Matrix Revolutions came out 10 years ago

First and last time I bump this.

I hope there's no problem posting this here, if there is I apologize to the mods, I'll take it down immediately.

In almost every single thread about The Matrix I have participated in, there have been complaints about how the new master of the film used for the 2004 DVD and the Blu-ray is significantly greener than it was originally. Personally I prefer the revised color timing but that's irrelevant;

There's a unique opportunity to restore the film in great definition and with the original color timing used in the theaters since someone has got access to a 35mm print.

Unfortunately there's a deadline and the print must be purchased before that. Should you be willing to pledge you have until Sunday to do so. And you can pledge as low as you can afford, even $5 is infinitely better than $0.

If you are interested please take a look here: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/The-Matrix-35mm-Preservation/topic/16139/ and please note that every single pledge is critical; it's far from a "done deal".

Note: the reason one should be interested in this is that it is unlikely the movie will ever get released on home video with the original color timing. Either someone transfers the 35mm print or we're stuck with 1999's DVD quality forever.

Note 2: the originaltrilogy.com community is behind several famous Star Wars restorations, fanedits etc. You might have heard of some of them. In case you are afraid this is a scam, it is very unlikely.

Crazy interesting interpretations goin' on in here. Gonna have to re-watch the trilogy now. I dug Revolutions quite a bit, and always knew there was some seriously esoteric thinking going on in the back ground of the flick, but I suppose I just lacked the necessary understanding of eastern philosophy and other such things.

Either way, thanks for helping me kill time at work, haha.

The rabbit hole goes very deep :)

But work on it and when you come out you will be a changed man. ;)

I just finished rewatching the 4 films again, it was sparked by this thread. First watched them when I was 14, a few rewatches in between, am now 22.

As I've grown older I've become more aware of the decline in quality in the sequels. The only redeeming parts for me are the new programs we learn about; Merovingian, Keymaker, Trainman etc. The Mythos of The Matrix world is the best part, possibly related to my interest in computers and gaming.

Never really liked the Zion parts and I used to enjoy Agent Smith in 2 and 3 but now I hate it when he becomes this ctrl+c ctrl+v thing. The Agents would've been better if they continued existing, instead of this Smithfest. Also the love scenes are as cheesier than ever before.

Keanu's acting is so awkward. But I never used to notice it lol. Ignorance was bliss I guess.

One funny thing with age is that I now find Trinity, Belluci and Niobe attractive, didn't really notice them in my youth lol. The girl with the White Rabbit tattoo is still scary though haha

However one surprising thing is that I've come to appreciate the Animatrix moreso than I ever have. I used to dislike some of these shorts, but I might even go as far as to say I like them more than the first film now. As I said before the mythology of The Matrix program is the most interesting part, not Neo's story. In fact I felt more emotion from these than any part of the films.

Oh god, what did Sculli get banned for this time? :\

Is it another self-requested ban?

When in doubt, always assume that.

Aw come on. His acting cannot be called "good", no, but his performance feels like 90% natural 10% awkward to me. Can't ask for more from him lol.

Ok, the awkwardness is probably a character thing :P.

I just checked RT's scores and Animatrix is actually higher than the first film. So I guess I'm not the only one!

I just got the ultimate edition blu ray for my birthday which gave me a fright at first because all the box and cases are in Italian!

Luckily, English audio and it was only £25.

AniMatrix here I come.

I really wanted to get this but I couldn't be bothered to wait for it to arrive.

One day I will watch the full Blu-Ray in its uncompressed glory though. I wonder if they'll ever do a 3D remake.

Enjoy.

Thanks. I did a re-watch about 4 months ago so I'll leave the main films for a bit but the extras and AniMatrix are mine over Christmas.

Waking up the next day and I still can't stop thinking about this franchise. Man I wanna just rewatch 1 all over again, it's just so damn good. I hope potentially we'll at least get something along the lines of Animatrix in the future. All this The One stuff used to be interesting as a kid, but now it's just the normal stories from within The Matrix that interest me, or even seeing what the Machine city was like. Hell they could even make a film out of the Renaissance, I hope this franchise doesn't have to sleep forever more.

One thing I'm curious about is the Machine City as it was during the events of the films. Are there actually humanoid robots there, because all we see in the film are the cold killing machines. Do they love and what-not, because based on what we see in the Renaissance these machines have feelings.

EDIT: I've never watched these Enter the Matrix FMVs and they total up to a decent amount of footage! Gives me something to tide me over I guess lol.

Ok so I couldn't be bothered to watch any of it except for the fact the two hottest girls in the film KISS!!!! Magnificence like that deserves to have been in the films lol.

There shouldn't be any humanoids. The last humanoid robot we see is after the Machines won and it is falling apart.

Specifically, The Second Renaissance shows us that the war ended with:

1) Man becoming machine-like, "a cog in the wheel", where he spends every second of his life reacting to electric signals in his brain:

2) Machines abandoning their "in Man's likeness" design, instead they will now appear to Man with alien and horrifying forms:

Also the Machine City is described in a concept art image as "A living city that builds itself as well as its inhabitants."

It's all of it a machine or machines.

As for Machines having emotions, yes. Well at least some of them. Some of them are probably merely tools (eg the Diggers that dig their way into Zion). Others could be simple insect like lifeforms and others could have what we call human-like intelligence and emotions.

Thanks for that post.

Matriculation is probably the best example of one of the machines having emotion. And some of the programs too I suppose like Penelope and the Indian family.

Yeah and Agent Smith already showed emotions in the first film. His anger and wish to leave the Matrix were indications of that.
