woah, 430K in one day? so thats lookin at 500 thousand plus for week one of a DQ spinoff? Well you can see why they will be throwing support behind the ds! with FF3, this, FF12, and DQIV, well that could be 4 million sellers just there. would make them the 2nd most successful handheld software maker behind nintendo yes?

The DS has been out in Japan now for 2 full years plus 4 weeks. In its first full year (including launch week and all) only 3,774,087 units were sold meaning that a huge 10,055,274 have been sold in the remaining year and 4 weeks.
These 4 weeks have been the past 4 weeks in the run up to Christmas but even removing them to leave us with the second full year leaves a massive 8,772,684, well over double the first year.
The momentum with DS is amazing.

I wonder what kind of sales Pokemon is going to end up doing. It's pretty insane to see it shift ~400k copies when it had already sold ~4M...games like ACWW, BT1/2 and NSMB have had excellent sales over a long period of time but Pokemon is on a different scale

If they got enough stock to the EU it will could have done something like 2.5M. I suspect that the total worldwide sales of DSL this month will be in the region of 6M units

I'd say Kirby's more of a potential million seller... really depends on how it holds up after the holidays.
