How about during gameplay? The framerate dips there as well? Is it throughout every level?

Ya, from what I've played even the opening cutscene is like that. During the gameplay when there aren't many enemies on the screen or if you are in bullet time the framerate seems to smooth out.
You can kind of see what I'm talking about in the video below this post.
Or it might be because I installed it to the hard drive. I will try to uninstall it and try again.

Why doesn't he pull the slide back after he put the new magazine in? ...how can a new bullet be in the gun barrel?

I heard the SP is 4-5 hours long (german board - from a guy who played the leaked version). I hope this isn't true and he skipped the cutscenes.

Meh, Max Payne 1 and 2 took me 5 hours each to finish. Seems on par with the first two.

I only watched the first little bit since I didn't want to ruin anything storywise too much but FUCK. This seems like it could be one of the best third person shooters (at least mechanically). The sound of the reloading during bullet time is awesome. And words cannot express how awesome the euphoria physics are. It's one of the main reasons I loved RDR and GTA so much now we have a game based very much around the engine. So close.

I live dangerously like Max, so I'm going head first into the PS3 version. Then the PC version after my gpu upgrade.

I do wish that people who picked up an early copy get a PS3 version, but honestly I don't trust everyone's opinion on performance. The Darkness II demo thread was super misleading about the PS3 version, that game runs well and on par with the 360, when some people were saying it was terrible.
