You all just wait for VF5.

In all seriousness, there are some big hitters coming for PS3 but you make it sound like there is nothing cooking in Wii's oven. Mario Galaxy and SSBB will be huge (amongst others). Plus Wii hasn't really seen a major release in Japan either now for quite some time.

The one big game that could turn around everything (in Japan at least) will be FFXIII and it certainly won't launch this year.

You've only seen them on HD sets that handle 480p quite poorly then. Wii games look absolutely fine on my 32 inch HD set.

Also you were leaping for joy about the Gundam Musou sales when they were first announced... So people aren't going to be buying the PS3 for that then? Or is that not a "big hit" anymore?

Well, if people actually considered buying the 360 there, this wouldn't have to be the case. Alas, short of FFXIII going multi I will poor one out for my Japanese counterparts and their non HD suffrage.

He's right. 5 million PS3s will be sold without any games. The Wii will be sold back en masse by 2009 when we are forced to acknowledge the quality of high definition images meaning that the Wii will begin to see negative sales in just two years.

I'm looking at the software sales and its nice to see normality restored, I'm just wondering, if the Wii can sell 60-80k every week for the past 5 months with only 1 big game (Wii Sports, since zelda isn't really selling that much in Japan comparitively); and with the Wii outstripping supply and i can only imagine what is going to happen once the heavy hitters of SMG and SSBB are launched.

I'm going to call Japan to Nintendo this gen.

US and Europe? still undecided (but not for long).

Maybe it was actually Yamauchi that said they'd sell 5 million consoles without any games... and some crappy site like 1up misconstrued it to be Sony who uttered those words.

I'm sad because the HD goddess never touched me in the funny places like she did with so many others...

Maybe it's because I spent all those years sitting in front of things called "CRT monitors" and the radiation killed off the part of my brain that was supposed to go OMFGBBQ when exposed to higher resolution imagery.

I love seeing the Weekly Nintendo Pac-Man now actually chomping on Sony. Will the Japanese sales ever stop being hilariously funny for anyone that enjoys seeing Sony flounder? I hope not.

Wii outsold PS3 over 6:1. Is that highest ratio yet? God, this reminds me of when the PS1 started to really stomp on Saturn in Japan. I think it took ratios of 10:1 before the Saturn die-hards finally admitted it was all over. :lol Wonder if Golden Week will provide those sorts of ratios...

So when do people predict PS3 will break a million in Japan? If you would have predicted in November that 5 months later PS3 would not have yet hit a million in the land of the rising sun I would have found that patently unbelievable and recommended you get some psychiatric assistance.

I think Sony is just going to be comparing the PS3's hardware sales to the 360's from now on. They will pretend that Wii isn't next gen. and just count them out.
