Why do 3rd party games sell better on the ps4 compared to the switch with a 4 million install base advantage?

it really depends on the genre and usually the games only sell better on PS4 the 1st week or so. Something like Trials of Mana might have a better first week on PS4 because all the big ticket RPGs from Square Enix also release on PS4 so all those hardcore fans buy it early on. Same thing with One Piece because Warriors games were always on Playstation and only this gen moved to Switch. Switch titles usually have better sales legs though. Overall if the difference is this small it doesn't matter a whole lot.

Both versions of Trails did really well. As did basically everything this week:
