Thanks for that. Interesting and a bit surprising.

I'm surprised there's much left at all, aside from the Sofmap Table Evergreens.

hahahaha it's like the bizarro world.

Evergreen software continues has steady small shipments and sells steady quantities of software for a long time without a price drop. Evergreen bombas are categorized by having many copies and selling none at all even with multiple pricedrops.

Do PES numbers include bundles?
Dunno but it would surprise me if the limited edition bundle isn't another one capped at 10,000 units.

PES2009 numbers are quite strange, last year there even was a DS version released before the PS2/PS3/360 ones. It even managed a million between those 3 versions.

I wonder if delaying the PS2 version won't even hurt PSP and Wii versions performance since they'll have to be released right next to each other (and right next to the fucking crazy January/February/March lineup).

PES 2008
NDS - October - 70k
PS2 - November - 673k
PS3 - November - 317k
360 - November - 18k
PSP - January - 190k
WII - February - 110k
Total 1,378,000

PES 2009
NDS - Canceled
PS3 - November - 94.5k
360 - November - 5.5k
PS2 - ? - ?
PSP - ? - ?
WII - ? - ?
Total 100,000

I dunno, PES may be dying. Hasn't it been getting a pretty bad rep the past couple of years? Maybe FIFA will start doing better in Japan.

Agarest Senki numbers are a bit on the low side, but the game doesn't install to the HDD, and there's been a fair bit of bad mouthing regarding that on 2ch.

Yeah I had the same thought

Shinobi says something about 20k PS3 edition.

PS3版が累計で約2万本を販売している
"PS3 version of a total of about 20,000 books are sold"

Google translated yeah

Jonnyram could you translate this?

PS3とXbox360では、人気サッカーシリーズの最新作
「ワールドサッカー ウイニングイレブン 2009」が発売。

PS3版が累計で約2万本を販売している

Yeah it says 20,000 copies of the PS3 version were sold.
But, looking at the site, it's talking about Agarest Senki :P

yay Layton!

:lol Opoona ASCII art. If they ever make an Opoona 2, I can see it being a cult hit because of its meme status.

Or maybe everyone is waiting for the Wii version.

Yeah, right. :(

Waiting for the Wii version?
lol

- Tamagotchi at 7k, lol. First one sold over a million.

The same kind of thing happened on the GB/GBA, IIRC.

This points to an easy half million for Layton - fantastic!

Performing less than the first two (~3/4 million) would be underperforming, in my opinion, unless you're just talking about the first week sales.

Based on the latest Famitsu hardware numbers...
PSP comparisons: After 206 weeks, PSP is where PS2 was at 153.3 weeks (February 4, 2003), where DS was at 91.7 weeks (September 1, 2006), and where GBA was at 137.9 weeks (November 8, 2003).

X360 comparisons: After 154 weeks, X360 is where GCN was at 15.0 weeks (December 23, 2001), where PS3 was at 19.0 weeks (March 18, 2007), and where Wii was at 4.0 weeks (December 24, 2006).

PS3 comparisons: After 106 weeks, PS3 is where PS2 was at 23.6 weeks (August 10, 2000), where PSP was at 54.4 weeks (December 21, 2005), where GCN was at 107.7 weeks (October 3, 2003), and where Wii was at 25.6 weeks (May 24, 2007).

Wii comparisons: After 103 weeks, Wii is where GBA was at 90.9 weeks (December 14, 2002), where DS was at 71.2 weeks (April 10, 2006), where PS2 was at 100.5 weeks (January 31, 2002), and where PSP was at 156.2 weeks (December 3, 2007).

DSi comparisons: After 3 weeks, DSi is where GBASP was at 4.7 weeks (March 14, 2003), where GBM was at 11.8 weeks (December 2, 2005), and where DSL was at 3.7 weeks (March 24, 2006).

Based on the latest Media Create hardware numbers...
DS vs PSP: Weekly shares of 63.7 / 36.3 bring total shares to 69.0 / 31.0. If DS stopped selling and PSP continued at this week's rate, it would catch up in 217.4 weeks (January 24, 2013).

X360 vs PS3: Weekly shares of 47.0 / 53.0 bring total shares to 24.0 / 76.0. If PS3 stopped selling and X360 continued at this week's rate, it would catch up in 107.8 weeks (December 18, 2010).

PS3 vs Wii: Weekly shares of 33.1 / 66.9 bring total shares to 25.8 / 74.2. If Wii stopped selling and PS3 continued at this week's rate, it would catch up in 262.5 weeks (December 5, 2013).

Week over week, PS2 and PS3 are pretty flat, but everything else is ramping (or bumping) up.
X360

Wii passes 7 million.

It looks like they changed the name this time, but I think(?) its in the same vein as the other 3...just Kira Kira instead of... Puchi Puchi...

Puchi Puchi Omisecchi 1 - 1,110k
Puchi Puchi Omisecchi 2 - 780k
Puchi Puchi Omisecchi 3 - 205k
Kira Kira Omisecchi - just released to 7k first day sales

There was an unrelated one from Jupiter called Niji-Venture that sold 162k in March between Puchis 2 and 3.

The GB/GBC series looks like it went like this:
Game de Hakken!! Tamagotchi 1 - 746k
Game de Hakken!! Tamagotchi 2 - 487k
Game de Hakken!! Tamagotchi Osucchi to Mesucchi - 109k

But the good part comes from the release dates. 27 June 97 -> 17 October 97 -> 15 January 98. No wonder it went down, 3 games in 7 months...but it doesn't stop there, a N64 Tamagotchi was released THAT December (79k), a Saturn one in THAT January (no numbers) and a PS one in THAT February (99k). 6 Tamagotchi games in 8 months :lol

YES!!! Rune Factory Frontier is doing nicely! :D

Strangely, didn't Harvest Moon Animal March do much less, and it was released a month before?

Edit: Must've misread, we didn't get any actual sales data on Animal March yet, only shipments and the forecast.

they must have known that tamagotchi was a fad ( which it really is).

Am I the only one hoping that jimbo will get a 2 month unban so we can argue about the non-significance of 360's gains?

:(
Console wars. Serious business.
He should never have been banned in the first place.

What was he banned for?

If anyone deserves to crow, its jimbo.

I dunno, PES may be dying. Hasn't it been getting a pretty bad rep the past couple of years? Maybe FIFA will start doing better in Japan.
Lol, have you looked at Fifa numbers this year? Anyway, maybe when Fifa Online eventually comes to Japan, interest could pick up a bit. But it could also do the reverse and kill packaged game completely.

Eh? He predicted unreasonably high expectations for the 360. The fact that a lot of the people opposing him were predicting unreasonably low expectations doesn't mean he was a prognosticator. I think he let himself get provoked as time wore on, and he didn't stop the arguments when he was instructed to by a mod. I think that was what finally got him banned, again.

I think he predicted weekly averages of 7-8K for the rest of the year. I for one thought that was too optimistic.

12K, IIRC.

Noooo, why so low!

Someone has numbers from the first one?

16K first week, 12K second week. It was released at the end of the year, so its second week was a year-end number.

IIRC he was actually banned for non-MC thread activity. I heard it was pretty embarrassingly bad.

Why does 2ch love Opoona.

Did I miss something?

Opoona became a legend at game hard @ 2ch, when it crashed and burned during its release. Ninshins said it will be a "million" seller; eventually it selled around 3000 copies on first week, thus becoming a 2ch sales legend. The whole "million seller" became a meme there and that's what their ascii Opoona is trying to achieve. :)

Who, me? I didn't say I'm doing this thread again...
I think he means Panther since Jonny did the last one.

I'm just happy that charts have their own section after the SW now. :p
