol.

It makes sense Nintendo is embracing indie developers so much this time around.

With the way the Switch is built, indies (and popular Japanese handheld franchises like Monster Hunter and SMT) are most likely the gonna be the bulk of support for this thing because lets face it, outside of some occasional ports like Skyrim, we most likely ain't gonna get a whole lot of western AAA games for this thing.

I know that upsets a lot of people and I can understand, but I don't mind too much. Wanna try out Snake Pass when I get my Switch.

Lol don't hate man! Of course nintendo would get allot of support with switch for aaa games. They already confirmed that by saying they will support the switch. Also it will be easier and cheaper to do it on switch than ps4 and even much cheaper than ps4 pro. Wait until e3.

I want to respond, but I'm realizing how much of a derail this is, so I won't. Regardless, good luck with finding that gaming / life balance!

Damn. So many of these games are great to dish out multiplayer during work and study breaks w a friend. Portable coop is a real plus. Will grab quite a few of these when I have a drought. Have to beat the games I own first.

Well, I just sent another email to Nintendo. My first email, just mentioned our game with links to more info; this time, I did more of a sale pitch (our best-selling game has over 700k owners just on Steam, Cosmic Star Heroine was voted in the Top 40 Most Anticipated Games of 2017 on NeoGAF, almost a quarter of a million views combined on our 3 most popular youtube videos for CSH, etc.) so we'll see if we get any further this time.

You've convinced me.

Watching some of these trailers makes me feel like the Golden Age of 2D gaming is returning. There is a high level of polish and talent visible, beyond what indies have been (for me) in the past.

Here's a thought.

No VC at launch helps highlight these new indie games.

Nintendo games are so popular that they absorb a lot of dollars, attention, and gaming time.

With VC, third party dont just compete with current Nintendo software, but their entire catalogue of classics of several generations.

Giving them the spotlight for launch is probably a good idea.
