Media Create Sales: Week 15, 2013 (Apr 08 - Apr 14)

Back below 10k for WiiU, hopefully a while until Vita shares the same fate.

Not surprised by Luigi really. Nintendo fanbase worldwide needs something to play, and brother, this is it.

Yeah im sure they're beginning the wait for the next 2 years

HAH! Nice.

Oh wasn't Vita supposed to drop below 10k before end of March ?

Was that Brain's initial prediction? If it was, eh. Predictions don't usually get hit right on the nose anyway.

You going to do this every week?

Every week the Vita drops, I'd assume. I don't know who said it would stabilize at 30 though... That's way too high, especially with no games in the future

So I was right about Vita, well kinda, I predicted 13k.

Next week: 11k?

I'd probably round it out at 10.

This looks to be a repeat of last week, IMO. Luigi doing Luigi, hardware taking a dive all around

Unless FFXHD, god eater, or anything worth mentioning comes out soon, vita and wiiu will be failure buddies once again

*shrugs* It's got Tomodachi Collection, Pokemon X and Y, and Monster Hunter 4 coming for it this year, plus a billion supporting titles. I'm not worried

Who said anything about being worried

People make excuses both ways. Doesn't change the facts. Vita is the best hardware handheld on the market and it ain't selling worth a poop in any territory.

Best in hardware specs? Yes.

Best as a gaming machine? That's subjective, and people are are voting with their wallets.

I'm sure some will make the shortages excuse, but it's pretty apparent that the Vita price cut is a failure, though it did result in a longer respite than I had initially expected. Ironically, it'll probably go down in gaming history as having shortened the platform's lifespan, as it'll make it harder for Hirai and Yoshida to justify keeping it around.
I wouldn't call it a failure, price cut pushed games and hardware. It ain't no revival for damn sure, but it never looked like one to begin with.

Before or after March, 9k or 14k... what's the difference?

Why are people amazed that Luigi is doing good? I mean it's a ''Mario game'' on 3DS. Wouldn't it be news if it DIDN't do good?

And I don't believe for a second if someone argues with it being a western game.

Couldn't resist stealing this from the ND thread

And I don't believe for a second if someone argues with it being a western game.

Who's arguing? It's a fact. As for perception, that's a completely different issue. But a Western-developed game designed to appeal to gamers in all territories remains developed in the West.

Thanks for all the answers, I didn't know that there was a new color and bundle due this week, makes sense for the sales to drop then.

Animal Crossing just won't let go. Amazing.
Good for Weegee too holding strong on the top.

I guess ~15k is a better baseline than the sub 10k it was before price cut for Vita, but was wishing it would hold at least around the 20k mark... Oh well... We know now is not dead and as long as games keep on coming out it may still be a viable platform. Let's wait and see if Sony does that.

Are you are saying the price drop was a success because it hasn't dropped below 10k yet?

System | This Week | Last Week | Last Year | YTD | Last YTD | LTD |
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| PSV | 14.112 | 19.328 | 8.250 | 369.499 | 219.685 | 1.500.324 |

The first one only sold 348,918 units (Famitsu), and LM2 looks like it's going to double that.

On 3DS hardware sales, I associate 30-50K as being normal range for a successful system, based off of what PS2 was most often doing in normal months. 3DS has been above that "normal" for a long time, so it's not real unusual (to me) to see if coming down to that range here.

Sony's making much less money now heading below 10k. Its a failure because if Sony had the choice now they probably would have left it alone

Check GAFs predictions. No one predicted it to do as well as it's doing. It being a sequel to an over 10 year old game that sold around 300k probably added to that.

Yeah, it's pretty far from the DS standards, but it's not like it's unhealthy or anything. I think in Q1 2012 also, the 3DS was coming off a greater momentum with the trinity software lineup and a somewhat steadier stream of software/bundles. Will be interesting to see what Tomodachi does next week.

When Nintendo's corporate campaign has pretty much an entire sub-section of GAF donning their avatars in a green cap, its pretty unsurprising to see them popping fireworks over its sales success. There hasn't been much in that world to celebrate as of late!

#bitterness

Luigi's sales in context are pretty incredible disregarding the stupid fanboy whining

Hey I had my Vita Christmas, who am I to begrudge Luigi Hanukkah! Looks like a great game, glad its selling well. Rather it than some slop like NSMB.

It's doing better than almost every other Mario spin-offs and the last time Luigi got a game for himself was over 10 years ago. And it didnt do nearly as good as this.

"King of second bananas", the colonel said.

Actually, it's basically doing like the last two home 3D Mario entries, if not better.

Are you implying that all Mario universe games are bound to sell shedloads just based on the names?

I don't think that's easy like that.

Someone sounds upset.
