So for the online software stuff, I started hitting the last generation of consoles. Tonight I did PS2 in 2000, using the same data sources I did for the static PS2 best seller lists I've made a few times over the last few months: the weekly Top 30 lists and the end-of-year Top 100 list. This only takes it through its 44th week on the market, so not as long as PS3 and Wii, but on the other hand it's just gone through most of the holidays. The next data chunk will probably be GCN/GBA/PS2 for 2001.

You know, people have pondered why Namco would put a game like Ace Combat on the 360 given its sales performance in Japan, but in a little more than a week in the US it sold more than all but 7 PS3 games have sold lifetime in Japan. Its US sales will probably surpass all of them except the Musuo games and Minna No Golf by the end of the year.

But yeah, the mainstream gamers don't seem to have warmed to FPS games much. Even Japanese produced ones bombed there.

It also sold more in Japan than all but the top ten PS3 games. Of course, it would have done a little better in Japan on the PS3, but I doubt much better.Sho_Nuff82 said:
