Why? This is SE we are talking about, they really don't have any clue how to handle most of their franchise (look at Hitman)
I wonder if DQB is a big success (which it will be) on Vita, SE will start making RPGs for it and not so much on NX (since it's an unproven handheld)
Idgaf about Minecraft but I'm excited for DQB.Fairly impressive in-store displays started appearing a week or two back, and there's already a big Minecraft audience on the Vita, so this makes sense. The videos they were showing in stores made it look pretty cool, and this is coming from a guy who's never cared about MInecraft.
Unless the game completely falls off a cliff from now, i dont think it should be that big of a problem. Theres about 5.6k Vita copies left and about 11k PS4 copies, going by Media Create. Not sure about the PS3 version, but probably about 3k-4k copies left (15.1k shipment).Odin Sphere ended overshipped in the end.
Sell-through, i.e. the percentage of copies shipped which were sold to customers.what does the "<60-80%>" or "<80-100%>" mean in these threads? under the famitsu numbers. thanks.
Square Enix are also shutting down Shissou, Yankee Damashii and Mugen Knights on March 31.Looks like Rise of Mana is shutting down it's service in March...

Announcement
Adventures of Mana (Final Fantasy Adventure) and Romancing SaGa 2 are being remade for Vita and smartphones, plus Vita is getting SaGa Scarlet Grace too.I thought it was a success...? The way how SQEX is handling both the Mana and the SaGa franchise is quite worrying.

What would you have preferred Square Enix to do?Indeed: quite worrying.

A more serious effort in developing and promoting games from these two franchises. A third remake of FF Gaiden just signals the lowest-minimum effort SQEX could have taken - same for SaGa, the PSV game was announced one year and basically disappeared since then.
Saga has always been an eccentric pet project. Mana Square has had no clue what to do with at least since 2000.
It had a successful first two years, an ok middle two, and a disappointing last two. It will end up being a mixed success.
The risk though is that what we're seeing isn't so much a failure on Nintendo's part to maintain interest, in which case they could do better next time around, but the results of a market shrinking more every year, in which case there isn't much they can do. If the NX bombs in the West, hopefully we can seek refuge in the Media Create threads.
At least they managed to release some main entry and interesting experiment back then. It's like Capcom developing Breath of Fire 6.
Legend I think with hindsight was decent despite it not being the SD3 sequel everyone wanted. Sword was at least an effort to create a linear Legend and merge the two lines. After that Square basically threw up their hands with Children and Heroes.
Square Enix has become notoriously cheap on all but their flagship games since Matsuda took over.
He even listed Setsuna as the standard of what they are willing to invest in a new IP going forward, and that game looks ultra cheap.

Dawn of Mana failed spectacularly in 2006 which resulted in years of hiatus, so I think it's understandable that they aren't willing to risk making a high budget entry just yet. SaGa series too hasn't seen a new main entry released on consoles since Unlimited SaGa in 2002. Regardless, they're both coming back so IMO it's a step towards the right direction. At least they managed to release some main entry and interesting experiment back then. This ad must cost as much as whatever money Ms is making with Xbox in Japan (Yodobashi Akihabara)
Pitiful hardware sales for PS4 despite a few games coming out. It's kind of tragic how little Japan gives a shit about consoles nowadays.

Now DQB guy is tweeting that sales are exceeding expectation by far. The first additional shipment may make it to retailers this weekend, followed by another batch next week.
PS4 and PS3 versions are sold out at nearly all Yodobashi Camera outlets, though it looks like they'll be getting new stock tomorrow.I am heavily suspecting that this is the PSV version as I've not heard of supply problems for the other two on my grapevine.
Of course it could also be regional differences.
Alice Order doesn't seem to be taking off, at least at launch.
Well, you can't win them all.

I keep forgetting this is releasing this week. It's going to sell a lot less then the previous games, isn't it?
Time for stupid questions again.
-Why do Koei even bother with XBone versions? Surely it must be a loss?
I'm still doubtful about its legs, the price is a problem for audience coming from Minecrat, in my opinion, and if Rakuten report is confirmed, seems like it would be Minecraft to get boost from DQB and not the opposite
I'm not surprised about reports from DQB, the problem is not how much is performing during these days but how it will in the next weeks...

It's OK Moor-Angel, you can be excited. No one will say DQB fell below expectations. I promise*.
Takarajima Stores talks about the new update for Gundam, and their new price at the store, 1.780yen.

Has there been any reports on the DQB Vita bundle sales? That was on general sale right?
I do think the West is the worry. The software performence of the 3DS there in recent years has been resembling that of the Vita in Japan. 4.6 Million units but we have just one game, sold at a discount, which is hitting a 20% attach rate. The 3DS has 12 million units in the US but its top-selling 2015 game was well under 1 million. Things like Yokai were under 200K. That is a lot of people who simply left the market. It would be surprising if they are going to be there day one for NX.
Ironically it is the WiiU, especially in Japan which seems to have the most active owner base in terms of core software, but that is mitigated by the fact that we are talking about titles we can count on one hand. A lot of people seem to be either buying multiple versions of the same handhelds or to have zoned out.
