First, as best debut for a Tales of, there was Destiny 2 with 500k
Now, there's Xillia.
This has to do with the lack of AAA SE offering on the platform after FFXIII: RPG fans who bought the console for it now are looking for what is available, and the main game available is ToX... IMHO

Yep, looks like the 3DS has stabilised at around 50k. It's in a very healthy position now! (And with it's upcoming lineup, it's gonna steamroll the competition come Christmas time for sure)

The 3DS sales are stabalizing and will only get higher after the Monster Hunter 3 & 4 news. This Holiday is gonna be nuts in terms of 3DS hardware and software sales.

Yeah I think so too. RPG fans have been starved on consoles for a while, so it's no surprise that they're lapping up TOX (especially since it hasn't been held back in some stupid way this time!)

Regardless of whether or not VITA also gets prominent MH releases, losing the exclusivity they had last gen is a big deal.

all rpgs released on PS3 in the last 2 years. None of them sold gangbusters. Xillia sold high because it didn't have to sell half on another console and then sell half when ported to PS3, so it could sell its entire amount at once.
