First week sales with sellthrough, nothing compares to this.

Do you mean the 3DS or the Vita that moves forward and does new things? Those quotes are hilarious. Really, it's nice to see the Vita fail just for crow eating reasons. It's sad to see the Vita fail so badly as it is actually a good Sony console, typical we copy last gen Nintendo and make it better and more expensive.
No idea if the Vita deserves better sales. But it sure deserves better fanboys who actually buy the thing and not just brag about how it is "superior" to the 3DS. Which actually moves forward and does new things.
Wouldnt that indicate more that it has been put on ice? I think the game was delayed to improve the developement, not that it is ready and is waiting to be released.I think you meant the freezer.
Vita isn't going to be killed off now. You'll first see them reducing the price dramatically to see if that saves the system. Before they do that, they're going to see if PSN+ incentives reinvigorate sales. We'll know within a week or two how that's going.
It's pretty crazy people hunt for the download cards too.
They basically just have to connect their 3DS and buy the game if they really want... I guess it will take some time before Japan begin to like digital buys.
PS+ is unified with PS3. If you have PS+, you get all the offers on PS3 and Vita.I never understand this. How can a service asking the users to pay more after purchasing the hardware be a good selling point for VITA?

Let us serve you your crow. It is sauteed with a lovely side of third party games (tapas).

Buying games directly from the eshop costs more money

Proabably a different situation in the West...Tried for half an hour, didn´t get it to download.
So I went by Gamedatamuseum and arrived at:
3DS 17,500,598 games / 8,025,672 hw for a 2.18:1 attach rate
PSV 1,431,121 games / 985,048 hw for a 1.45:1 attach rate
as of Nov 14th.
Do these numbers seem right?
To be fair, everyone assumed the Vita would get the same level of third party support as the PSP, or better. Most of the stuff shown in January 2011 and E3 2011 evaporated though. MonHun Portable 3rd, videos of MGS4 and other games running on NGP, Call of Duty Vita, Bioshock Vita ... well COD actually happened, but we assumed it would be good.
I think the thing is people assumed Japanese devs, the cornerstone of handheld success, wanted to move on from PS2 era visuals. Japanese devs this past gen declined significantly in the console space but thrived on DS/PSP, in large part because that's where they wanted to be. It seems that Japanese devs just love that level of power for some reason. It runs completely counter-intuitive to western thought, but I think it's possible that the 3DS' weaker hardware was actually a selling point for eastern devs.

If only the software quality and quantity in NA/EU was anywhere near that of the US.
Honestly, that attach rate seems really low though...
If you were a subscriber to Famitsu, you'd be getting 1st day sell-through along with 1st week sell-through.
Oh, yeah.
top 100 vs. top 50
are the links broken? Can't see.
I sent an email to Media Create to clarify once for all about download cards, and received this answer:
Hello,
I am PR of media create co., Lte.
Thank you for your question.
The cards are not included in total software number.
Yours Sincerely,

Nintendo's probably now gonna want Animal Crossing out for Wii U asap lol.
Broken for anyone else? I guess something is blocking min.us on your end.
I would never have expected Animal Crossing would end up having the biggest opening yet for the 3DS (won't hold it for long but still), I always saw those titles as slow-burns. It's pretty amazing how great Nintendo handheld the promo for this one. I'm not a huge AC fan and I really want this one. Considering the sell through, the drop might be pretty big next week unless Nintendo restocks it really fast, it will still probably cross the million anyway.
I wonder why Nintendo had such a low shipment to begin with concidering that the DS game sold over 5 million copies. Maybe they thought it would have a slower opening and contunie to sell steady for a long, long time. Imagine if MH4 would ship for example 200k to 500k in the first week when MHP3rd sold nearly 5 million copies. This makes me remember that Nintendo originally planned for an initial shipment of 200K, and laugh.
Animal Crossing has got to have exceeded even their best expectations. It's going to be massive all holiday and into next year.
Best Price version, a re-release that cost less money. It is equivalent to Platinum/Greatest Hits versions. What's the difference between this Monster Hunter 3DS and the one in Famitsu tOp 30 this week??
Actual game innovation leads to franchise sales records, whodathunkit!

Probably they just assumed that almost every major 3DS title that was big on the DS had significant decline so AC would follow that pattern. Especially after that huge drop off for City Folk. I wonder with these numbers if Japan is telling Nintendo that AC is more of a handheld franchise like Pokemon given sales of the console entries versus the handheld entries.I wonder why Nintendo had such a low shipment to begin with concidering that the DS game sold over 5 million copies. Maybe they thought it would have a slower opening and contunie to sell steady for a long, long time. If you don't mind my asking, what thread(s) are these from?
Digital sales of NSMB2 are low and those who are made with download cards are a part of them.
Vita price announcement thread.
Apparently there's a thread just for the Vita's performance this week so these should probably go there. *shrug*

I don't expect Animal Crossing numbers, but there's no way they can be that low.
There's only a 4k difference.
