whether Nintendo can manufacture and distribute as many discs as the publishers want to the market

150k first week?
They kinda sort of did it with the GCN as well. I mean aside from the RE4 port there was very little GOOD RE support on the PS2, most of it was on GCN.titiklabingapat said:Wouldn't it be kind funny if Capcom ends up establishing the main RE fanbase on the Wii by releasing various remakes before RE 5 gets even released for the other consoles in 2009?

Let us all take a moment to remember that the GameCube was once the best selling console the month of its price drop.

That has nothing to do with Mario Galaxy release, both the american and japanese stock markets were down the last 2 weeks.Parmenides said:Investors have reacted negatively.Today,Nintendo Co. slid 3,800 yen,or 5.93 % to 60,200 in Osaka.

Yeah, for example this week vs last week:donny2112 said:Have you ever actually seen one of those percentages change? I'm sort of thinking that they could just be the percentage sold the first week regardless of how long ago it was released.
Ghost Squad did surprisingly well, too.ccbfan said:Finally a decent number for a core game on the Wii.
Yeah its not wow great but anything not bomba at this point is excellent.
Maybe they found a market for rail games on the Wii. First DQS now this.

Japan likes rails.
It's a good compromise to the Japanese aversion to First Person perspective in general.
Krowley said::lol
Didn't even realize ghost squad was out yet. Maybe they do like rails. I'm personaly not a huge fan of the genre and it's hard for me to comprehend somebody liking such a restrictive game design.

Phife Dawg said:I think it's kind of funny, Wii sells 37k during Mario week and that is rightfully considered weak and disappointing. PS3 sells 55k during the week which had the launch of a new SKU at a cheaper price, new colour and one of the biggest franchises in Japan and that's marvelous? *scratches head*
Of course you could argue that it's indeed marvelous for PS3 but by the time you compare it to the competition (360 is no competition) or make predictions about the oncoming take-over, well it's kind of ultra-optimistic to say the least.

Stumpokapow said:It's a game based on a show based on games. You play parodies of old Famicom games and have to look through parody video game magazines to find cheats and strategies. It's very... meta.

55k for 1 day sales for PS3 and 180k in DW software for day 1 is great, since PS3 used do to less than 10k few months ago.
Now, maybe some of you thought that PS3 will do great anyway but I kind of doubt that. I think one of the reports mentioned that it beat sales analysts predictions by 50%, so yeah, its pretty big.

You might not be far off, if a month from now wasn't December.Eeikod said:I dont see PS3 keeping this sales for much time, they'll probably end up in 20k~ a week in less than a month. Or MAYBE NOT, WHAT DO I KNOW, nothing that's what.
Different situation. There, the new main-series entries 0 and 4 were announced for GCN, and it was supplemented early on with remakes and ports. This time around Wii isn't getting a main-series numbered entry, but it's still the first getting spinoffs and ports.Dahbomb said:They kinda sort of did it with the GCN as well. If my sources are to be believed, merely the white Wii would sell faster than anything before it.Frillen said:Like someone else mentioned. How much do you think the Wii would have sold if in just a day if Nintendo released; A white Wii with HDD, price cut and let's say Monster Hunter 3. I'm saying 200k+.

Well they even had problems with their own game here (MP3). I don't know how there could ever be problems printing dvds at this day and age but apparently Nintendo have figured out a way.Luckyman said:Wow just wow.. how can Nintendo have problems manufacturing discs?

Maybe you haven't read my whole post. I said that sales are indeed good for PS3 but people proclaiming the turning of the tide are apparently comparing the numbers to the competition. PS3 did beat Wii but not because the numbers it pulled were amazing but because the numbers Wii pulled were bad (considering SMG launched).spwolf said:37k for Wii that used to do 60-70k when major new game comes out..... is bad.

DayShallCome said:Yeah. And this is where Nintendo's widely publicized production issues will really start to have an effect. There won't be restocks of UC in time to curb the influx of used copies. Still, first week should be ~100k, which I would imagine is above Capcom's expectations. Good stuff.

alske said:This is purely my opinion as a Monster Hunter player (about 120 hours into Freedom 2), but I don't give a crap about Monster Hunter games that are not on portables. The game is best when played with friends sitting around someone's house hunting until 4 or 5 in the morning. The game's single player is extremely lackluster, and the online multiplayer (at least in Frontier) is pretty crap. I see no reason why Monster Hunter 3 on Wii (or any console) would pull numbers similar to an iteration on a portable.
