That's exactly my point. When I saw the pink 3DS announcement, and the Girl's Mode announcement, I expected them to launch alongside. Didn't happen. Then I saw the FabStyle announcement, but that seems to launch a month after the pink 3DS for whatever reason (missed opportunity?). Tetris is the game launching alongside the hardware, and Nicola launches a week later. Will there be some sort of synergy effect? Wouldn't surprise me, really.Mpl90 said:

It could do close to two million i think, but that is because the game is out on two platforms. If it was PS3 exclusive, i dont think that we would have seen millions sold.Canova said:
The PS3 version alone would probably see somewhat higher sales if it was exclusive compared to now when the Xbox 360 version also excist, since then people would be "forced" to buy the PS3 version. But i dont think that the Xbox 360 version would eat that much into the PS3 version sales. I think more that the Xbox 360 version will be additional sales, and Sony wouldnt see those sales if Dark Souls was PS3 exclusive.

It could be that they did, but wasnt able to. After seeing the success of Demon's Souls, maybe From Software felt confident enough to publish the game themself in Japan. And Namco Bandai made it possible for the game to be multiplatform (which usually means more sales), something that Sony wouldnt do.Boney said:

I agree. When Nintendo thinks they will relentlessly dominate its $250 3DS with an awful launch and a single stick. When Nintendo is struggling its $170 3DS with awesome exclusives and a 2nd frankenstick. They also did some cheap/grimy things with the Wii as well. However, I thought for the most part when the dominated with the DS they were pretty awesome.walking fiend said:

In my opinion, as a consumer, Vita doesn't have to beat 3DS. With nearly a year's head start, that will be near impossible. As long as support for the system is constant from both 1st and 3rd parties, I don't care. I just want it to have a nice long, healthy life. It doesn't need to beat 3DS to do that.

I don't think only Nintendo will benefit. PS2, and even PC gaming, paved the way for 360 and HD consoles in general. Wii paved the way for Kinect. And Nintendo gave birth to an expanded casual gaming market by DS as well.Takao said:

It depends on whether or not smartphones have really stolen away the causal audience. If they have, then they'll both end up trying to appeal to console gamers, and Vita has every advantage there, thanks to shipping with dual analog, console graphics, and an actually usable online system. Plus, Call of Duty. (I'm sure 3DS will get that too, but Vita's version will be better in every way.)Takao said:

It's pretty rare that a game opens with higher first week sales than its predecessors LTD. Also wow at the Senran Kagura sales. Marvelous must be pretty thrilled by that opening. It probably contributed to the uptick in 3DS sales a little bit. Price cut is certainly doing its job, particularly with the uptick over the last 2 weeks, considering not much has been released.
