you act like being the best selling ps4 game is something horribleDLC rarely ever push a games sales especially when the game is not doing really well from the start.

There's another Tower Records X Splatoon Collaboration this year
I know, but selling one million copies is not much of an embarrassmentIt kind of is when even a failed system (Wii U) can have 3 games that definitively sold over 1 million copies (1.2 or more), and if you count games that might possibly have sold 1 million (like Final Fantasy 15) it's got 4.
Numbers equal ratings and not sales. Are we able to determine any approximate numbers? I'll do 3DS next. All

FFXV is a drastic decline for FF as a franchise. It's still a very good result for a console game. It will probably be the only non Nintendo developed console game to reach that market due to the current market. It kind of is when even a failed system (Wii U) can have 3 games that definitively sold over 1 million copies (1.2 or more), and if you count games that might possibly have sold 1 million (like Final Fantasy 15) it's got 4.
Also its pretty obvious that Japan gravitates towards Nintendo styled polish as fuck gameplay with cutesy presentation games. So FFXV will probably be then only game not to have that style to sell as well.
So.... what exactly is Monster Hunter then lol ? It definitely doesn't have the "cutesy presentation". Also I'm not sure what you mean by that anyways.
I guess we'll see how DQ PS4 & KH3 pan out. I don't expect them to outsell FFXV, but I would love to be surprised. Maybe some traditionally console focused franchises may get a second lease of life in Japan on Switch or something thanks to its portability. I guess we'll see.

if only Nintendo by some miracles makes it on par with the nds first year, that would be awesome to seeSwitch is already above 3DS and Wii U first year releases. One more big announcement from Nintendo and it will come closer to Wii first year, though it will need to be a major one.

Edit: please can somebody summarise the last 20 pages or so to save me reading? Thanks!
The PS4 isn't as much of a failure as the Wii U in Japan, but its close.
A month after DQXI I'm sure it will be sub 10k weekly.

Wut.O_O Thats a bold bold prediction.

Correct me if I'm wrong
Look like they're going in on the west then with those Steam ports. Nice to see them support Switch, wonder if it'll get every back-port of the SciAdv titles just like Vita did (and if they can get people to buy them again for a 4th or 5th time )
They have enthusiastic fans. They keep releasing Japan-only XB1 ports of games that have to be selling dozens of units, so anything's possible.

Financial Times said:Nintendo has ordered a production increase of its Switch gaming console as global stocks fail to meet demand and disappointed fans scramble to secure machines through an informal online market in Switch futures, say people close to the company.
The planned production hike for the console is designed to meet demand ahead of the Thanksgiving and Christmas sales peak in late autumn, and has been ordered just weeks after Nintendo declared the $300-priced Switch to be its fastest-selling gaming device.
People involved in Nintendos hardware supply chain say the Kyoto-based games maker is now targeting Switch hardware production of 18m units for the 12 months ending March 2018.
also thisWas this discussed already? Sorry if OT, but this seemed the most relevant active thread, and I'm not aware of Financial times' credentials for video games related reporting. Is posting from a paidee subscription article grond upon? If so, I will remove the links and stuff.
Seems quite similar to the other report of 16 million this year from the other site (WSJ I believe).

Wowza, FT predicts 80 millions lifetime Switch.
but remember, no more 3ds or gba to save them from now onWow. Ninty is increasing the number again this time to 18 million? It seems that the demand really is so huge that Nintendo is scrambling to produced any Switch they can right now.
I feel this must be one of the reason why NES Classic is stopped in its production there.

Seems rather conservative. Switch looks set to be able to follow the PS4's pace which is likely gonna break the 80 million barrier in another 2 years. I'm pretty sure the switch will be around for as long as the 3ds was.Wowza, FT predicts 80 millions lifetime Switch.

I think it can do nds numbers( YES, I SAID THAT)Mobile would be able to bring much more than what 3DS would be able to bring them in the future the more they are adapted into that market.^^
Don't forget their movie and theme park initiative too.^^(QoL is dead huh.T_T)
I can't see it reaching PS4 number like at all lol. That is a really hard thing to reach if you ask me.
80 million+ a bit is already a really positive number for me i think. Except if Ninty had super high expectation on Switch numbers.

Sony has shipped 60 million PS4's in 3 years and plans to ship another 17 million this year which would bring the total up to 77 million. Barring a catastrophe of sorts, 80m is a lock for the PS4.I can't see it reaching PS4 number like at all lol. That is a really hard thing to reach if you ask me.

If we're talking about sell-through, Sony has to sell on average 13.3m consoles over the next two year to achieve that target. For reference, PS4's sell-through for 2015 and 2016 are 17.4m and 17.5m respectively. Moreover, I'm of the opinion that the PS5 is around 3 years away so that would give them 1 more year of sales before we see a massive nosedive in sales.
Yeah, you're right. My bad.I think he was talking Switch, not PS4.
I mean, the Switch looks to be a huge success right? If that 18m rumor is true, that would put it close to the PS4's pace and if we assume that the switch will be around for roughly 6 years, 80m seems to be an easy target.
Of course, nothing is set in stone but so far, the switch has exceeded my expectations. It's easy to see why the Wii flat out died at one point but the Switch seems to be a genuine gaming machine so I'm pretty confident with my predictions. If the trajectory kept up yeah but there's no guarantee of that.
odyssey will definitely pass 1mI guess he's counting Mario Odyssey but that won't cross 1 million in japan, much less in 2017
