Media Create Sales - 10/30 - 11/5

I like how he put the period behind PSP

It seemed to add an extra oomph to the overall tone and intention of the post. Rofflecakes

It didn't stop doing well. Its sales are excellent. Not everything is going to continue selling forever. It's already sold more than double Mario Tennis (225,000 more, to be exact) -- what more do you want?
but there is no Mario Tennis for DS yet.

Hey, cool!! I made that graph months ago err...3 million less units ago. Glad to see someone remembered it!
:D

I think I made an Engrish version too that read (in Iwata's language):

Seeing the Pure Author's "in conclusion" pic, I was reminded how ugly the prototype DS was. Compared to the DSL, it is like Swan vs. Ugly Duckling.

I predict that in PS3's Launch week in Japan, DSL will still be #1. In fact, I predict that DSL will be #1 all the way, up to first week of January 07.

Isn't that already a given? Since DSL sells over 150k each week -_-

It really could go either way the week Wii launches, remember that there is a DSL shortage so they might only ship 150K the week Wii launches as well.

wow at the WE difference...with that number it has already sold its first shipment, quite different than selling just half of it and most on the first day.

LoL @ ToT

Its a Namco boycott to prevent top10 DS domination, eh?

Sony has nothing new for next week's chart either actually. Except from PS3. That will be enough to prevent DS from taking all ten spots though. ;)

The DS is still going to take the top few spots though. There's no way any PS3 software can sell above 80,000 next week.

Another Namco boycott because Ridge Racer 7 and Gundam will be the titles there...:lol

Also, did you know that out of the five PSP games that have been in the top ten since August, all of them are published by Bandai Namco?

SD Gundam G Generation Portable
Tales of Phantasia
Ridge Racers 2
Gundam Battle Royale
Ace Combat

At this point, it doesn't surprise me anymore...but Sony has really dropped the ball on PSP support.

I guess Jeanne D'Arc will break that trend...who knows, maybe it won't. ToW is around the corner, beware :lol

I'm definitely not a DS fan, but seeing the DS destroy the PSP by such a huge margin is amazing.

Hopefully Sony puts more effort into the PS3 than they did with the PSP.

Unless they have to suddenly devote all their attention to a new device that must save the company, I don't think the PS3's going to share the PSP's fate.

We need the pokemans data in a graph form. According to the Famitsu data, D&P are outpacing every pokemans game to date (Red and Blue started out slowly and popularity spread through word of mouth).

Where's the man with the awesome pokemans chart?

This has to be one of the most amazing charts for DS that I've seen. The thing just doesn't die down. It must be like iPod over there.

Amazing post @ Pureauthor :lol

WE DS sales actually seem pretty solid. It could reach sth. arround 200-250k. Hell, it could perhaps even break through LanceSterns magical 300k barrier ;)

Agreed on the amazing part - Im still surprised at the way things are going. Hopefully Wii annd PS3 will produce even more interesting sales charts over the next few months. Good to see some lively competition I reckon.

I have prepared a graph, but I could not insert the image directly in this post. Any easy to use (minimum hassle, no registration needed) Image hosting site ?

Next week will be interesting. After more then one year of Nintendo DS's domination (I mean TOTAL domination), finally somehting will change, because the PS3 is out with stocks of 80'000-100'000.
I expect in particular the ALL the stock will be sold in some hours (minutes ?) and that for a while there will be super shortages.
Then, in is very likely that Ridge Racer 7 and Gundam (and perhaps Resistance too) will be in the top 10. Not so likely for the rest of the Launch Games (in particular Genji).

This doesn't mean that the Nintendo DS will not be the best selling console next week. And this doesn't mean that Nintendo DS's games will not be here, in particular Pokémon, Common Sense Training, Kirby and New Super Mario Bros.

What ? What I think ?

Well, something like that:

Software:

1) Pokémon Diamond & Pearl
2) Common Sense Training
3) Kirby
4) Ridge Racer 7
5) Gundam
6) New Super Mario Bros.
7) Brain Training 2
8) Resistance (?) I dont really know what this game will sell in Japan...
9) Kanji Test
10) Animal Crossing.

Hardware:

Nintendo DS
PS3
PSP
PS2 (How much will PS3 affect PS2's sales ?)
......

Well, this are my previsions. It is possible that I have forgotten some element.

This is not so out of question after all. Of course 25/30 for Nintendo DS. Twilight Princess, Wii Sports and Wario Ware in the Top 10 and the rest something around.
don't forget Wii Play, the free controller bundle will help the sales

1. (DS, Nintendo) Hoshi no Kirby DS - 166,131 / NEW
2. (DS, Nintendo) General Knowledge Training - 159,166 / 348,866
3. (DS, Pokemon) Pokemon Diamond - 105,943 / 1,604,152
4. (DS, Konami) Wining Eleven DS - 89,275 / NEW
5. (DS, Pokemon) Pokemon Pearl - 81,604 / 1,358,416
6. (DS, Nintendo) New Super Mario Bros. - 31,307 / 3,366,560
7. (DS, Nintendo) Brain Age 2 - 27,448 / 3,387,842
8. (DS, Rocket Company) JLAA Official Kanji Kentei DS - 22,824 / 210,556
9. (DS, Nintendo) Animal Crossing: Wild World - 20,691 / 3,389,974
10. (PSP, Bandai-Namco) Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception - 17,961 / 78,545

Pokemon Diamond/Pearl - 187,547 / 2,962,568

This means Famitsu chart will be 10/10 for DS...

DS sales are supply-constrained and not demand-constrained! Predicting DS sales for a week is the same thing as predicting its shipment total for that week. There's no way to be certain of that, so trying to predict how DS will do in the PS3/Wii launch week is fairly useless.

PS3 and Wii should be the same way. The only thing to predict concerning their sales would be if Nintendo's shipments of DS is greater than Nintendo's shipments of Wii or Sony's shipments of PS3 for that week. Not exactly the most thrilling predictions. :/

LanceStern,
I've been translating the Famitsu Top 30 each week in the Media-Create thread, and verplant has it on his site, too. Mario 3-on-3 is still on that list.

Probably not. It only takes 20k to make the Top 10 as is, so expect several PS3 game to make the chart. Remember, the people who are buying the system now are the hardest of hardcore, they'll buy several games along with the system. I'd also expect many people buying games with in anticipation of getting the system (I know I've done that before). I doubt Animal Crossing will be back in the Top 10 and I think there is a decent chance of even NSMB being bumped out.

Forgotten element:
B000HCFJHK.09._SS400_SCLZZZZZZZ_V41354928_.jpg

Btw, Common Sense Training is back at #1 on amazon...legs starting to show, mouth word spreading...its all over again.

PS3 games are not going to do that well because of:
· Low hardware supply
· Saturday launch, new games on thursday and old games all the week
· Namco-Bandai to steal 90% of sales with Ridge Racer and Gundam

Not really, remains to be seen with the Wii. Regardless, the PS3 will be selling much less than the PS2, the market they are going after in itself has shrinked a lot. The size of the box is dramatically bigger compared to Wii, too.
