Since Halo: Combat Evolved launched in 2001, Halo has grown from a video game to a more than $5 billion franchise that encompasses New York Times best-selling novels, multiple live-action digital series and consumer products. The latter – including a dizzying array of toys – have generated more than $1.5 billion and include action figures, weapon replicas, clothing and much, much more.

343 Industries has and continues to be focused on making Halo toys fun, accessible and appealing to everyone – collectors, hardcore Halo fans and franchise newcomers alike. With that vision in mind, the studio behind one of the most successful franchises in gaming history have signed a master licensing agreement with one of the largest toy manufactures in the world: Mattel.

“The success we’ve seen with the Halo MEGA Bloks franchise over the years laid the foundation for this partnership,” said Bonnie Ross, Microsoft Corporate Vice President and Head of 343 Industries. “We’re excited to work with Mattel to bring innovative, quality and, most of all, fun products to old and new Halo fans alike.”

Partnering with Mattel not only expands visibility for Halo products in retailers worldwide, it unifies the design, development and creative vision of an important branch of Halo consumer products. The collaboration has already opened up new avenues for creativity, as two BOOMCo.-inspired weapons – the Assault Rifle Blaster and Magnum Blaster – recently made their way into Infinity’s Armory, the latest content update for Halo 5: Guardians.

“We’re excited to expand our relationship with Halo and 343 Industries to create and collaborate on a broad range of multi-category toys and collectibles,” said Joe Lawandus, SVP of Design and Marketing, Toy Box at Mattel. “From MEGA Bloks to blasters, action figures to radio controlled vehicles, our new line for 2016 features something for Halo fans everywhere.”

Given Halo is a T franchise now instead of just a basically-T franchise, I think it's a pretty good time to start this.

Get in with younger audiences early and sell some collectibles to superfans. A lot of parents will let their children play T games very early as well so you're going to have even more of the 7-9-year-old-wanting-to-play-a-shooter demographic available.

Those are cool but the Square Enix halo figures are what I have my eye on. Those things are beautiful

I probably would've bought these when I was a kid along with my dbz stuff

Yo, that's not how Elite hands work. That's a second thumb, not a pinky.

McFarlane Toys' quality dropped quite dramatically after their Halo 3 lines, but this Mattel stuff isn't an improvement. Yikes.

Nice to see some actual color though.

that feeling when you're a kid and can't play halo, but there are no halo toys

and then you're an adult who can play halo and out come the halo toys that you're too old to play with.

Hmm? I'm not sure what you mean. McFarlane Toys used fairly accurate paints and their multiplayer figures were appropriately colorful.
These colored plastic parts are more saturated, but none of them match the characters' in-game look.

I have the boomco pistol (amazon warehouse deals still has a few for $9 or so) and it looks and feels awesome. My daughter likes dart guns and has fun with if. I'll pick up the ar for sure.

There aren't a lot of companies that they could have gone with to step backwards from McFarlane, and they still managed to pull it off.

At the very least, maybe Mattel's figures will at least be in a scale that matches literally anything else.

So, is McFarlane Halo dead? I stopped really caring about those after Reach, but I think that had more to do with the games and toys they made available.

Those 6" Spartans look fairly nice.. but that Elite...yikes

Also, seems like some stealth Halo Wars 2 announcements are intermixed in some of the toys.

Every time I see "Mattel", I think about the Chocobot Hour.

Someone needs to update this Simpsons picture with the Chief:

This is apparently a Halo Wars 2 vehicle

Looks to be a ONI equivalent of the
batmobile
Brute Chopper.. would be cool to see it as Halo 5 DLC item.
