Media Create Sales: Week 17, 2017 (Apr 24 - Apr 30)

Yeah, it's sounding increasingly unlikely, not mentioned on the cover of Dengeki and not in Famitsu at all:

https://twitter.com/bk2128/status/861876675742621696

(Btw, Dengeki has Zanki Zero coverage).

That 2ch post sounded like a leak someone wanted to sound belivable. Dynasty Warriors info was guaranteed and anyone not expecting it on PS4 would have to be as brainless as the average NPC in the game. Falcom always releases something in September, so unless Trails of Cold Steel 3's development is a wreck, it should be out then (they have nothing else). It's Atelier's 20th Anniversary, so a re-release of the original games isn't that unlikely ... but a remake of three at once? From the same company that puts out expanded versions of almost every game they make? The same company that remade a previous Atelier game on the same console as the original release and charged full price? Yeah, I don't believe that.

really? so far I've seen them publishing some monster hunter games in europe and dragon quest games ww

Bravely default both of those, puzledora bundle, Fantasy Life, Inazuma Eleven and YW series.^_^

I dont know if i miss anything there.(not counting jp exclusive game here.)

Why do you do this to yourself? There's a 99.9% chance you'll be disappointed. You're gonna be the only guy in Media Create threads after Splatoon 2 is released to be disappointed by its performance, because your predictions are sky high.

He predicted something like 10million Nintendo Switch in Japan this year so..

Sony/MS have zero JRPGs in production for their consoles right now while Nintendo has couple JRPGs series that will for sure continue on Switch like Pokemon, Xenoblade and FE in addition to

So massive isn't the right term.... But considering they are the only ones doing stuff in this space it's not surprising.

At least the rumor gave the Sony Twitterbase plenty of excitement that yay Gust are finally dropping Vita therefore no more downgraded releases
based on a collection of PS1-era titles

Yeah, massive might have been the wrong term admittedly but Nintendo is definitely one of the biggest RPG publishers.

They have three announced this year and two more rumoured.

well tbf most of their games are platformers and rpgs so it's obvious that they're one of the biggest rpg publishers out there

I think it will get more jrpgs than the ps4, unless the ps4 somehow beat the switch straight up in Japan in the future

beating Switch in Japan has little to do with it. I don't know how many times it needs to be said to some of you people but the reason PS4 gets the lion shares of third party support is due to its global sales.

There's very little chance SW can even catch up to the PS4 in terms of JRPGs, due to the latter's third party support.

I'd be extremely surprised if such a thing (Atelier remakes for PS4) are real but not advertised at all by both magazines (Famitsu/Dengeki): that's something they wouldn't hesitate to put on the cover or on its official website as an important scoop. Unless the "remake" part of that leak is as correctly used as "massive" in the last two pages of this thread.

I mean the 3DS got the lion share of third party sales. for pretty much it's entire lifetime and it's still beating the PS4 with a successor out in terms of software sales. The assumption goes that if the Switch is anything like the 3DS it'll have multiple times the amount of domestic sales the PS4 currently has. though obvious it's based on the assumption it performs like the 3Ds did for most of it's lifespan.

Well between Mario RPGs, Fire Emblem and Pokemon then yeah I'd say they do. I guess Pokemon is third party technically.

But that's without mentioning smaller stuff like Xenoblade and Ever Oasis.

I wouldn't even know where to start.

I mean Pokemon is on their first-party sales earnings in every Japan results briefing.

If that's the reasoning, wouldn't the fact that Switch is currently selling pretty well not just in Japan, but in all major territories, help in getting more support, in the same way it helped PS4? Especially if it obtains to keep this pace up, of course.

Sure, but that matters more for some genres than others. Like, I doubt PS4 western sales had a lot to do with determining whether to release Nobunaga's Ambition on the machine.

There's a big difference between selling very well in the first two months and selling very well 3 years later.

Not talking just about Western but overseas. Aren't those games popular in Asia?

I'm pretty sure they are talking about the number of games and not total sales.

Btw there's no new Sumikko game announced yet right? This might eventually crawl its way to 200K, which yet another milestone this game is passing (best-selling title in the series already right?).

Sumikko Gurashi: Mura o Tsukurundesu (Nippon Columbia) {2016.07.21} - 1,433 / 171,697

There is, on July 20th: https://www.famitsu.com/news/201705/09132648.html

Also, Jake Hunter: Ghost of the Dusk (3DS) releasing on August 31st (5 370 Yen).

If you don't live in a world where Japan discovered western sales only when PS4 came out you will find many games or whole companies that domestic sales are the biggest part of their business.

I am not certain the 3DS will get that many more exclusive 3rd party RPGs like the 3DS did. Because it is relatively close to the other consoles in strength and using the same engines I am going to guess many Japanese 3rd parties will be Switch/PS4.

Probably but just as they'll be plenty of PlayStation exclusive rpg's there will likely be a number kf switch exlusice rpg's. Smaller Japanese devs don't seem to be as interested in multiplatform and largely neither first party encouraged them to do so.

Wait, did we expect DW9 on Switch?

Whatever the case, he's almost certainly correct. You need only look to the LTD and think about what's still to come for Nintendo, the current sales rate, and the fact that momentum has not abated.

Not sure if serious. Not sure at all.

Come on now, this time it was an obvious cheeky answer to my earlier post. No Oregano-ing this time
I don't guarantee for the future, though

I don't know if this is the right place to ask it but is there any indication whatsoever that Square Enix is interested in localizing DQHI+II for Switch? Have they indicated being satisfied with DQHII PS4's western sales or anything?

I think it won't make it to the west though, but who knows

Other than it appearing on retailer websites (which doesn't really signify anything) there's been no word.

That doesn't change everything you've said until now, you just were forced to tone it down because nobody was taking you seriously.

What you referenced was a post where I was theorizing how the Switch would sell at different price points with Splatoon enhanced port at launch(it was a post before Splatoon 2 was confirmed). I thought that a Switch Splatoon bundle at ¥25,000 would be able to move 10 million Switches before the end of 2017 in Japan.
The price of the Switch ended up higher than $200, Splatoon 2 wasn't ready for launch and there would be no bundles according to Nintendo.
Hence I toned my prediction down because of those factors rather than people taking me seriously. I don't really mind discussing why I'm predicting these things and owning up where I went wrong when for example Nintendo ships so few Switches for the launch, or how much lower actual shipments for 3rd party games were during the launch, I do lack knowledge on the Japanese retail market hence I take part of these discussions.

They've already done the localization work for the individual releases. I assume they've just been quiet about it to not take attention away from the solo DQHII release first. In Japan Heroes II came out well before Heroes I+II was even announced.
