So how does the Vita's next 6 months of games compare to the 3DS's next 6 months?
They did when the Vita was announced at the same price as 3DS, and again even during the price drop (because it "reeked of desperation," fire sale, doomed to lose all third party support etc.).
Well, the memory cards did sell well for the Vita, so it makes sense that the hardcore crowd are playting their PSP games on the Vita and not buying Vita games. Not ONE Vita game in the top 20 :lol What are they playing on it? psp games I guess but don't you have to download them

Just from a "narrative" POV, not an actual reality POV, I think it's worth noting that the 3DS had an excellent, very well received E3 2010 reveal, followed by some silence and then a steady stream of terrible news leading up to a shitty launch period. The Vita had an excellent, very well received E3 2011 reveal, followed by some silence and then a steady stream of iffy news leading up to an iffy launch period--simultaneously, the 3DS has experienced a revival due to <insert attribution here, price cut, actual games, eShop, everyone was just waiting for Christmas anyway duh, whatever>.
So I think what happened is that the Vita's good news twilight zone announcement period coincided with the 3DS' coming down to earth poor launch period, while the Vita's coming down to earth launch period has coincided with the 3DS' renaissance.
Without making any kind of long-term prediction, I think the narrative has probably been a little exaggerated on both sides because of the coincidental timing there.

Not very well. 3DS has Kid Icarus, Luigi's Mansion, Kingdom Hearts, Resident Evil, Fire Emblem and several such franchises, whereas Vita's next few months resemble the barren spell that the 3DS had after launch.
Just in terms of the long term I never really saw what the PSV did compared to the PSP to "change" things.
if they took the 3DS out of the shelves it would take the vita 2 years to catch up at this rate. wow.

Every game doesn't have to be a million seller. 3DS has a steady stream of potential 200-500k games coming out in the following months which is a sign of a healthy platform.to be fair resi seems like the only potential million seller of that bunch. even though i don't think it will do that well.
to be fair resi seems like the only potential million seller of that bunch. even though i don't think it will do that well. whens the next big 3DS title coming out?

It would be a miracle for Resident Evil to sell a million. The game that has the best shot out of those listed is Kingdom Hearts, though that will probably fall a bit short.
Revelations won't be a million seller in Japan.to be fair resi seems like the only potential million seller of that bunch. even though i don't think it will do that well. whens the next big 3DS title coming out?
When the DS came out, touch screen gaming was still a pretty new and exciting thing. By now, Sony's saying look, we matched them feature for feature...but stuff like touch screens are basically assumed at this point. It's not about having the same features as your competitor (though that helps), it's about offering something new.
And also software.
One Piece is still hanging on, nice.
Hopefully PS Vita stays above 40K.
Now that you mention it, it would be pretty dymb to release both in the same year. The next big 3DS title (sales wise) would be Animal Crossing or Tomodachi Collection 2 but I don't know when they are coming out, sorry.
It's definitely about software. I mentioned that the Vita is not a "disruptive" product and it isn't. I think the PSP when it came out WAS disruptive. It was sleek, it was high end, it had an amazing screen that could do things the DS couldn't do at all.
So how does the Vita's next 6 months of games compare to the 3DS's next 6 months?

You confuse Tamagotchi with Tomodachi.Does Tamagotchi Connection actually have a chance of being a million seller? I know the first one reached a million, but the second one was half that, and the third barely broke 100k. Were they vastly different games?

Also, WTF?

This is true, and something that I haven't really seen mentioned that much. The PSP was the first device I remember encountering that could do "high quality 3D." My first experience with Ridge Racer, having that kind of game in the palm of my hand, was absolutely something new. In 2005, this was an experience I'd never had before. In 2012, I've played a ton of 3D games on portable devices with impressive screens. The PSP absolutely had a disruptive advantage that the it seems like Vita's not going to have in its corner.
Also, WTF?
Kingdom Hearts 3D doesn't have a specific date yet, but it's been confirmed for March too.

You think 1st week and LTD will be the same ? ;-) That would be pretty darn good.Fixed
