I don't really see a tidle wave of Nintendo dicks in these threads. I'm a general Nintendo fan, as are a few others, but aside from some being brutally honest, no one is being a dick here.VOOK said:Nintendo is being awesome Mr Mr Mister.

everyone would say damn that guy is kind of weird. thats all im saying.

cvxfreak said:Wii Fit.
cvxfreak said:Wii Fit is going to be absolutely huge.
I went to Bic in Shinjuku today and witnessed their new demonstration kiosk for Wii Fit. It attracted quite a few crowds and the workers have jackets that say "Wii Fit Staff" on them. Took a few cell phone pics.
In other words, the holiday season's begun in Japan. The game stores I visited today were rather busy.
apujanata said:If Sony have too good capabilities in the own internal development team, they run the risk of alienating third party. At least, that is the understanding I got from most discussion when discussing Nintendo's excellent first party vs lousy third party, people keep on bringing "Nintendo's first party are the reason third party doesn't want to develop for Wii".
reilo said:Eh, I would wager that most of the "Third Parties Hate Nintendo" rhetoric stems from the opinion that Nintendo never bothered to reach out to third-parties. Sony has always been very forward in helping out third-parties [moneyhatting, durr] in various ways; whether that's sending out in-house dev teams to help utilize an engine [UE3], or saving a company's ass from going bankrupt [$80mil gift package to Squaresoft after FF:TSW anyone?].
First party games should be the cream of the crop, or at least, challenging for the top spot in quality.
cvxfreak said:That kiosk got me to pre-order the game.
I am part of the problem!
Deku said:SE has been the most prolific third party publisher on Nintendo platforms for the past three years. Some of you still talk about SE as if they're just moonlighting on rival platforms until the PS3 or PSP gets up to speed.
In anycase, Sony was very helpful and had a business plan that was beneficial to third parties up until they launched platforms that cant sell software. Jack Tretton insisted himself Sony doesn't honeyhat developers in the way you're implying.
Try again.

why do you think Mario Galaxy failed to attract the attention of gamers?
what happened?

apujanata said:Why pre-order it ? Just curious, since you didn't see overweight (unlike me) (and I believe you should be in "fit" condition, since you are still young).
cvxfreak said:Beats me. I thought it would have been huge myself and predicted sell outs. Alas, that didn't happen. Mario Galaxy's performance has been akin to any major game that debuts above 200K, but it remains to be seen whether it can have the legs to be a huge hit.
Wii Fit is Nintendo's final game to be released on Wii this year. Mario and Sonic at the Olympics was released yesterday, so it's those 3, plus Wii Sports, Wii Play and Umbrella Chronicles that will carry the system through the holidays.
Some of the minigames just looked like good fun. I don't have any intention to actually lose any weight or become any healthier via Wii Fit.

reilo said:Oh please. We all know that's bullshit. Moneyhatting doesn't have to be in ways of "we'll give you $50mil for your DLC content," but rather it could mean in various ways such as paying for third-party ads [which Sony has done], pay for publishing/distribution, help with development costs, etc. To say that Sony has not done that, and is not doing that now is just naive.
AnimeTheme said:I am not that optimistic. Quite a lot of people dislike its relatively ugly game cover, and some comments from the early release of the game are quite negative.
This is probably the case, I agree. Nintendo is pretty much doing the extreme opposite of what did them in(or part of it) during the N64 era. That is, draconian policies regarding third parties. Now, they're pretty much the laizzes faire type, pretty much telling third parties they are free to do whatever the hell they want, and don't expect meddling from NCL. That includes moneyhats(unfortunately?).reilo said:Eh, I would wager that most of the "Third Parties Hate Nintendo" rhetoric stems from the opinion that Nintendo never bothered to reach out to third-parties. Vinnk said:Nothing like that in my neck of the woods. Just a few posters up. However, the TV ads have apparently been making an impression. My Fiancee had no idea that SMG was coming out, but she and even her Mom know about WiiFit. It is being showing during a lot of the programs that have a high female viewing figure.
As for the Vinnk's Village report, I have the numbers, I just have to get it formatted. I'll put it up tomorrow. That is of course if Mr. Mister is ok with that.

I think Wii will be back on top of the home console sales next week, and then if Wii Fit doesn't provide the boost that it is expected to... well then I don't know what is going on with Japan!

well you have to remember as well this time its being split between the ps3 and ps2. so the ps3 is stealing sales from the ps2. i think if you add them both at the end of the week it might get close to what pes 07 did. oh yeah as well the 360.nextgeneration said:Just as a reference point, PES 2007 on ps2 did 470,163 units in its first week.
