Despite the really slow month, a little bit happened. Sonic Mega Collections Plus for the PS2 knocked NBA 2K3 out of the top 10. Super Monkey Ball 2 bumped Virtua Fighter 4 out of the top 5, and NFL 2K3 is the only title in the top 5 on a platform other than Gamecube.

House of the Dead III became the second nonsports game to break 200,000 on Xbox, and the first that wasn't a compilation. It looks like Skies of Arcadia will finally reach its final resting place about 50k above the DC's final sales. Not too shabby.

still missing Iron Pheonix, and the last few months of Spikeout sales....wondering what happened with that.

Good question. Looks like they were never posted. First time I've ever seen Spikeout sales.

Only a matter of time until Mega Collection on GC breaks a million...

Probably end of the year.

I think Shadow is going to crash and burn on the Xbox this year. On PS2 and GC it should do all right. Sonic Gems Collection should do fine too.

I don't see Phantasy Star Online for the Xbox on those charts. Any reason to it, or did that game really tanked that hard?

Sega didn't publish it.

Shenmue II, PSO X, and Sonic Advance 1-3, among many others, are Sega games they didn't publish.

Is this list only Sega-published but not Sega-distributed games? I don't see Guilty Gear Isuka.

To think, without me, Puyo Pop Fever would have sold only 5080 copies. (My first copy was lost in the mail.)

Sonic Mega Collection for the GCN should pass a million. Sometime this year. I don't think any other Sega game will hit platinum this Gen.

Hopefully Sega will relize that they do really well on the GCN and support the Revelution more.

I doubt it. I think they will support PS3 the most.

I fear Sega's Revolution support will probably be similar... pretty much just Sonic, Monkey Ball and maybe something new like Beetle MushiKing. Oh and SMS/Genesis games on the Virtual Console...

Hey Sega, where's SMB3?

Sonic Mega Collection Plus on PS2/Xbox had the luxury of debuting at the budget 19.99 price tag and had more games than SMC GCN.

Somehow I don't think Sonic Gems would fair as well as SMC+ on PS2 if it were released at the same time.

But SMC GCN should hit a million by the end of this holiday season. And Sega is dumb for not announcing SMB3. Unless it's in development for Revolution, in which I will jump for joy.

Yeah I meant more games for the Revelution than the Gamecube. Hopefully they will bring games like JSRF to the Revelution. Also PDO or something like that. I think they would have done better on the Cube then Xbox.

No handheld sales? Looks like Sega will continue to be a major 3rd-party for Nintendo.

Nintendo's already got their best two developers: Camelot & Treasure.

I'll start counting handheld stuff when they come out with a PSP title.

Likewise.

Does anyone else think that Sega missed the boat on the Gamecube? It's amaizing how receptive Nintendo's fan base has been towards Sega's products. Nothing against the Xbox or the PS2, but many of the non sport releases would have faired a lot better on the Cube, imo.

Every month this topic eventually turns into "wah, wah why didn't Sega publish JSRF, PDO, <insert Xbox title here> for Gamecube it would have sold so much better!" :lol

Hey Sega, where's SMB3?

Well they thought they'd do SMB 2.5 for the ps2 and xbox. Oh dear. This coming gen I just fear for Sega overall. I expect them to focus on the US market by extending their publishing of western games. With regards to their Japanese teams I expect them to refocus more on the arcade sector. Oh and they'll continue to milk the likes of Sonic. At the very least I expect they won't repeat the disasters like Panzer Dragoon Orta, JSF et al on the xbox. Such projects will either be put on the ps3, or I expect Sega to do some cool stuff in terms of having these off the wall projects on the Revo. However it just seems like they've cut back on such gamers games. :(

Even Sega's dumb enough to pass a bounty like this.

Instead of thinking the Nintendo demographic iz kids, how about giving us some adult titles? It's not like Soul Calibur 2 didn't sale, so give us the real Virtua Fighter dammit!

Because if they had released them on Cube we Sega fans wouldn't have to have three consoles clogging up our living rooms and closets :P

I have a collection of XBox games (Orta, JSRF, Otogi, and growing), nothing to play them on, and the damn thing won't be hitting a pricedrop (for new consoles, at least). Bastards.

The really annoying thing about it is what Sega's response has been. Instead of focusing on the Gamecube when they failed on the Xbox, they instead have decided to change the focus of the entire company to accomodate this new audience.

Yeah, they gambled and won some, lost a lot more then I had anticipated.

Well, I guess if there's any truth to all the gyrotiltocontroller speculation, that would work pretty well.

I also imagine it could be the perfect First Person Shooter setup as well.

That is, providing Nintendo actually gets a REAL FPS series on its console next generation.

Sega's primary business at this time is arcades, so that's where their development focus has been, producing the likes of Ghost Squad, Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution & Final Tuned, The House of the Dead 3, OutRun2 and SP, F-Zero, Virtua Cop 3, Ollie King, Sega Golf Club, the Initial D titles, etc. Their focus for next generation is demonstrated in the Next Level presentation they held at E3.

Sega should release a Super Monkey Ball game for the Nintendo DS. That game will fit the DS like a glove, and I'm sure the sales numbers will reflect that assessment. Come on, Sega, what are you waiting for?

JoshuaJSlone said:

Yeah, that's what I was implying. Super Monkey Ball Twisted.

if I was SEGA I would

-start developing SMB 3 for a REV launch..
-Make Sonic exclusive to one console (Nintendo's)
-start on Beach Spikers Online
-and sell myself like a cheap whore to Nintendo (just a wishful thinking)

No Shenmue II sales figures for the Deathbox?

I ask because I bought it used today...played it for 10 minutes and decided that I don't have enough time for it right now. I'll get back to it later...

Hope it was worth my 10 bucks :(.
