First we pick a number we know is pretty steady from week to week usually. Let's go with PSP at 30k because we've got an inside line on that one. Going from that:

Wii - 90k
DSL - 180k
PS2 - 15k
PS3 ~14k
360 ~3.5k

Oh, I mean I I. :) I knew the first 3 calendar years were about a million apiece, and 2004-2005 combined were about another million, so 300K more through July just seemed like a good guess without needing to fire up a spreadsheet.

Judging by the SW charts, I'd say 80k or so for Wii is looking pretty good. Expect more tears from Sony and MS, though.

My first (and only) prediction: this week, PS3 is sub-10k, and the thread has a meltdown. I don't know why, I just have a funny feeling that it is going to be a scary low number this week.

I also predict that my prediction will be totally wrong. So, either way, I'm guaranteed a hit!

Remember Animal Crossing WW + Mario Kart DS + Pokemon Dungeon + Brain Age 2 + Mario & Luigi 2?

That was pretty damn epic, looking back. Not so much the games themselves but their combined effect on DS sales.

i agree with the person who says its the ps2 hurting the ps3. still good for sony that ps2 is still doing good with games though, once ps2 dies out everyone will move onto ps3>.>

But then...you...I...<sigh> Hardware numbers are same time tomorrow. We don't get them the same day. Software Wednesdays, Hardware Thursdays. You probably won't get to see them though, they'll be overshadowed by NPD.

Yeah I don't think it's the PS2 that is hurting the PS3.

I mean, let's say last week everyone that bought a PS2 decided not to and buy a PS3 instead. The PS3 would still have only sold 30k.

MADDEN '07 BABY!!!

It's pretty dry for the next few months, actually. Sinobi predicted some sub-10k weeks for the month of May, picking up again in June. Don't get your hopes up too high though, "picking up again" is relative. The jump in numbers will be from catastrophic to merely abysmal.

Probably. The Golden Week will accelerate the process. By the end of April, these two friends will surely reach 980'000 and 970'000. Btw, I'm very worried about Poké sales. They are BOTH out of the top 30. That's pretty unusual. Do we have a chance to see the back before the Golden Week ? Will it have an effect on their sales ?

The most obvious failure of anybody who isn't Ninty, seems to be the lack of casual Japanese targeted software. It's almost all established hardcore software from MS and Sony. Nothing quite fresh enough or light enough...and the high prices hurt bad, too.
