Yes, I said Fernando. Stop this, please.
Fernando linking about an article with Fernando's quote in it... almost Inception.

Fernando told me via e-mail about this. If you want, you can call me over the phone to prove that it's me.

For real.

I am always so off.... not funny.

Congrats to the good fighters who take the time to check comprehensive data for accurate comparisons with similar past periods.

Was on the IGN boards when that went down. I still feel it was an intentional slight by Fran to not even give it an 8.0. He also admitted to not being into the Co-op multiplayer, and I had tons of fun with that, personally.

7.9 on the IGN boards makes 8/10 look like a minor disturbance, though, it was similar situation. Losing console pinning hopes on big game that got a less than expected score damaging hopes for said console.

But it's not valid to act like it invalidates the sales or that it's the only reason it's selling well.

And I love how 40% turned into almost 50%.

My comment wasn't trying to invalidate anything. It just answer the question people keep asking as to why people thought the 3DS was doomed a couple of months ago. Well, it was doomed b/c it was overpriced for what you were getting and it wasn't selling to nintendo's expectations. What changed? They cut the price. Now we have these sales. Is there something wrong with pointing that out?

Don't really know what to say about the 40 to 50 percent comment. It is just a different way to say the same thing. The 3DS has had the quickest, biggest price drop in the history of modern video games.

@FFDOG: Yeah, it's true that Sega helps EA now, but BF3's debut is still something amazing for EA, SEGA or not SEGA.

Dead Island, however, is a REALLY interesting story. It should be near 65-70k. A new brand, not hyped as the big guns... interesting.

In talking about western games, there are still some things that we need to work out; Such as why did Mass Effect 2 sell less then 10k(On both platforms / ps2 late release)(Is the jump from EA to sega markating really that big of a difference? Besides binary domain BF2 was the 2nd biggest section at sega:s booth)

Maybe those who are willing to play western made games only want to play FPS'? Or maybe they just don't like WRPGs? So far in the west I've yet to see much popularity for Japanese made FPS' maybe it's a similar situation.

There are plenty of people trying to say that the price cut is the only factor in the increase in sales when, in truth, if that conference hadn't happened 3DS would not be selling as well.

And 40% is 40%, not almost 50%. Saying "almost 50%" is just trying to make it sound bigger than it really is.

Regarding the price drop, has anything dropped so much so early in its life, or during any time frame even? I'm talking about even failed handhelds that went against the GB for example.

Didn't Nintendo's other 3D system drop about 90% after about half a year?

Was I the only one amused that position 1,2 and 3 sold roughly the same amount of units this week.

You mean 2,3 and 4. I'm much more surprised by the fact this week we had four titles over the 100k limit, it feels a bit like Christman :p

UC2 didn't do it, it's not a statement as laughable as you think.
Yes it is if you actually think of when it was released and how much marketing Sony has put behind the game.
I'll bet it easily sells around 700k in the first month.

Uncharted 3 will be even at 1 million for November in USA, IMHO.

P.S. Oh, poor Ferna...I mean, Daniela.

The 3DS was priced about about 1.25x what it should have launched at. I think the price hurt momentum to much they cut the price to about .75x what I think it should have launched at.

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Wonder how FFXIII-2 will chart.

So was it confirmed Daniela = Fernando?

Tee-hee :)

re: Price cutting. While the jury is still out on Western sales, and the announcements from September were clearly a factor, is it safe to say now that Nintendo made the right decision in slashing the price so early and heavily?

I know it's easy to sit here and point at current sales, roll your eyes and go "well, of course a console is going to sell well when you cut the price that much" but there was at least some doubt about it before the cut. It also wouldn't be the first time Nintendo had slashed prices on a system only to see it still struggle along - GameCube being the one that springs to mind.

Gamecube didn't have it's price slashed though. It had other problems to contend with but it launched at an incredibly low price to begin with.

Am I misremembering, or did it not get its price cut in Europe shortly after launch? I also seem to remember brisk price cuts in the US, but perhaps my memory is shot!
