Please give me details on what a terrible person (and typical pro wrestler) "Mike Quackenbush" is.
The infamous list

Seriously, though, i really dislike Quack in the ring. Like the guy does all the crazy lucha holds for no apparent reason. At least lucha has a flow to it. I don't think Quack ever understood it. Then again, Skayde was pretty bad so that explains it

I've seen at least one of Quack's notorious DVD reviews. It's as mental as it sounds.

I know i've said this before, but i loved your work on chikarafans

Love everything about this gif

Hmmm,

"CHIKARA issued the following statement to PWInsider this afternoon:

There is no issue regarding ownership of the CHIKARA name, brand, its assets or intellectual properties. Any speculation to the contrary is 100% false."

If the promotion closed I'd be sad for all those guys, they've all worked hard for many years and not received a lot of kudos.

I always wonder why that is and, surely, it has to do with them not being booked all that much elsewhere - does Quack have some sort of monopoly over their gimmicks/where they can work? Or is it more that people don't book guys trained by Quack? Because there's so many talented dudes on the roster, it blows my mind that they don't work other indies more.

So it's true then! And the rumor has always been that Quack wants complete control over their gimmick. See the Lince Dorado/jigsaw fallout once he started getting booked elsewhere

So uhh.. I just saw the AR Fox thing.

My eyes.

Why would you do that to yourself?

wait WHAT?

AR Fox and gay porn?

Man, I know nothing of the lives of these wrestlers lol.

Hopefully, we can see more of Mr. Touchdown and Archie. Come to PWG!

I was curious if it was Kenny Omega boy fight 'gay' porn or GAY porn.

Also Omega vs Devitt is always so awesome. I find it funny how Omega is pretty much everyone's best opponent

I think he does have some sort of influence as far as their gimmicks go. There aren't that many examples of guys who left the promotion and did other notable things with the same gimmick. Sweeney would be one but his gimmick was really an extension of his own personality, it wasn't a character Quackenbush created. Kingston is similar, his street fighter character is really just him and really caught on in CZW with his Hero feud. However, one good example is Jigsaw. Jigsaw left CHIKARA a few years ago (I forget the reasons why, I'd have to ask around to remind myself) and did work for other indies with his mask. He was briefly masked in the Vulture Squad in ROH. Then, all of sudden, J-Train makes him TRANSFORM!!! and no more mask. He was rubbish without it but there's an entirely different discussion to be had about that period of ROH. Suddenly he returns to CHIKARA, boom, mask is right back on.

The identities of a lot of the masked guys on the roster are well known and the guys without the gimmicks haven't done a great deal. Lots of the debutants from like 2005-07 were local indy guys who trained at the school too so they've worked as jobbers for ROH, nobody really notable. I think it's well known that Lucky/tHURTeen from CZW was Retail Dragon. Same finisher to this day, IIRC (the rollback driver, Asai DDT into a lungblower).

EDIT: Not sure about Lince Dorado, that may have been an issue though. I stopped watching CHIKARA around the time he left, the BDK storyline was bad.

I've always thought the wrestlers who wrestle outside of Chikara in other gimmicks were somehow better wrestlers under their masks in Chikara, especially the ants.

Well, the Campaign for a Better CZW was the best thing Drew Gulak has ever done, so yes, people do better things outside Chikara

Not really related to anything, but someone mentioned Drew Gulak - he had a freaking awesome match against Biff Busick/Frank O'Rourke at a Wrestling is Respect show a month or two back. Well worth checking out, especially as all the Wrestling is... shows are $4.99 a pop.

That was a good gimmick, but I still prefer him as an ant.

Which one is he? Green Ant? I think Orange Cassidy is Fire Ant, iirc.

I think that was something to do with no-showing an event, if I remember rightly. And, yeah, BDK went on for a while and struggled to maintain the momentum. I enjoyed how the angle ended up for Sara Del Rey, though and her whole run up to and in the 12 large summit.

I want to say Soldier Ant.

Our biggest summer EVER starts tonight 9-11p ET on @Spike TV. Huge BFG Series planned, + major events like Slammiversary in Boston this Sun," Carter wrote. "And the ink is just drying on a BIG free agent that will rock #ImpactLIVE on @SpikeTV. Tune in & join us on this summer adventure."

Its from Dixie. So who do you think they signed? My bet is the big free agent is RVD again.

It's a good thing WWE lets the guys at WWE.com put up WCW guys who never worked for WWF/WWE, it lets them get their mark out. I like how they don't pull punches or downplay guys there, that article there praises Liger as an all time great even though he wasn't in WWE, and other articles like the Dudleyz' or Kurt Angle's give them the highest praise even though they all work for TNA.

I've also noticed that someone, or possibly several people, at WWE.com is/are a massive Sting fan. He's always mentioned in anything related to WCW as one of the best, or even non-WCW articles, he shows up in major spots.

I really don't think Vince ever looks at the website.

Man, I spit my drink out when I read this;

"Why is the Hart family so depressing?" > "Unlike the von erich's half of them refuse to die."

Holy shit, I feel bad for laughing.

Bootaaay, for someone who is so fiercely guarded when it comes to protecting his character, isn't this bizarre?:

Yeah, I thought it was a bit odd - Dave said in this week's Observer that it might have been because WWE wouldn't give him permission to use the Undertaker name in the commercial.

Speaking of this week's Observer, Bootaaay, holy shit@how horrible the Rock and Roll Zumhofe story is. If it's true that Buck's fellow broken down, drug-addicted conmen knew and chose not to speak up because he's "one of the boys," I hope the DA assigned to the case finds a way to eradicate this entire wretched fucking sport.

I got around to watching last week's NXT for the Sami Zayn TV debut, and it seemed like they gave him a pretty decent start. He had a solid match with Cesaro, hell, the rest of the show was pretty good too. I really need to keep up with it more.

I'm really curious to see how persistent the Ole chants will be going forward. At least WWE didn't try to drown them out on the recording. I've become a huge El Generico fan after starting to delve into indies over the last few years, and I'm bummed to see the character go, but really glad to see him get a potential big break.

Can we please not reveal the identities of the wrestlers in CHIKARA. Part of what makes the promotion so great is that they have there own little universe all by it's self.

Really surprised CHIKARA responded to the pwinsider rumors. Something has to be going down Sunday.

I've said it before but CHIKARA is all Quack. I would think hes very protective of something he's brought along until this point and he wants everything done in a very specific way. Reminds me of a guy who ran ECW the exact same way..... What was his name??? Quack might be a douche sometimes but dude has a hell of a wrestling mind.

Is Nick Hogan a free agent? Maybe he could be the GM of the X Division or something.
